Pardon me while I ramble for a bit, since comic books have been a long time interest of mine.
I'm not sure exactly when the separation occurred, or even why StudioXD dissipated, but partnered with them for a while was UDON Entertainment. UDON's made a bit of a name for itself by now with its work on Capcom titled comics, primarily Street Fighter, which originally was published by Image Comics in 2003. Udon has a different team, however, the first issue's cover was illustrated was by Long Vo and Saka. Out of the four issues I seem to own, it's my favorite cover. (Unfortunately, my scanner made it look like crap. Yes, I love you too, scanner.)
Interestingly enough, I was already familiar with the work of StudioXD and UDON Entertainment from 2001 thanks to their work on the X-Men: Evolution comics. Back then I was working at Burger King. They released X-Men: Evolution kids meals, so it was easy for me to grab my more favored characters. Each toy came with a mini-CD with information about the character, as well as a short, flash comic book that could be read on the computer.
These comics later inspired a flash comic of my own for a project in college, but mine doesn't look as nice, so I'm not sharing.
biggrin Back in 2003, the Gaia forums actually had a forum specifically for StudioXD and its work on X-Men: Evolution. It's a shame that's all gone now. I'm not sure when all of it disappeared. People did act pretty ridiculous there. :B
