The first time I saw you, Drinking coffee in that place downtown, You were beautiful, so I flew, And I couldn’t help but start to count.
The second time I saw you, You were on the subway, You looked so peaceful at rest… Beside you your coat lay, So I placed it upon your breast.
The next time was the third. You didn’t recognize me in the slightest as you said, “Hi, I’m sandy. I’ll be your waitress.” You were climbing through my heart to my head.
The fourth time was the hardest to bear. I saw you at the gym, Jogging to nowhere. Under the fluorescent light, You looked at me almost, I swear.
The fifth was the beginning Not of the end, but the rest of my life. A fool I looked, uncontrollably grinning.
It was at the store, There in the flower aisle you were, pining. I strode with confidence, looking into the face of your, And handed you a single pink rose, I did, So your face lit up quite much more, When I asked, “Is Friday okay?”

Anything Means Everything (short story) SECOND PLACE!!!
Marcus sat in his room shocked. how could this have happened? Not only during his senior year, but just before valentine's day too! He shook his head again closing his dark brown eyes and running his hands through his thick blonde hair. He glanced up at a framed picture on the wall. "Belle, why?" he mumbled looking at the half indian girl in the picture. Savannah Belle, his "girlfriend" since kindergarden. Marcus touched the picture and glanced out his window over at Savannah's house. Her bedroom was empty. "She's probably watching TV. She doesn't even care." Marcus looked at his blank notebook. Their teacher wanted a love poem for valentine's day. Marcus threw the notebook across the room. "How can I even think about love right now?" he yelled. He glanced over at Savannah's room once more before, for the first time in 12 years, closing his curtains. *** Savannah lay on her couch sobbing. "But momma, why?" she cried. "How could we do this to each other? Why were we so stupid?" "Vannah, sweetie," her mom said. "Come on, tears won't solve anything." "I c-can't h-h-help i-it." Savannah broke down in tears again, "Momma, I-I l-l-love him. I w-want t-t-to b-be with h-h-him." Savannah's mom gently stroked her daughter's long, straight dark hair. "Why can't you tell him that?" her mom asked. "Cause of some silly fight?" Savannah shook her head. "It’s not just the fight, momma," she swallows hard. "I just can't put into words how I feel for him." "You could put it in writing," her mom suggests. "You seem to have a knack for that." "And I could never show him it," Savannah says. "If he knew I'd be mortified." Her mom smiled. "You two have one crazy relationship." Savannah sighed and went upstairs. Seeing Marcus' blinds closed she sighed and fell on her bed. She took out her notebook starting to write: Angels came, Stars light up, I fall for you, I gave you everything... *** "Hey, Belle," Savannah heard the all too familiar voice say. She turned from her locker to see Marcus holding a single red rose out to her. "Happy Valentine's Day." He smiled at her. Savannah didn't smile back. She walked right past him. "Belle, wait," Marcus rushed after her, "Come on will you at least talk to me?" "There's nothing to talk about, Marcus." Savannah stated bluntly walking into English class. She handed her notebook to the teacher and sat down without another word. Marcus, not having much of a choice, sat in the desk next to hers. As soon as class started the teacher reached for the notebooks and began to read. When she came to Savannah's she stopped and looked up. "Our next poem," the teacher started slowly, "is an untitled work by: Savannah Belle." Savannah barely flinched. Most of her works rarely had titles anymore. "Angels came, Stars light up, I fall for you, I gave you everything.
Anything, Means everything, When a thousand days, Are done." Savannah's pencil dropped from her hand. Her head snapped up. It wasn't the right poem. "Sun shines, Clearing the horizon, Never let you down, I gave you everything.
Everything was said, Everything was done, This love was mine, I won't let go." Savannah's face turned redder and redder. That was the poem she'd written FOR MARCUS!! Now the teacher was reading it in front of the WHOLE CLASS!! Marcus was actually listening intently. "Not enough, To promise you, Days and nights, A thousand are not enough.
Anything, Means everything, When a thousand days, Are done." Savannah thought everyone was looking at her. She had to get out of there. She grabbed her bag and ran from the room. Moments later that familiar, comforting voice calling her middle name, his pet name for her. Belle, Belle," Marcus caught up to her. "Hey why'd you run out? Everyone thinks your poem was great." "No one else was supposed to hear it," Savannah mumbled. "What're you talking about, Belle?" Marcus asked. Savannah looked right into his brown eyes. "I wrote that poem about you," she said her dark eyes filled with tears, "for you. I wrote it because I love you, Marcus. I always have." Marcus was too shocked to move. Savannah ran. "Belle, no, wait!" Marcus called after her, but it was too late. *** Marcus sat in his room later that night thinking. Savannah had written a beautiful poem and then rushed out of school. She hadn't come back the whole rest of the day. But Marcus wasn't thinking about that. He was thinking about the poem itself. It was wonderful, yes, but it was missing something. Suddenly, Marcus had it. He rushed outside and despite the fact it was raining he stood right under Savannah's window. "Anything, Means everything, When a thousand days, Are done." Savannah poked her head out of the window. "Hold on my love, Your heart all mine, That I believe. So I will do anything, Cause you mean everything, To me." For a moment Marcus just stood looking up at Savannah, then she climbed out her window and lowered herself right into his arms. "Did you mean it?" she asked him. "Yes, darling, every word." they kissed and Savannah replied. "Me too, every word." she smiled. "I love you, Marcus." "I love you too, Savannah," Marcus said. "From now until forever." They kiss again letting the rain fall.

