Even though she'd accepted becoming a rebel and had come to visit the swamp many numbers of times, Tevini always found herself unsure of what to do when she was stuck waiting for Cerpin to finish his business so they could head home to Chittentown. Bored, she'd spent a few minutes observing the village before deciding to look for a place she could sit down. Figuring there'd be tables and chairs anywhere food was near, the redblood followed her nose.
As she wandered, the engineer let her mind do so as well. Quickly she was lost in solving her latest design problem of how to hand drag when she walked straight into something that managed to be somehow hard and soft at the same time. Knocked backwards from stumbling, the redblood yelped as she went down and fell into the swampy mud.
"Ow! Ah, I'm sorry!" She apologized quickly, a physical reaction she'd been conditioned to do. Glancing up at the other troll, she couldn't help but notice he was rather big. Broad shouldered and large, Reemus looked very intimidating to the easily startled coward.
Gl!tch~ i wasn't sure which cert to use, hope this one is alright! if you'd rather a different one lemme know and i'll change it! also if i need to change any details of this post, lemme know and i'll edit!

If anything, there was always plenty for Reemus to do in the swamp. With new trolls growing up and needing places to live, construction was pretty regular. That, and upkeep. Really, if someone just told him to carry a thing or hammer that, saw this, whatever, Reemus was down. He liked being given direction. It helped pass the time from night to night. Not every night could be an outing with Voscil, unfortunately.
But it was good to keep busy, especially after the space ladder. Things were quiet here. Stable. He liked that. Even throwing himself into his work, though, eventually his body complained.
Namely, his tummy.
It growled at him as he finished carrying some lumber to another tree site, so he decided it was time to sate the beast. Woofmum followed in the meantime, now that it was clear she wouldn't be in the way. She greeted him with a bark, and he patted her head. Then, they were on their way. It was about lunch time, he figured, so the local place should probably have some good stuff...
In the middle of scratching his cheek idly, he was jostled a bit as someone ran right into him. "Hwuh?" It took him a second to focus as he looked down at the figure who had bounced off of his body. Before he knew it, they were apologizing.
"It's okay, mate," he said with a confused blink, still grasping the situation. He squinted a little, as if that would help with his half-blind eye. He caught the red on their shirt, and after a second leaned down. The yellowblood went from a hazy baffled to immediate concern. "Ah, are you all right? Fallin's never fun..." He reached out to give Tevini a hand.

"Wonderin' if I'm all right," he echoed, and started scratching his chin. "Huh." By the expression on his face, furrowed brows and all, it was easy to tell that the big galoot found this to be odd. "I mean," he shrugged, letting his hand drop from his face to gesture, "if I wasn't you'd know. I howl pretty good." He smiled a little at the end of that. No offense taken on his part, or to dish out.
"Uhhh, but yeah, mate. 'M fine. My eye ain't, but there's nothin' to be done about that besides gettin' a replacement, I guess. You're new so ya don't know, but I joined durin' the raid on the ol' base. I didn't really mean to, but I followed me gut, n' here I am. N' I got this for it." Another gesture, this time to all the burns on the side of his face. Despite all the pain he went through for someone he didn't even see anymore, the yellowblood seemed rather at peace with it.
"Was a pretty ugly thing all around, honestly."
The wolf lusus kept sniffing at the new person, getting closer even, curious and not caring a single bit about personal space.

"Oh! So you were there! Crikey..." Reemus barely swallowed Voscil's youthful involvement with the event, much less a stranger. He had no idea if she had any help, or was left flailing among the chaos. "I'm sorry ya got pulled into all that. It's good, though, that ya didn't get hurt." Even he could tell from her words and expressions that she was comparing herself to him, for some reason.
Surprising, too, was seeing someone be shocked by his lusus. Reemus couldn't help but laugh a little. "Aww, sorry, mate." He rubbed the back of his neck. "That's just me mum. She won't hurt ya." The yellowblood took a couple of steps over to the howlbeast and started rubbing her, and in a way kind of pulling her back, too. "Yer worryin' the girl, y'know. Yeah I know she's too stringy anyway, but she don' know that."
He looked up at Tevini again. "Maybe we should sit down somewhere, mate? Before ya end up in the mud again. We're a friendly lot, though, I promise."
Reemus continued to be in good humor, though deep in his thinkpan, the common ground regarding the rebellion sobered him some.

"The junkyard?" Reemus whistled. "I woulda envied that as a kid. Sounds like an adventure every night! Ah, but me? I was near the edges of the place. Nothin' very excitin'. I'm sorry ya had to move, too, mate. Hopefully it wasn't too hard? Sounds like yer makin' it work, though." He wanted to be supportive, if he could.
The yellowblood wasn't prepared to return to the topic of his eye, and he blinked in confusion when it came up again. He thought they were past all that! He was ready to wave it off, but had to pause at the mention of the space ladder. And someone was outright blinded.
His thinkpan flashed with memories of the Civisect disaster, the multiple times he lost the energy to go on, the explosion and the wreckage and how they barely made it out alive. He had a bunch more scars, but he was still in tact. How lucky for him. For Voscil in similar shape. And Tevini, in comparison.
"There's nothin' you can do," he murmured in response. A knee-jerk reaction. But he didn't take it back. "You just adapt, mate. It's awful, goin' through somethin' like that in one piece. Much less...not..." He swallowed. "When I went through stuff, havin' my...my matesprit around helped it loads."
Reemus paused, blushing a little just calling Voscil his matesprit to start with. "I-I mean- back then we were jus' friends. We didn't have no feelin's like that. So it ain't a romance thing. But ya do what ya can, y'know?"
He didn't expect things to get so deep so fast. Reemus exhaled. Whew. Kind of intense. But he felt like he could help, so he didn't shy away from the topic.
"It ain't easy but it gets easier over time. Might take a while, but the time does pass. I know that much."

"It ain't nothin' new fer me, n' if I'm not gettin' a hard time for it I don' really mind." Compared to getting called out for acting like a howlbeast as a child, or even the possibility of getting caught in his disguise, this really was nothing. He just kind of wished Tevini would get past it already. "Seriously, don' worry about it."
His wish seemed to be immediately granted, but at such a degree that the yellowblood was taken aback for a moment. "Oh- uh-" Just having an image of Voscil pass through his thinkpan made him blush. "Uhhh, well, I knew when she said yes when I asked?" But he wasn't sure if someone would ask a question that had such a simple answer. Someone older than a wiggler, anyway. "It, um, I guess it started when she kissed me in front of the cameras at Civisect. Nnnn' after that I kinda realized those were the feelin's I had? I dunno. Feelin's are hard, mate. All I ever really knew was that she meant a lot to me, n' we've been through so much n' get on so well, even after a bunch a' disasters n' such."
Reemus scratched his cheek. "Uhhhh did any a' that help?"
