A letter is, appropriately enough, delivered to Polair's current place of residence one night -- it is waterproof (although made out of some leafy material), with a teal splotch stamped on it and a return address to somewhere in Four Fronds.. If she cares to open it, it reads:

Dear miss Rision,
I heard you were very inteliintelligent. My name is Inakov Diemer, and I am very interested in maybe having you teach me lots of things, if you would like ! I understand that I am only teal, compared to your very pretty blood, but I have a lot of interests and I think it would be really cool if you could teach me. I want to be the smartest tealblood there is. You would be very helpful in me getting there .

Inakov

There's a pressed flower pinned to the bottom of the letter in close to Polair's blood color -- it's not exact, but this young troll's never met her in person, and it's a fairly close match given everything.

That night, Polair's reading device decided to break, making the highblood to turn to more obsolete ways to read off her letter. She called a drone, the one she'd considered fit for the task and sat down as they read the tealblood's letter. She occasionally made them repeat the sentences, to interpret the sender's motives. Hmm...

She stood up, receiving the flower attached to it-- letting her hands explore the little thing she'd received. The blind troll began to think what she should do, she couldn't determine whether or not this troll had potential because this was a stranger. It wasn't as if it was suspicious but, she was surprised and perplexed. Had she shown off her smarts so much that she was starting to get acknowledged?

Somehow, she had to determine if the hassle would be worth it. She couldn't possibly cultivate a troll who wouldn't truly use their knowledge for greater good. Knowledge was power after all. There was only one thing to do. Instead of writing her back, she'd go there herself and meet Inakov. Probably rude of her to go to the child without telling her beforehand, but that would give her insights on who exactly this kid is, and what makes her, her. That's all Polair needed to evaluate. Willpower, discipline and motivation. She couldn't and wouldn't consider someone who didn't have such qualities. Really, a proactive troll is much qualified for... well, this.

Arriving her destination escorted by two drones, by Claud's request, Polair organized her thoughts and things, knocked on the hive door and waited to see if the tealblood was home.

There was the noise of a hurried rustle of limbs, something crashing to the floor with a metallic clang, and the door opened -- Inakov was hardly tall by any sense of the word, but she was nursing scraped and bloodied knees, the smell of antiseptic strong.

It was a solid ten seconds before she decided to speak, however. "...miss Polair?" There was a rustle of fabric - she'd made a little bow, it seemed. "...I didn't think you'd come all the way here...my hive's...it's kind of a mess. Is that okay?" This was her elder, her better, and Inakov was going to be about as polite as she could manage.

The strong smell of antiseptic when right through her airsacks as the door opened. Polair tilted her head down as soon as she heard Inakov's voice. She seemed respectful, which was a good sign. "Ah, you must be Inakov." The highblood said neutrally and did a reference. She dismissed her first question, waving a hand as it was nothing. Besides, entropy was a thing that happened in everyday life.

"Don't worry about it, it's fine. Besides, I should be the one giving out an apology-- I did come unannounced." The tall highblood did another reverence for the child and put her hands behind her back, straightening her posture. "I read your letter and I wish to discuss things with you, if you have time of course. May I come in?"

There was another few-second pause -- Inakov had placed her chin in her hand, because that was a Smart Thing to do and she was going to be So Smart. She stroked it for a second. "...if the mess is ok, of course. I made a path....nothing's sharp, so you should be fine. I don't like sharp things very much." She said it with immense gravity, as if it was an incredibly important thing to know, second only to the inevitability of death.

"...I didn't think you'd come here. Why?"

"Why?" She asked rhetorically. The highblood ran her fingers through her ebony black bangs as she went over her word choices.

"Simple, I don't waste time and will not allow anyone to waste it. It's useless to misuse it with someone who proves they aren't worth a second." Polair shrugged, going back to her firm posture. "I came here to evaluate you Inakov. Because I wish to see if you are, indeed, worthy of my time. To see if you are really capable of enduring this rigorous training you're after." Enlightenment isn't easily acquired and might not be the best thing for someone who expects immediate results. She knew this, and the highblood wasn't going to put up with whining nor stubbornness, nor another kidbot-like situation.

"Any other questions?"

Daekie

"...no more questions. I was just wondering." She extended her hand for a second - contemplated - withdrew it. Was that too familiar? It probably was. "I won't waste your time, I promise. What do you want to do...?" It was another question, sure, but she hadn't thought about that one in advance, it hadn't existed ten seconds ago when she'd made the statement.