Everything will be ok
Time will just pass away
Eventually, you will not cry
Not one tear, no more nights
Of wishing you could just come to an end
You talk to yourself, your only friend
You will become immune to the peircing pain
The clouds will disapear, leaving only rain
" I love you, never forget it" he said
But you feel no love, you feel only dead
But what is death but relieving love?
He loved you, he said, but it wasn't enough
You lie on the floor, a knife to your side
You turn your head, this is the night
The pain, the pain, its just so real
"No more," you say, "not pain will i feel
Not anymore, no one will miss me
If he loved me so, why didn't he kiss me?"
" He did, " I said, " the kiss of death"
That black kiss, and then he left
He left you, alone, to meet your end
To meet the black angel, did he send
You grab the knife, let go a tear
You were so brave, now you feel only fear?
" Can you not do it?" I asked next to you
Still holding the knife you said to me " If only he knew.."
" Knew what?" I asked, knowing you hadn't the courage
" I love him."
I watched in horror as you slip the knife through your heart.
With one last, dying cry, you slip into the dark.

Love Will Be My Eyes WINNER!!!!! Short story
I have to tell her, I can’t keep hiding it, running away from her, I have to tell her what’s wrong, the reason why I have been going to the hospital recently. So I sat her down, kissed her lightly on the forehead and cupped her check, this was going to be hard for me but even harder for her to take in. I said it fast; she jumped back from shock, after a few moments it registered in her head.
I'm blind
She began to cry, apologizing, it’s not her fault if anyone’s to blame it’s myself, I went to close to the fire, but I had to get it back, that idiot friend of mine, how dare he throw something so beautiful, so precious into the angry, hot flame of the fire. Her ring, a ring that I gave her on our third anniversary. I asked her to marry me right there on that spot, I guess my friend just got jealous.
She'll leave me I'm sure of it, no one wants a blind boyfriend, she'll have to do everything for me, cook, clean, dress me and even take me to the toilet, I can't ask her to do that, it wouldn't be fair, but... I don't want to let her go I love her so much.
My hands are wet now, from her tears, I’m trying to comfort her but it doesn’t seem to be helping. I keep telling her I’m ok, I’m ok, but she shakes her head and cries more.
I’m not ok, what will I do? I’ll never be able to do anything I used to do, our first child, what will they look like, I’ll never know. My strong son I’m sorry that I can’t play football with you. My darling daughter I’m sorry I can’t see you in your prom dress. My love, the only one for me, I love you so much, your so beautiful even more on the inside.
I have to ask, I need to ask, a simple question but so hard to say. Forming the words in my mouth, I’m ready, I have to pray, I have to hope that she loves me too.
“Its up to you now love, I know I’m asking so much but its your choice whether to stay or to go, I love you so much that I don’t want to curse you pain but at the same time I don’t want you to leave me”
I heard her laugh, felt her body relax, her soft warm skin moving down my arm. If she left where would I be? Alone. Scared. All those and more, I don’t want to be alone, I don’t want to be scared but I have to face the fact that I’m blind.
Her warm arms wrapped themselves around me, her embrace welcoming, her heart beat fast. Why was she hugging me, I’m a loser, a blind loser that could never show her the love she so rightfully deservers. Her hand began to stroke my hair, slowly as if I were a small child.
“My love do not be silly,” she said “I shall not leave in your time of need. If I did that then I would not be fit to say I love you.” She kissed me on the cheek and trailed her fingers down my face “I will stand by you, help you, and care for you because I know that if I was in your place you would do that same for me”
I hugged her and thanked her, knowing that this woman would stand by me and love me made me feel like the strong man on earth. At this moment the future didn’t matter there was only now. Now I know that love will be my eyes.

I want...
I want to hold you close, And never let go. I want to hear your voice, To comfort me when I weep. I want to breathe in your scent, And drift off to sleep, I want to see you smile, And brighten up my day. I want to hear your laugh, And make my heart jump, I want to see your eyes, And feel content. I want to kiss your lips, And complete my dreams. I want to be with you always, And love you forever.

Love and pain will come again, So save your tears, then comes the rain. He knew that he loved you, yet he wanted another. You wonder how could he do this if he was your lover? You wish your heart would just vanish, your pain would just fade, Yet when you hear his name, it all comes back again.
Oh, poor little child, who's life will soon fade, Save all your tears 'till another day. Cry to the moon, scream at the stars, Yet despite your feelings, you two are still apart.
