Static grinned. He was having more fun here than he ever had in the presence of his lusus. The boy blushed as Mahmud invited him out of drinks. "Wa- ah, really?!" Static said, pleased at the opportunity to hang out with the brownblood some more. "Yeah! Lets do it!" Static jumped, just once, and then spotted another large present. Was this another motor bike?! A scene flashed in Static's mind, of him, and Mahmud, maybe Hawk? And Garand! All riding across the land. A biker gang. The boy was starstruck, lost in his own dreams, when another troll tried to get the box. Raijin hissed, sparks flying from his crackling coat, and the other troll let Static take it.

Woah, Raijin was vicious! And were those sparks? The thought of an electric lusus made Mahmud nervous, especially around his mother... for some odd reason, it seemed like having an electric type lusus near a flying type lusus did not mix. Call it instinct.
"Great! Like... I mean, I hope we have enough money to do this but... Oooh!" Chocolate! Tasty, tasty chocolate on the ground! Ommy warned against eating things on the ground unless they were buggies, but chocolate in a wrapper should be fine right? As he reached forward to get it for him and his friend, he got a trampling troll's foot right in his teeth. "OW OW OW OW"
"COO." Harpommy immediately started pecking at the higherblood teen that had done the kicking, and chased him off. Show them what for! "Coo?"
"I-I'm fine, Ommy..." he grumbled while holding both the chocolate and his mouth. Mahmud turned to Static and gave a little groan. "We should finish up soon, I think... because... I think those trolls over there are starting something over some pants..."

"Chocolate?!" Static exclaimed. He had heard of the stuff, but in general Alternia's hard and aggressive culture made the treat a bit of a taboo for a highblood trying to look tough. Raijin had made sure Static knew this. Icecream was okay, it cooled one off, but chocolate was an indulgence. Static stared at the mystical indulgence in Mahmud's hands, maybe, maybe he could ask for just one nibble later... As some troll proceeded to step on the brownblood's hand, Static let out a loud yell. "Hey! Go away!" the blueblood ran over to the brownblood to inspect his hand. "Oh jeeze.. your really right..." Static agreed as the pants fight got violent. The blueblood found another large box, and used it as a shield while Mahmud righted himself.

There was something to be said about having a friend who would protect you from danger from what was quite possibly the most aggressive thing since the Trials. Especially if said friend defended you with a gift meant for another person. Now that was dedication! Mahmud had no problem returning those sentiments by grabbing another huge, albeit light, box and throwing it at a troll's head who came too close to Raijin and Static. "BACK! BACK AWAY FROM THEM!" Hopefully it didn't hurt that person, but they seemed far too eager to snatch the gift back up. "HEY!"
Before he could reach out to get his present long lost, Harpommy forced an even bigger package into his hands. "COO COO, COO!" She was right of course; a gift in the hand was worth more than one thrown at a troll's head. This one was light, and he crammed it into the carriage the best he could.
micillia Not much interaction, but I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of throwing something at someone's head...

Present shopping was starting to grow chaotic, and while being around Static certainly gave him some life, poor Mahmud was starting to wonder how much more he could take. On a normal day, he may not even SEE another troll. Now he's forced into the same space with literal hundreds, if not thousands!
It was clear he was growing antsy, and starting to stick to his mother more closely. Mahmud picked up another package though and did his best to trudge on through, tossing it into the basket. "H-how are you doing Static? You holding up okay?"

The shopping was becoming intense, Static and Raijin were feeling it, as both began to droop. From Mahmud's voice, it sounded like he as well was not doing too well. "Y, yeah! Um," Static looked over at his drooping lusus, who upon noticing Static's glance puffed up again. There was no way Raijin would look weak, especially in front of his own charge. "We can keep going, a little..."

"O-Okay..." Mahmud took a deep, deep breath and stood up straight himself. After all, Static and Raijin and Harpommy were all holding it together. Why couldn't he? He'd have to match their pace, is all... even if all the trolls getting close were making him twitchy. "Lets do this!"
As if to prove his resolve, Mahmud dug into a pile in the toy aisle and pulled out a huge stuffed lusus, giving it a cuddle. Stuffed Lusii were good feelings, yes. Good. Nothing beats a large stuffed lusus. "Look how big and cute this is, guys! Isn't it great?" He poked his head out from behind the doll and gave the best smile he could. "G-great shopping! Shopping is great! Yup! Nothing wrong with Shopping!"
Harpommy gave a concerned coo, but her son just brushed it off.

