“Congratulations! You’re our 100,000th customer!” A bell rang as the store clerk rushed to shake hooves with young Lotus Eater. The buttery coloured foal had bought a package of incense from the store, which was apparently made her the lucky customer. “As a token of our appreciation, please take these tickets for an upcoming special event!” The clerk passed two tickets to Lotus, who was still a bit dazed over all the fuss. In a low quiet tone, she accepted them, “Thank you.” Looking down at the tickets, she seemed over the details. What caught her eye was the large script ‘OCEANIC ROCKS’. A rock concert maybe? It was for tomorrow! That could be fun. Lotus smiled to herself. *** On her way home, she mentally thought on what she might wear and what kind of music the band would play. Lotus had never heard of a band called Oceanic Rocks; then again, she hadn’t heard of many bands at all. Once she got home, she looked at the tickets again and came up on one problem… there were two tickets. Who was she suppose to invite? Any of her siblings might like to go, but surely her mother would like to scream at a concert… and then there was her father, maybe he’d like to go. Or what about one of her cousins? What if this was someone’s favourite band? How could she possibly choose? Lotus sat down on the steps of her home, wistfully staring out at the garden as she took deep breaths in and out, in and out. Maybe if she mediated on it, an answer would come to her.

Wabi Sabi bounced along the path home, kicking up little rocks as he went. It was a good day so far; he'd been down to the lake to see the fish, and had found the most interesting piece of driftwood! He carried it home on his butter-colored back.
When he got home, he found one of his sisters sitting nearby. She seemed to be doing some breathing exercises, and Wabi tried to walk by her quietly so as not to disturb her. Unfortunately, his driftwood fell from his back, and clattered on the cobblestones.
He winced, and looked over at Lotus. "Oh, sorry! I was trying to be quiet, but I guess I failed didn't I?" he smiled, hoping she wasn't too mad.

The sound of the falling wood roused Lotus from her deep contemplation. Contrary to what Wabi Sabi might think, his sister was not mad at all. Instead the filly was very pleased to see him! Thinking inside her head was getting her no where, maybe thinking out loud was just thing she needed. "Actually, I believe the universe has intervened at just the right moment." With a serious look on her face, Lotus asked, " perhaps you can help me with something?"

Wabi was relieved that Lotus wasn't upset with him. In fact, she seemed to be happy with his arrival! Wabi tilted his head to the side. "Ah, well if the universe needed me to be here, then I am happy to assist you." He took a seat on the steps next to her, settling the wood next to his hooves on the ground.
"What can I do for you?" he asked.

"If you had tickets to a rock concert, how would you pick who to go with? Everyone deserves to go and I don't want someone to feel left out, but there are one two. I wish I could take everybody. How can I pick between our whole family?" Lotus shrugged with a light sigh as she ticked off each member of her family in her head: parents, siblings, and cousins. The butter colored filly brought up the tickets to show her brother. "Maybe by biggest fan? I've never heard of this band before... but perhaps Oddish or Minty really like them. What if they both like them?" Lotus showed the tickets to her brother, but then it dawned her that maybe her brother liked this band too. "Or are they your favorite?"

Oh dear. his sister was in a pickle, now wasn't she? Wabi didn't envy her position; he knew how much she loved all of her family. How does one decide who to take?
"You could go with biggest fan, but then how does one decide that? Who can name the most songs? Who can sing them? Unfortunately, is this moment, biggest is....relative."
He inspected the tickets, noticing the place and name of the event sounded familiar...
He blinked a couple times, then his eyes got really big, while his pupils got really small. "W-where did you get these!?" he squeaked, gazing at his sister with a mixture of awe and confusion.

Wabi had a good point, how could she possibly quantify biggest fan in a way that would be fair to everyone. Her dilemma seemed to just keep growing, just like Wabi's eyes when he saw the tickets. "The tickets? They were a prize for shopping at a store. I suppose today was my lucky day; they just sort of gave them to me. Do you know this band?"

