It was during her pondering when she heard a shrill gust of wind hit past the front window. She snapped her head up, wings fluttering curiously behind her as she propped her elbows onto the front counter. A storm? There hadn't been anything in the news about it, but she could clearly see the trees begin to bend against the rapidly accelerating gusts. Scrunching her nose in concentration, she almost missed a flutter of color against a window, letting out a surprised exhale when the color came to her glass door and opened it. A phony!
"Welcome! Are you okay? Did you get caught in the-" She wasn't able to finish her sentence before the lights suddenly died, swallowing the two in darkness.
