A circular stone arena surrounded by a deep moat. It is one of a few such arenas currently in use, and is blocked off from the others by 3 meter high netting that runs around the perimeter of the moat. This lets spectators as well as participants see how the other teams are doing.

Amarantha strolled into the arena in which she was to participate in... tag. Tag of all things. If only Yugure could see her now, or even her own mother, neither would believe it and the latter would be beside herself with how 'undignified' it all was. Ama herself was only mildly miffed, she was unsure who her opponent was, besides the name of Haru Kurou, she wasn't even sure what villiage he was from besides knowing that he wasn't from Konoha. She'd have known who he was, at least in passing, if that were the case. She sighed and looked around, getting a lay of the land, there was a moat surrounding the area in which they were to play tag, and netting that ran three meters above and around the water. But other than that, it seemed pretty clear of obstructions, clearly to better enable those watching to see what was going on. It would pose an interesting challenge for sure.
Amarantha brushed off the leather body suit she wore, she had forgone her white fur coat altogether, since clothing counted in being tagged, she decided to avoid that as a liability. Instead she only wore the tight leather body suit, that enabled her to use her full range of movement without being hindered by overly loose folds of cloth, her rapier hung at her hip, though she had wrapped it so that the blade would not come free of the sheath. This way she could still use it without potentially hurting her opponents, since this wasn't supposed to be a death match or anything. And the rapier gave her some extra reach that she could potentially use to her advantage."This should be fun. Mother would not approve, which makes it even more fun. Let the games begin I suppose."

Haru Kurou Haru entered on the opposite end of the arena, shirt off of his body which revealed a well toned chest. It would be pretty obvious he was a taijutsu user. Well he seemed primed and ready for this his expression was definitely sour. All of this time of wanting to fight and it ends up just being a game of tag. Tsk. It didn't mean exactly that they weren't going to hit each other but it was no where near the level of contact he wanted for his exams. If he didn't win it might mean he wouldn't get any chance at all to have a real fight.
He kept to his side of the arena and stretched, making sure he was open and flexible. He had no idea who his opponent was, a young looking woman in a leather body suit and a rapier on her side. Perhaps a bukijutsu user? He himself had a walking stick that he occasionally used but he didn't bother to bring it with him.
Mid way through doing the splits as a stretch he waved over to her, speaking loud enough to be heard "Good luck! I like the suit to! Super stylish!". Even if his mood was soured about the match his usual pleasant attitude wasn't.

Amarantha watched her opponent stretch, judging by his expression he wasn't happy about something, but seeing as he made a positive remark about her outfit; she ruled out him being unhappy about his opponent being a female. So perhaps he was as irked by the chosen 'game' as her mother would be. She lifted a hand to wave at him, calling back a, "Good luck to you as well," Before she exhaled and focused on him. It was clear that he used taijutsu, seeing as he had the body of a physical fighter and was not carrying a weapon on him. Without a shirt it would be difficult for him to conceal anything larger than perhaps senbon, kunai or shuriken, and those weren't very conductive to most forms of Bukijutsu. So Taijutsu it was. Her best bet would be to use her superior, if he was of the same rank as her, chakra pool to try and get in close, and then back off just as rapidly. A hit and run, so to speak.
Ama placed a single hand on her hip, near the hilt of her sword, and the other she kept relaxed at her side, slightly behind her thigh. The hand behind her thigh wove a series of hand signs. The instant she was finished, 100 clones of Amarantha filled the arena. With that same hand she performed another few signs, this time the goal was to aid in making her appear even less conspicuous than she would already be in a large crowd of identical clones. Once that was done, all the clones began to move in random patterns. Some moved closer to Haru, others moved farther away, and some moved perpendicular; while yet even more moved parallel to him. The real Ama wove in and out of the clones, making sure to keep her movements as fluid the clones', keeping to the patterns of whatever set of clones she was blending in with.
Her goal here was to get as close as possible, and if luck and strategy were on her side, to tag Haru and then disappear back into her clones. The beauty of these close was that, once they were hit, they would not disappear like Kage Bunshin would. But the downside was that they were not solid, so landing a hit on one of them and then hitting Ama would indicate to her opponent that she was the real one. Amarantha moved in closer, closing the distance now, and attempted a rapid jab, nothing meant to hurt, just to make contact. At the same time that she did that; she made sure that several of the closest clones moved to 'tag' him as well.

Haru Kurou Haru watched as the woman split into what appeared to be a hundred or so clones right out of the gate and inhaled deeply, preparing his own technique to respond to that.
From the top of his shoulder muscles grew another pair of arms, giving him four total. He didn't know what kind of technique he was up against but had to scout out what kind of clones they were. Not all of them were bum rushing him so he assumed there was some kind of trick at hand. With his upper set of arms he struck out at a couple of clones that got within striking distance, using his superior hand to hand speed to land a 'hit' on them. Or at least he would call them that except when he made contact the extra set of limbs simply phased through. So that was what kind of game she was playing.
Without much aoe to speak of he merely waited for the real one which would come shortly after. His extra set of arms weren't ready for a follow up strike but his actual ones definitely were.
Once he felt contact two techniques would come into play. His real arm was flushed with chakra and shot out with surprising speed towards the real Ama, well at the same time 3 after images of the attack shot out at similar speed. Normally the real strike would cause quite a lot of damage but he was trained enough to pull his punches, the goal was merely to land 4 tags for the price of one.
If Haru was honest with himself something like this wasn't his strength. He was good at head on combat, and you know, actual combat. These kind of weird rules definitely weren't well suited to his style but he would give her a good show regardless.

