Name: Aislinn Leigh Derry
Nickname(s): Ais, Lin, Leigh, Tawny. Tangerine
Age: 24
Birthday: April 13
Occupation: Assistant Veterinarian
Nationality Vietnamese
Family:Mother: Shana Derry
Father: Greg Derry
Sisters: Aileen (17), Rosaleen (14)
Brother: Liam (27)
Marital Status: Single
Sexual preference: Not Particularly Interested (Anymore. Previously hetero)
Prospects: After her accident, sex is sorta, as far as she's concerned, out of the picture. At least until, hopefully, her changes heal up that area. As far as marriage and that sort of deal-- well, eventually it'd be nice, but she's mostly still in that young phase where you're not really thinking about families and stuff. Besides-- until things are fixed up, she's completely convinced she -can't- have children. And she can't, unless they do get fixed.
Likes: Horses: Aislinn loves horses. Has ever since she was a very little girl. She knows how to ride and has been doing so since about the same time. They're beautiful, graceful creatures with an amazing amount of intelligence in many cases.
Raves: Yeah. So, even though she has a naturalist side, Aislinn does enjoy shiny lights too. She's not into the sort with drugs, but she does enjoy a good drink now and then, and she loves to dance and wear glowsticks and all that fun stuff.
Furry Critters: Anything cute and fuzzy and cuddly. What girl doesn't enjoy a good cuddly furry critter?
Cultures: Aislinn enjoys studying other cultures on the side. She's from Vietnam originally, and somehow having the mixture of cultures she does (her entire family was adopted from different countries excepting of course her parents), she likes to learn more about the rest of the world. Ais has traveled a little as well, both for shows and for fun.
Karaoke: Just as fun as raves! Particularly once you get a bit tipsy. Singing is a good pasttime, even if your voice isn't star-material.
Random Likes: feathers, the colour orange, british spellings, working hard, winning shows, hearing applause, massages, incense, relaxation techniques, tea
Dislikes: Horses: While she still holds a deep love for the creatures, Aislinn has also developed a fear of them. Her accident has left her jittery any time she approaches a horse.
Being called into work: What is more annoying than a 2AM phone call into the office for an emergency surgery assist? Nothing. Aislinn -despises- being called in off hours, particularly as she tends to put more than enough hours into her job anyways.
"Slimy" critters: They creep her out. She'll deal with them when she has to (for instance, at the zoo) but she much prefers furry to slimy.
Coffee: It tastes nasty, no matter what anyone else says. She can't stand the stuff. Unless it's, say, Irish -Cream- Coffee with -Bailey's- in it, and then the alcohol makes up for the coffee taste.
Random Dislikes:
Favourite colour: Orange/Green/Black
Favourite animal: Horses Anything furry
Favourite scents: Natural scents, nothing overly flowery, mostly just gentle scents.
Hated scents: Strong odours. >_< Most perfume
Favourite food: Healthy stuff. Not necessarily just vegetarian, but healthily cooked meat and all that jazz.
Hated food: Fast Food (SO NOT HEALTHY)
Appearance: (will be expanded upon later)
Hair: Aislinn's hair is black, cut short. It's that typical straight hair that most Asian girls seem stuck with, though hers is a bit courser than most and tends to have flyaway strands that fall in her eyes, or tiny baby hairs at the top that are difficult to press down. She's dyed it so that there are two chunks of bright tangerine orange on either side. These sections are a bit back from her face, which is usually framed only by black strands.
Style-wise, Aislinn prefers to keep her hair pulled up into two very short pigtails. She leaves the black chunks that are closest to her fact down to frame it and give it a rounder shape.
Eyes: Aislinn's eyes are a deep brown in colour, nearly black. They're thin slits, barely recognizable as the almond shape most Asian cultures are known for. Her eyelashes are thin and straight despite her attempts to curl them, and she often wears mascara just to make them even the slightest bit visible.
Face: Aislinn's face exudes an almost childlike appearance that convinces most she's younger than she is. She's all soft lines and her features look almost fat with their roundness.
Body: Short, relatively stocky. Aislinn isn't overweight by any stretch of the imagination, but she's no model either. She has more muscle than fat, which gives her a more toned chunky look than those who have too much fat. Her legs are particularly muscular, but the rest of her isn't exactly skinny either. She used to ride horses, but she may look a little off-balance. Her pelvis and left leg were crushed a while ago in an accident. Walks with a cane and a brace over her leg. Her skin is a nice Vietnamese yellow-ish colour.
Distinguishing Features: The leg brace. The cane.
Clothing: Tends to wear feathers in her hair, and in her jewelry. Ears are pierced twice in each-- feathers would be in lower holes, regular studs in uppers. As far as general clothing-- well, we'll start simple. When working she wears Veterinary scrubs (usually a green pawprint shirt and white pants). During her off hours, she wears bright, cheerful colours. Her most common outfit consists of a pair of hip-hugging boot-cut green coudoroys with embroidered yellow flowers at the bottom, a pale yellow tank, and her favourite orange/black/yellow/green scarf made for her by her best friend.
She's another favourite outfit for weekends. A black babydoll T with a huge rainbow star on front accompanied by a bright orange mini-skirt and huge black boots with rainbow shoelaces.
Personality: Usual Moods: Aislinn is generally happy. Not spunky-perky-hyper happy, but content with her life. Though she's had a few bumps along the way, she feels she's had it easy enough other than that, and tends to be cheerful about that fact.
Personal Interaction:An adventurer of sorts, Aislinn has a tendency to thrust herself head-first into any situation. She is determined and obsessive when it comes to the things that really interest her...for as long as those interests last. Very few things last very long, however, and ultimately the things she's into last week turn into something different. This is partially reflected in her clothing-- her style still has the old raver touch to it despite her moving away from that sort of lifestyle.
Aislinn's also competitive, in part because of her obsession. When she does something, she wants to do it..well, perfectly. She wants to be the best she can at what she does, and uses beating others in competition as markers of her progress. It isn't that she wants to be superior to others, she just wants to better herself.
Aislinn's a little self-conscious. It's not quite vanity, though she's always enjoyed looking good and works quite hard to make herself an original and creative artistic palette of sorts. It's really more that she feels everyone can feel how scarred her accident left her. She tries to throw this caution to the wind, but there's always a tiny niggling feeling that everyone can see she's not as carefree as she pretends to be.
Her limp gives her the most insecurity-- it's a physical manifestation of her doubt, and an obvious scar on her outward appearance. Because of this, you probably don't want to bring up her accident. It's touchy and probably the best way to manage a completely negative, sarcastic, depressed, or angry Aislinn.
Character Interaction: Friendly and flirtatious-- Aislinn has a tendency to flirt jokingly with nearly everyone she meets, either male or female despite her own sexual preference. She likes to make friends, even if just superficial ones much of the time, and she likes to make people genuinely laugh. While she's not much of a cheesy joke-teller, her flirtatious wit will often provoke at least a few giggles.
Because of her competitive streak, she can have a bit of trouble working in teams. She was never good at groupwork (she'd take all the work on herself, and inform the others that she wasn't confident they'd do a good enough job for her) and she was even worse at team sports in school. She preferred those sports where she would be praised for the accomplishments she made on her own, and while she would interact pleasantly with the others on the track 'team' with her, her main goal was her own success and not the success of the group.
Way of Life: Aislinn doesn't really devote herself to any particular religion. She's not atheist or agnostic, she just hasn't really given it so much though. Generally she claims to be Christian, though, as both of her parents are Catholic and she was raised that way. If she ever thought about it, though, it might change.