With most of his beetles out and dissipated, Mahmud was beginning to concentrate more on helping Static out. Dumping the large stuff lusus he had pulled out earlier into Static's cart, he began to dig around a little more. A shoe stepped on his hand, causing him to yelp out. "I-I-I'm O-o-ok! I'm okay! I-I'll be okay!"
Full of determination (not), he reached out and grabbed another large box, shoving it into his friend's cart. The sooner they filled up Static's stuff the sooner he could get the hell out of here.
As he kept trying to dig around for more things... Mahmud became more and more anxious. There were too many trolls, too much noise. Everyone was hyper aggressive, yelling and screaming. Snatching things out of each other's hand. One older troll in particular he locked onto, just hearing her scream about something or another. What it was, didn't matter to him. It was her voice, and her blood color. The highblood was far too intense for him, and he found himself backing into his mother's feathers.
"U-um... actually... I'm going to..."
She continued to scream at someone, about something, but the only two words he could fixate on were "Useless" and "Disaster". Useless. Disaster. Useless. Disaster.
"Coo. Coo coo coo, coo~" Harpommy thankfully noticed her trembling child and nuzzled him, turning to Static and Raijin soon afterwards. "Coo coo coo, coo coo. Coo!" With that she gently nudged her son along to the checkout line. It seems they are going outside for some fresh air!
micillia Since Mahmud has the 11 he needed out of the way, I'm transferring you the other presents he gets! biggrin <33 He's giving 2 huge presents! DISREGARD, the equal split made transfer unnecessary! THey earned equal amounts of pressies!

Static watched his friend stagger to the floor, and his eyes went wide. Why were these trolls so ruthless?! "H-here!" Static said as he lifted his friend into an empty shopping cart and proceeded to stack lusus plushies around the brownblood. "Just, um, just relax, okay? Ill go, er, find the cashier and get the rest." Static said, patting the other boy's curly hair. With that the blueblood took the shopping cart of unpayed for gifts and ventured into hell, picking up a neat thing or two on the way.

Static managed to make it to the cashier, getting bumped and jostled the entire way. Someone even managed to elbow the boy in the face, but Static fought on. Mahmud had looked so exhausted! Static had to bring the spoils out from the war. Feeling his own body getting sluggish, the blueblood put his beetle purse onto the counter, and waited, ringing his hands, as the cashier slowly checked everything out. As soon as the blueblood recieved the recite he rushed to get out of the store, to find some sort of safe place, even if it meant having to travel all the way to his hive to get some peace. "Mahmud?" Static called, limply pushing the cart away from the chaos and warfare.

Out in the front of the store, Mahmud sat curled up in the shopping cart still. His face rested in his knees, his arms folded around his legs. Fine. He'd be fine once he got some fresh air, away from all those screaming people. Just as Static had rubbed his head before, Harpommy was now working on nuzzling her beak against her son, cooing softly while he recovered. Things were already starting to feel better, even if there were trolls coming in and out of the doors.
Mahmud heard a voice call out to him, and he raised his head to give Static a weak smile. "Hey..." Scooching around in the cart a bit, he managed to make it onto his knees and folded his arms over the edge, looking at his friend with a weary gaze. "Sorry for ditching, um... I don't..." How did he word this, without sounding like a complete and total wuss? "I... don't get along with crowds. I didn't mean to leave you behind. Are you okay?"
micillia OK I think how it works out is because we got an odd number, one of us simply gets an extra present. If you want it, you can have 1 Huge Present from Mahmud! But if not, we'll just keep what we earned since it splits that way. |

"Y-yeah... that sounds good..." Slowly, he crawled out of the grocery cart and stepped back onto solid ground, brushing himself off. They could get out of here, wrap gifts, spend time together... watch tv for the first time! Or rather, Mahmud's first time. Somehow he believed that Static had a television set in his home: one not attached to a microwave oven. "Lets go to my hive! Its probably closer, even if its like... way out in the desert."
As they walked off towards their destination, Mahmud couldn't help but feel thankful in this moment for having a good friend like Static. A friend willing to hang out with him, shop with him... ride crazy cool motorbikes with him (once he got a helmet, at Harpommy's demands). Even if things had been chaotic before, fighting in those crowds and deals, at the present he felt at peace. For once, it seemed things were going pretty alright... and better things were on the way.
Like motorbikes.