Amarantha had been expecting a rapid retaliation, but she would be lying if she said she was expecting it to be that fast. She was rapidly tagged four different times, by what appeared to be multiple sets of limbs. But she was aware enough of taijutsu, even if it wasn't something she herself was proficient in, to know they were after images. Still they would more than likely count, so she was behind the eight ball here, with the score being four to one. Amarantha was quick to respond with a series of hand signs, which made her hair rapidly grow and harden around her in a cocoon like fashion. Being so close he would more than likely be hit with at least one of the long spikes of blood red hair, but she wasn't leaving it up to just that. While still in the cocoon of hair she wove yet more signs, focusing on where the water was outside of her protective dome of hair.
The air around the water grew colder, so rapidly that there was no mistaking the sudden drop in temperature. The water in the moat gathered above Ama and Haru and condensed into beautiful ice that rapidly took shape and fell to the ground behind Haru. The ice was in the shape of a massive whale with a single long, painfully sharp looking, horn in the middle of it's forehead.The instant she heard the sound of the ice hitting the stone floor she burst out of her hair cocoon and performed yet more hand signs. This time a spinning vortex of pale snow-white petals flew into Haru's face, the intent was to obscure his vision. And the follow up of the obscured vision would be for the vortex of wind to slam Haru backwards into the whale's side. That should count as two points, minimum; if she understood the rules properly. But now, she was set up with ice within easy reach of any jutsu she had under her belt. And as a Hyouton, having a ready source of ice and water was important."You're good, this got a lot more interesting than simply the average game of tag." she called to Haru with a small, confident smile. She would not let surprises bother her, she was unshakable. She was as impassive as the very ice that she controlled. She had to be.

Haru Kurou Haru knew how the flow of battle went and just as she was going into her techs he was right behind to try and keep up. A thin crackle of chakra spread across his body that formed into an armor like aura. Of course as he couldn't move much he was struck by the hair, not really flinching at the pain.
Next came the explosion of movement from Haru. He ducked out to the side and kept his knees tucked before exploding towards her in an upper-ward motion, aiming to unleash a slight upper cut that was aimed towards her gut. Again the attack wouldn't hold the full force behind it, even if hers has he reallllly didn't want to go full force in a game that was like this. He understood why she was using her own techniques though, it wasn't like she could pull punches with ninjutsu and keep pace. Hell he was happy she wasn't.
Whether or not the attack would hit he finished off with Radial split, 3 after images shooting off in different direction alongside the real Haru to give her something to think about for a brief moment. As the fight raged on he swore he could have heard some noise coming from one of the stands.
Invigorating Armor Rank: B :: Armor Description: An advanced Armor technique that was actually developed by a struggling young practitioner of The Kaiser Fist. This technique, like Stimulating Armor, allowed him to maintain his peak physical potential; While active, this armor generates a thin aura of Chakra and prevents the user's strength and fortitude from being reduced below normal levels, while also granting a mild increase to both as well. Blast Uppercut Rank: B :: Simple (Upgraded to S rank strength due to DR increases, Meaty Punch, Heavy Punch, and Iron Discipline. That's used for clashing with incoming attacks. Speed is A Rank) Description: The user will dip out to the side, either to avoid a weapon or change the angle of the attack, while simultaneously bending their knees to avoid other attacks and to add dynamic tension and potential energy. Then exploding with all the force in their legs while swinging their hips and blasting upwards with their hand, the user aims a nasty uppercut into the opponent, be it the body or the head. Amarantha threw herself into a cartwheel, only barely managing to avoid being punched with the rapid burst of speed from the uppercut her opponent threw her way, but there was no way for her to avoid both the uppercut and the split. She was hit by the after-image and just barely restrained from cursing. She was at a severe disadvantage, and she was hating it with a passion that burned as hot as her ice ran cold. She was not going to go down without a fight, however, and channeled her chakra as she was hit. Haru, after hitting her, would begin to feel this burning itch under his skin. It would feel as if he had contracted poison ivy or poison oak. It would be a nearly unbearable feeling.
Amarantha would immediately follow up the first technique with another one, weaving the hand signs and then staring at Haru as the technique would take affect, causing his eyesight to 'shatter' as if it were a broken mirror. This would make it more difficult for him to keep track of her and her position or movements. If nothing else, it would buy her a little time to figure out what to do, or how to properly take him on. She had never come across someone who was purely taijutsu like Haru seemed to be.
Amarantha shook her head and wove yet more signs, to add insult to injury she would attempt to affect his head even more. If she could simply keep him off balance she would be able to put herself at more of an advantage. With the activation of the last ability, the air pressure in the area around Haru would drop dramatically. His already shattered vision would blur, if he was caught in the technique, and he'd more than likely suffer from a severe headache. It would potentially cause drowsiness and stigmatas to form in his eyes, on top of condensation forming in the area, obscuring his vision even more.

Amarantha sighed and shook her head when time was called and it was announced that Haru had basically won this match. She was disappointed, though in herself and not the ruling. Fair was fair, and he had scored more points than she had. She was just disappointed that she had failed her own expectations, and couldn't pull off the plan she had made. Granted she should have opened with her new plan, it probably would have been more effective. Oh well, she lived, now she had learned; as the saying went. She dismissed the genjutsus she had just invoked and bowed to Haru, "That was an excellent match, and taught me much on how to not fight a Taijutsu user, so I thank you for the experience, and wish you luck in your next round." She called out to her opponent. She wondered who this Minowa Jaeger was. Perhaps if she was lucky she'd be able to figure it out before her match against him. It would certainly give her a fair bit better footing for the next round.
