User Image Dim candle lights flickered in the inner recesses of the great tree library. Shirosuki found herself nosing through some of the older scrolls that laid in disarray and all but lost. Dust kicked up as she blew at a bit to reveal a very old and cracked scroll. Said dust tickled her nose and caused her to sneeze. Shaking her head, thin tight braids swinging in the motions. Her equally tightly braided tail flicked behind her. When the dust had settled and Shiro opened slightly teary eyes.

"Hello, what do we have here?" She pondered using a bit of her magic to pull the cracked parchment from its resting place.

As she moved the scroll the parchment fell apart around the edges and this caused her to frown a little. Frowning at this, the young archivist looked at the others that rest with it and saw that they too were slowly falling apart. This saddened her, passages of their past were slowly fading away and turning to dust. She had to do something to try and save such knowledge so younger generations like herself could read and remember.

"Soel!" Shiro shouted down the hall of shelves as a white rabbit popped up from one of the lanes.

"You shouted?" He asked hopping over and glancing up at the mare. "Find something interesting?"

"Certainly seems so. There are some really old scrolls back here. Some that are crumbling to dust." She said lowering the one she was holding to the rabbit whom took it with gentle paws. "Think one of the Chroniclers could rewrite these? I would hate for such things to be lost to time."

Soel looked at the scroll in his paws, he set it on the ground and tried rolling it out to see what might have been written upon the old parchment. Though while he was doing so, there was a crackling sound as the parched paper strained. He only managed to reveal the bottom quarter of the parchment before stopping, in fear of damaging it further. The scratch marks were faint, but still readable.

"If they know how to release the stress of the parchment to lay it flat." Soel said as Shiro nodded looking at the other scrolls.

"We're going to need a basket to collect what scrolls we can." Shiro muttered as she poked at another scroll that all but fell to dust. It seemed some were further gone then others.

An ear twitched at the sounds of paws leaving as Soel scampered off to find something to carry the scrolls within. While she waited, Shirosuki started pulling some scrolls from the stacks. While she worked, stacking some on the floor, she looked up at one of the higher shelves. Were there more up there? Squinting against the dim lighting, she reared up to put her front hooves on one of the lower shelves... This wasn't the greatest of ideas as the shelf itself gave way. Falling forward, scrolls tumbled and fell to the ground. Some buffeting Shiro on the way until all were on the floor at her sides. Scrolls laid in disarray as Soel returned with a basket that could hold only but a few.

"We're going to need a bigger basket, aren't we?" He asked with a small chuckle, before looking up at Shiro, "You ok?"

"Yeah, I'm ok. I was trying to see if there were more scrolls higher up. Seems some of these shelves are as bad as the scrolls." Shiro laughed lightly picking herself up on the floor and started picking up a few scrolls. "We can always come back for the others, Don't have to take them all in one run."

Soel nodded as he started helping, the basket filled with about ten or so scrolls, edges fraying. Dust was everywhere, settling now, she was surprised she wasn't sneezing more. Little pleasures she supposed as she picked up the basket and they both headed out of the library to find someone to restore her new 'treasures'.
