Robert was a rather tall child in his youth. He lacked self confidence as kids his age teased him for his height. He eventually found refuge in theater arts where he was cast for the hero role in many plays. He eventually developed that persona when he had the courage to help others and trained to build his body up to face any challenge ahead of him, weather it was a long journey or fights with other kids. His family was a rather depressing one with both parents urging and changing their children's fates to give up the arts and learn trade skills. They wouldn't let him keep the theater arts skills and the dad eventually contracted him with many organizations to build houses and buildings. Robert was saddened by this but he had the fortitude to take on challenges and even have some social skills that could get him higher up the hierarchical ladder among nobles. Things like panting, playing instruments and even singing became secret hobbies he would do whenever he was given the time.
At the age of eighteen, he quickly got tired with being an adult and taking on adult responsibilities that he went home depressed every night after one month. His parents normally kicked out their children when they were old enough to work, so he couldn't rely on his parents for help or even see them until either children was rich and famous. Robert got no where, being the middle child of an older brothers and sister and younger brother and sister. Something was able to change his life one day and that was when he first saw ans studied a homeless girl that sold meager items like sticks and rotten vegetables for money, near a house he was contracted to help build. One lunch break, he decides to talk to her and instead of buying from her, he wants to help her get actual fire wood for her to sell and make a better profit. The homeless girl was rather meek and was sure to decline her offer but she had no other choice. Robert went to a tree and cut it down, cutting several good pieces for her and a bit for himself. The girl was thankful by this act of kindness when she finally started to make money she could live on. She warmed up to him and Robert took a liking to her because she saw him as a hero. Robert let her move into his house where she would cook and clean for him while he was out and then welcome him home after work, normally cheering him up. Weeks turned into months before Robert felt she was the one that he can take of and have a means to escape the mundane and exhausting work that is construction. He married her and lost his innocence to her, as while claiming hers. Unfortunately, those good times went to an end when Robert's wife caught a disease that left her lethargic and coughing a lot. Robert wasn't able to catch her sickness but he left her alone when she was too sick on some days. It didn't stop him from working and he was actually working on getting money so he could travel the world with her and let her see the world, as a thanks for not making him lonely in this world and that he mattered. It was one contract that he took that promised him an enormous sum of money if he traveled across a sea to build a home for an alchemist. On the day he was to leave, he bid and kissed his wife farewell to take care of the house while he was gone for a year. He was starting to miss her even when he had to leave her on their bed and hearing loud coughs as he left the house.
Robert traveled with eleven other men to go deep into a forest and build the strange man's house. What wasn't listed in the contract was that they could be attacked by the wild life and that the alchemist would be in charge of protecting them. Some builders died putting down the foundation and frame work but Robert managed to survive until the house was complete. The workers lived in an inn hat was a mile off, since the alchemist was doing magic work on the house every night after the builders finished a section. On the day it came to collect the pay and go to the alchemist's house, Robert found it eerie that it was quiet and he couldn't find his friends. He checked every room in the house before he went to a special room that was the laboratory. The alchemist and builders lay dead as a demon hovered above a demon portal in the ground and he saw Robert. He found a good deal of strength and potential in him, so he decided not to kill him unlike the other unworthy humans on the ground. Robert was stunned by the demon but he wasn't able to leave that room. The demon introduced himself as Mephisto Azazel and offered to teach him the ways of alchemy so that he can sure any human sickness and create gold out of rocks, if he only pledged his life to the demon. Mephisto tapped into Robert's memories and mentioned that his wife can be saved if he took this dark path. The idea alone was something Robert would want to pursue so he can not only save his sick wife but also the world. Running out of options while being cornered, he accepted the offer and stepped into the dark portal, where he met many demons and saw the hierarchy in hell.
Six hundred years of learning a new society, way of living and learning the rise and fall of human empires, Robert studied long and hard so that he could come back to that surface world and help people. Towards the last years of being a demon, he grew tired of the already corrupt system of the elite demons and wanted a way out, even if he sold his soul to Mephisto. He managed to find an opening and come back to the surface world but was already met with hostility as people saw a white lion-like creature parading the streets and trying to talk to people. Robert was shoo'd away every time and went into hiding so he could learn how to revert back to a human form. This made him ever conscious around people and sometimes it didn't take too long before humans found how suspicious he was.