He couldn't believe that his sister was so oblivious to what she was holding...Wabi inhaled sharply, then closed his eyes to recompose himself. It wouldn't do to lose control of himself in the moment.
When he opened his eyes, the earlier fervor was tempered.
"It's actually not a band." he said, returning to his earlier seated position. "It's a day of seminars regarding the make-up of rocks from the ocean, and how they help us understand how the sea works." A whole day of talking about rocks....
"I heard about it from Gravel Bed during Geology club." he continued on to say. "Apparently tickets are very hard to come by. Many scholars are attending, and they sold out quickly. You are very lucky sister."

Blue Eyed Melloon I think we only need 1 or two more posts to wrap up? maybe a time skip where Wabi goes with a friend, but brings back a quartz/crystal or something for Lotus as a gift? If Lotus was surprised or disappointed in this news, she hid it very well. She was silent for a moment that seemed to pass for ages, looking at the ticket. Her internal thought process whirling away with the new information. Her own interest in rocks extended to the rock garden and shifting sand around for fun, but that was about it. She really wasn't sure that an entire day of hearing about rocks wouldn't put her into a trance. Surely, even if she didn't audibly say that she wasn't interested, that also ruled several other family members. But here was Wabi Sabi, in front of her and eager to go. An idea formed in her head, on her luck could turn into his. "Maybe fate these to me, to pass on to you," Lotus smiled as she nudged the tickets to Wabi's hoof. "As a member of the Geology Club, you'll get the most of out these. " And then came the kicker, "You'd be doing me such a favor, soothing my indecisive woes and taking them both off hooves."

The colt stared at the tickets in his hooves, unbelieving. "I..I must go tell Gravel about this!" he said, jumping to his hooves. Before he took off, he bowed deeply to Lotus. "Thank you sister. You have no idea what this means to me. And my friend. I will tell you all about it when I get back!" he smiled widely before galloping away to phone his fellow rock nerd.zippedsiren Sounds good! You want me to time skip here, or do one more set? I can always edit to add it in

As her brother ran off excitedly with the tickets, Lotus felt a wave of relief come over her. Free from the torture of having to choose was only made better by the knowledge that someone truly interested would be going to the event. On the day of the event in question, Lotus gladly stayed home in peaceful tranquility. Though her own day went by without much excitement, she would be pleased to hear about it was for her brother.

Wabi Sabi stumbled in the door that evening, tired but over the moon. His saddlebags were laden with souvenirs, a few things with signatures from famous geologists, and lots of reading material. "Lotus?" he called out, kicking the door closed. "Are you home?"
He went on the search, and found her relaxing. "Sister!" he said, flopping down next to her. "I'm so glad you are here! It was amazing: There was a whole hour long seminar on carbon dating and how it's used to date trench formation!" His smile was wide and his eyes sparkled. "Thank you again for letting us have those tickets. Gravel and I had a wonderful time."
He suddenly turned bashful, picking at the cover of the saddlebag. "Actually, I..got something for you." he said, flipping open the bag and revealing a blue,, rounded rectangular stone the size of his hoof.
"It's called larimar" He said, sliding it over to her.
"It's said that this kind of stone promotes serenity, and lowers stress." he went on to say. "I figured that not every problem you face will be able to be solved by giving something away. So perhaps this stone will help you come to easier conclusions. It's my way of saying thank you."

Blue Eyed Melloon I think we can cut it off here biggrin Thank you! This was cute. Wabi's sister was deep in thought, humming gently to herself when her brother came in. Rouses from her zen like state, she had an almost sleepy look about her, but a smile formed on her face as she listened to how excited Wabi was to have gone to the rock show. Hearing about it as well, Lotus was glad it wasn't wasted on a rock novice like her. When presented with a gift, she stared at the stone silently for what may have seemed like ages until she hugged Wabi tightly and said "This is perfect thank you! I'm sure the stone will sooth my inner struggles."
