 Phonyland was a wonderful place, full of smiles, laughter, people and phonies connecting over rides and food...
There was also an insane number of alleyways. They weren't surly by any means, but they were a perfect place to hide, should anyone need a reason to.
And Baking News needed a reason to. He sat around a corner, pad and paper in hoof while a disposable camera hung around his neck on a lanyard. The thing was the definition of cheap: bought at a tourist stand, lime green and decorated with smiling phonies with over-exaggerated eyes. He scanned the crowd, waiting for his next scoop. He was on the Phonyland Elementary School Newspaper as a Writer in Training, which was an affectionate way of saying he hadn't gotten a story printed yet. But he was drawn to the club; he needed to talk to people about...things. He didn't know why. But he had this desire to just...tell people about stuff.
Brown eyes skipped over the individuals that went by, searching...searching...if a tail were attached to his back end, it would be flicking nervously. But alas, all he had to betray his anxiety was the slight shaking of his small frame.

Blue Eyed Melloon Synth's secret is that he's actually a creeper. *shot.*
While being swarmed by fans was annoying, the colt normally walked around in a disguise to deter such attention. However, today he was different. The unicorn was taking a very special route in order to pass by the Brew's family cafe in hopes that maybe, just maybe, he'd see Regal. The red phony blushed just thinking about her as he clip clopped down the street, practically floating. He'd never told her or anyone for that matter, but he really adored the filly from his class.
So, whenever he had some free time after a shoot he'd just casually walk by the cafe. Maybe stand outside for a few minutes, watching as his classmate helped her parents in their shop. It was extremely embarrassing and he was very careful to leave before Regal noticed he was there.

A strangely familiar foal crossed his path to the right, and he paused. He looked at the back of the kid's afro, head tilting this way and that while he tried to place where he'd seen him. The foal looked down an alleyway carefully, and suddenly it hit Baking. He was Synthesis, the actor from Stefan Galaxy! Baking openly stared, and when he casually strolled down a different side street, the colt followed him.
Following Synthesis around was slightly odd, but Baking was feeling a rush that he didn't know he could feel. He looked down at the camera bobbing along with his stride. He was going to get the best picture ever!

Blue Eyed Melloon lol. Wouldn't want it getting out that he was a stalker. XD XD
The unicorn trotted up to the cafe window, taking his usual spot at the very edge so that he just peeked in. His eyebrows jumped in happy surprise as he spotted her inside. He was so lucky! She was helping out today! With a happy shake of his tail Synth settled down to watch, unaware someone was watching him in turn.

THIS is what he stopped for!?
Baking stared from a nearby pile of boxes, most likely from the cafe that Synthesis was sitting in front of. Not entering, just watching. The spotted colt tilted his head from side to side, trying to figure out just what was going on, when he saw movement inside.
A filly walked passed the large front window. She was pretty, but she wasn't what changed Baking's mind about turning around and going home. It was Synthesis's reaction to her.
He seemed to perk up, and sat down, just...watching her?
"Ohmygosh." he whispered, fumbling for the camera around his neck. He cursed hooves and after a few seconds of battling the lack of thumbs, he steadied the eyepiece over his face.
Synthesis had a crush! Oh this was good! Everyone loved the child actor, and Baking even had to admit that he watched the show. The first couple snaps of the camera had him a little worried that it was took dark. The story wouldn't make sense without actual images to go with. So he pushed the button to activate the flash. He quickly made mental notes of where they were, what Synthesis was doing, a few catchy one-liners to make it a real good story.
And then he took the picture.

So focused on the goings on inside the cafe was he that Synthesis didn't even notice his classmate sneaking up behind him. He may even have been drooling a bit, mesmerized by Regal's elegance in the shop. Watching her work was like watching a ballet!
Lost amongst these thoughts, the click of a camera and the sudden flickering of a flash jolted Synth back to reality.
Oh. No.
This was literally the worst thing that could possibly happen! How could he be so stupid and let himself get caught! Not only would the whole world find out, but Regal would and she would undoubtedly hate him for it!
Whirling about, the colt spotted one of his classmates wielding a camera pointed in his direction.
"Baking... That's your name right? What did you just take a picture of?" Synth called, shaking.

Baking's eyes widened even has his smile shrank. The flash caught him. Curse his want for a perfect shot! "Ah...uh...." he stammered, stashing the camera around his shoulder and trying to act natural. "I uh, was just admiring this trash bag. Yeah! It's....color is so....dark..." He laughed haltingly, trying not to break out in a sweat. This was bad. badbadbad.

He took a picture of a trash bag? Why would anyone take a picture of a trash bag... Synth frowned at the other colt, finding this really hard to believe. If he were to take a picture of a trash bag wouldn't the glare from the flash ruin the shot? The red unicorn grimaced at the other child as he puzzled through it.
Since his classmate taking a picture of a trash bag didn't make any sense that could only mean the other colt was lying. If he was lying to him then there must be a reason for it and that reason was...
Oh no! He was done for! If Regal or anyone found out what he'd be doing Synth would be a laughingstock. Regal would think he was weirdo and it would be bad press for his show. The unicorn's eyes widened as he stared at Baking in horror.
"Please!" He begged, getting down on his knees. "Please delete that picture!"

Baking stared at the foal in front of him, amazed. He had never seen a phony beg before, and it made his uncomfortable frankly. Synth didn't look mad, or upset. He looked...scared.
Baking blinked, and looked away. This was the biggest story he'd probably ever get in his life. He'd be famous; news reporters everywhere would want to talk to him. He might even get to be a real reporter someday...
But as he looked back into Synth's eyes, he felt his heart hurt. Doing that would mean revealing something that the foal actor wasn't ready to tell anyone about. Plus, who knew how the filly would react. She might freak out...
The colt sighed, and rubbed his hoof down his face. This was a serious dilemma indeed.
In the end, his heart won out, in a sense. He sighed, taking the camera off of his neck, and handing it to Synth. "Here." he said, a bit of sadness in his voice. "Delete it. I...wasn't thinking when I took that picture. Well, I was, I was only thinking about what it could do for me. "
"I'm sorry." he added, ears drooping. "I just wanted a good story to tell."

Synth let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. He was safe! Baking wasn't going to reveal his big secret. Regal wouldn't find out and hate him. He wouldn't get bad press that could hurt his career. The red uni slumped over in relief.
Tears welled in the colts eyes as he hit the delete button on the camera then threw his hooves around the other child's neck.
"Thank you so much! Let me- let me do something for you." The foal stuttered, trying to think of how to repay his classmate for giving up such a big chance. "How would you like to interview the cast of Stefan Galaxy?"

Baking was surprised he was getting a hug after all that just went down. I mean, he almost revealed the colt's biggest secret! But he was glad that there wasn't any animosity between them.
He was about to tell Synth that he didn't need to do anything, and then his brain malfunctioned.
"Interview...the cast!? he gasped out, face turning white. THE cast of Stefan Galaxy!? If he did that...they'd have to let him on the paper for sure!
"I...I...I would love that!" he stammered, taking back the camera and staring down at it as if it were the only ti to reality. Because this couldn't be happening. "But, I don't understand why. I mean, I was gonna do something horrible, and now you're going to do something nice for me?"