She wouldn't be a disappointment. Inakov was going to be the Smartest Troll.

"I hope you stick to your promise." Polair held her chin, not expecting the child to still be interested after her usual strict displays, and thought of her next move. She felt slight amused though, and pleased to see she was up for a challenge. It wouldn't be easy, of course she'd make it a full learning experience.

Ah, she asked another question. She would've smirked slightly if this wasn't a serious, academic situation.

"I guess the first thing is for me to evaluate how much you know, to determine your strength and weaknesses in different academic areas." She muttered to herself, loud enough for the child to hear. "Hmmm... Are you hive-schoolfed or do you attend any schoolfeeding institution in particular Inakov?" Polair asked.

"I'm hive-schoolfed, miss," Inakov replied crisply, trying her absolute hardest to enunciate properly and to sound as smart as she could. "My lusus doesn't think it's smart for me to go to schoolfeeding places...I'm very clumsy, so...I would probably get hurt." She sounded a little sullen about it, but -- she was old enough to accept it was just kind of a fact of life.

Her heart clenched a bit. The tone of her voice just then... It reminded her about her own lusus and his paranoia. Polair breathed in and crouched down to Inakov height. Being hive-schoolfed wasn't at all bad, after all that's how she was raised! But being held captive sometimes got a bit... lonely.

"I think you have the capacity to attend a schoolfeeding institution if you wished. Don't let incoordination stop you from knowledge." She smiled sympathetically. "At least, I know what to do, with your schedule, I mean."

"Now, I am guessing you want to star from zero Inakov. Unless you can prove to me you have a sold base in mathematics, science, and politics... Are interested in a specific field of knowledge? A favorite one perhaps? I, for example, am interested in physics more than anything else."

"...I just like science in general," Inakov mumbled. "I really like stuff with texture, and I like to grow my own plants, but I dunno if that's really a good base for knowledge. But I'll do my best with whatever you give me," she reaffirmed with a clenched fist, thumping it over her blood pusher.

She wasn't held captive -- her lusus let her roam, but -- he worried. And she worried too much, and all that ended up leading to inevitable inability when it came to routine. Trips for food were safe, the city was a big place, she wasn't lowblooded -- but she could be accompanied by him, there, and it soothed her worries.

"...Physics sound...really cool, though."

"Then it won't be a problem to try and teach you a bit of everything." Yes, she could turn this child into someone great. Forge a great mind in a sea, or land in Inakov's case, of ignorance. Polair's bracelet let a low hum, as her aquatic bloodpusher fluttered. Oh, how she could envision their quest for knowledge!

"I see... Well, we could start up with Life Sciences and move through other fields once you've completely master it. However I expect for you to obtain high marks on your second evaluation." She tapped her chin thinking about the place they should study at. Her hive was the place to evaluate her, and she had to prove herself before that moment arrived.

"Alright." She nodded, she made up her mind. "Classes will start the night after tomorrow, giving me enough time to write up a list on the reading material you are required to read and for you to either buy or rent said books." Some of them were too expensive for bluebloods below, but they could be rented-- she could lend her some books, but really, she'd feel anxious about their state in her hands-- or anyone's hands. "Two hours per day should be enough, unless you think you could handle eight hours like any normals school-feeding institution. Breaks will be provided for either option, of course, so you don't burn out."

wrapping this up!! Inakov u did good -paps her-

"...I don't think I could do eight hours," Inakov admitted, looking almost ashamed. "But I'll try my hardest, I promise. I'm gonna be the smartest." Were it another medium - some animated replica of life, perhaps, where everyone was big-eyed and shiny-horned - there would have been an audible chime as the tealblood clenched her fist. "...I have some money saved up, 'cause I don't buy a lot of things...so I can buy all the books when you tell me the list...!"

"Good, good." She chuckled. Then there was nothing else to discuss, everything had been cleared out. Polair went over her to-do list mentally and checked off those little details they already talked about. Only thing left was to, send over the list of books and her first evaluation. "I will, expect a letter from me soon Inakov." She smiled. "Thank you for receiving in your lovely hive. See you soon."

Later that night, Polair began searching through her personal library, hand picking the bests books for Inakov to read and took some time out of her busy schedule to write down the child's first evaluation. Hopefully she'd receive both letters by tomorrow.

This girl showed potential, and Polair was determined to make her the smartest tealblood out there.
