"Huh, I dunno. Never done that before but how hard can it be?" He rolled up his sleeves, squatting down to take a look at the busted wheel. "I mean I've seen Tevini do stuff like that so..." Obviously this qualified him to take apart equipment and repair it, right? His hands gripped onto the wheel and he violently tried to rip it off with little success. It did feel slightly looser but these things were made to withstand a lot of abuse. Otherwise, they'd break after three or four uses.
Rummaging through his pockets, Cerpin fished out his keys and began to poke and prod at parts of the wheel in order to take the s**t apart. Eventually there was a loud CRACK followed by a series of snaps and the wheel crumbled to pieces.
His eyes met Etsali's in a wide confused stare for a complete minute of silence.
"Uhhh, well... we'll just use this." He grabbed a couple of potatoes and wedged one of them on as a wheel. The cart jerked around weirdly when they tried to push it but it honestly wasn't much better or much worse than the previous wheel. Weird.

Etsali nodded, crouching down beside him to watch his progress. It made sense that he'd have an easier time of it after watching Tevini work, but wasn't he just...sort of...destroying it? The thief blinked, stared at what had once been a wheel, and wondered how they were supposed to replace it with a wheel from another cart if pulling them off made them die horrible deaths.
Luckily Cerpin had another idea, and maybe she'd been on to something earlier after all because the potatoes actually had worked! Giggling, she tugged the plastic features off another potato from the cart and stuck them in the outer potato wheel so it would smile out at the store as they drifted through. "Perfect!" Hopping back up, she got back to helping to push.
"Hey hey," she grinned at him, "I bet Tevini really will like them if you tell her what else they can do in a pinch!"

"I like the way you think, Ets." Cerpin smirked, looking pleased as the orangeblood brainstormed ways to get into Tevini's good graces. Not to mention, her addition to the potato wheel was pretty fun and boosted morale. He was starting to get tired though as they forced the cart though the store.
Grabbing a couple more clothing items, he thought maybe he'd give some of them to his partner in crime here once they were done. Were slippers quiet and good for sneaking around in? Maybe they could help her slip in and out of houses to steal s**t. And if not, they'd keep her toes warm during these cold winter nights, he supposed.
"Do you want the tickle my lusus doll by the way? I figure the eyes are shiny and I know that's kind of your thing..." He'd still pay for it, his little gift to her, but he wasn't sure if she'd want it or not. Personally, he had little use for the doll as he had his very own motorbike and that was really all he cared about taking home.

"The doll?" Etsali hadn't really paid it much before, aside from cheering Cerpin on while he fought for it, but the mention of shiny eyes had her reaching for it immediately. Without hesitation she tugged it from the cart and held it up, tilting it this way and that. "It really does! Yeah, I'll keep it, thanks!" She scooped another bin off a shelf as they passed and dumped out its contents on his side of the cart as extra thanks, but it was only more erasers. This was a really weird store, now that she thought about it.
"Guess we should start heading back towards the front, huh? Gonna be a long walk to the train station with all of this." On second thought, though, after glancing at the motorbike's crate, "Let's see if they keep any fuel around on the way out!"

"Oh good plan, good plan." Cerpin blinked, surprised at the mention of looking for fuel but he nodded. It would make sense to try and use the bike to transport everything back instead of towing the bike in its box. Etsali was craftier than he thought and he would file this information away from later. Who knew when he would need a contact like her around? Probably fairly often in Alternia, to be honest.
"I don't think we have this yet." A doll perched up on a shelf as they passed by and he reached up to grab it. The thing felt heavier than it should've which probably meant it had good stuff inside it, right? Wrong. It was filled with a frustrating amount of smaller versions of the same doll inside of each other. Well, maybe Tevini would like it. She enjoyed annoying crap like that. Something about engineering miracles.
"Ughhhhhh ******** me. Look at the line! This is gonna take forever to check out." He sighed at the sight of the endless amount of other customers in shopping cart gridlock. Well, nothing to do but wait.

"It'll be day before we make it out of here!" Etsali groaned, slumping against the cart dramatically. Clearly this was all the other shoppers' revenge against the two of them. She could already see them closing ranks to keep them from breaking in line. "I can't believe how many deals we passed to get here faster! That last doll was practically free they'd marked it down so low! And we just left it there on Row 7! Right in the open! The perfect deal!" Folding her arms on a crate, she dropped her forehead to them as if she wanted to cry. After a second she glanced up to see if anyone ahead of them were hesitating. A couple looked ready to rush back.
"Why did we leave ROW 7!?"

He couldn't believe how well her lie was working. A bunch of trolls hemmed and hawed over the miracle deal on Row 7 for a few minutes before taking off running towards it. The fear of missing out was just too much for some people and he laughed at the insanity of it all. Cerpin wrapped an arm around Etsali and smiled at her like a fox in a cluckbeast coup.
He gave her a playful peck on the cheek to show his gratitude before kicking a bunch of abandoned carts out of the way. It was like the sea was parting before them and he barreled down the path, putting out an arm to lazily clear the shelf and knock the remaining contents down into their cart as they neared the check out stand. The price was expensive but nothing he couldn't afford as he poured an entire bag's worth of shiny beautiful counterfeit beetles across the counter.
"Not bad. We should do it again sometime, eh? Let me get the bike ready and I'll be good to go!" Cocky and invincible, it didn't seem to cross Cerpin's mind that he had no idea how to ride a motorbike but he was certain he'd be able to drive them and all their presents home without issue. Messing with the controls, he finally got it started and purring before glancing back at her with a smirk.

"Well, you're not half bad yourself," Etsali returned, grin spreading right back across her face and refusing to fade as they paid and made their escape from the store. The suggestion of doing this again was met with an enthusiastic "You bet!" Even if it had been a bit tiring, it had been fun! Lately Alternia hadn't seemed to have enough of that in it, and she was glad to have found plenty here. With an exaggerated motion, she tugged her hat down more securely and then gave another delighted laugh. "Alright, let's go!"
Somehow she got the feeling the trip to the train station would be just as much an adventure as the shopping had been.
