There it was… calling to him, taunting him mercilessly; a plush toy in the shape of a paint pallet with ridiculous googly eyes that stared into the depths of Rogue Gallery’s soul. The plush was squished between multiple other, far more normal, toys and the glass cage that was the crane game. The colt would be able to touch it if it wasn’t for the glass prison the plush was in. Rogue Gallery had already wasted his bits trying to get the toy, but it was positioned just so that it was nearly impossible for the claw of the game machine to catch it. No other toy would do, he just had to have this one. The machine and the young bab were outside in an area of the park that was riddled with various games designed to take bits and rarely pay out; typical carnival type games. It was a bit later in the evening and the park’s crowds had died down with the sun setting. With Rogue’s desire for the plush burning inside him, his mind was settled. There just had to be a way to ‘free’ the plush from it’s mechanical prison. He tried to jiggle it loose with unicorn magic, but it would not budge. He tried to rock the machine, but it was firmly planted to the ground. Rogue let out a sigh then glanced around. No one seemed to be watching… maybe he could just break into the machine. The colt jammed his hoof into the prize slot, but his legs were too short for it to even make a difference. He walked around, examining the machine until he found the panel that employees used to fill the machine. Perfect. Trying to be sneaky, Rogue tried to turn the screws on the panel loose using his horn. Fea Line Rogue is so naughty. Someone needs to teach him elements, badly.

It had been such a fun day!!
Cotton Fluff had gone out to a carnival and had an absolute BLAST checking out the rides and the games and mmmmm the food! She had stuffed herself beyond full and probably spent every last bit she had brought along on various games to win the cheesy, silly, cheaply made plushies littered about. Her bags had been so over stuffed she looked like some kind of strange plush monster with all of them strapped to her back.
And yet she still wasn't done!
Despite the fact that things seemed to be winding down, Cotton Fluff pranced herself around towards the area where a ton of various machines were littered about filled with the more random prizes. It was then she spotted the maroonish figure of a young colt slip around back of one of the claw machines. "Huh?" she blinked, not quite sure what she had seen at first. But then she knew...
Casting aside her things (albeit gently), she raised a hoof to the gem on her necklace. A loud bang from a nearby ride went off, several people screamed in the distance, a few lights of cameras flashed and....wait.... was she wearing different clothes now? Eh, details.
Stepping up slowly, Cotton remained quiet at first, not wanting to startle the colt. She had to really be sure he was trying to do what she thought he was....zippedsiren 5 YEARS LATER..... imsosorry

Rogue was so focused on his task that he didn't notice the sounds or figure of the yellow mare coming up towards him. He diligently continued on his fiendish take to get the prize palette plush. A screw came loose and clunked to the ground, followed by another and another until the all 4 were out. The unicorn was able to slide the panel out from the back of machine. The whole was just large enough that he was able to squeeze himself through. Half his body disappearing into the pile of plushes, trying to swim up. Just a hind leg poked out.

Cotton's features slightly skewered. She bit her lip as she marched towards the machine, an odd feeling rising inside her. On one hoof this was morally wrong. On another... she could argue about the fact that these machines stole bits for no pay out either. And on the other other hoof... it was full of adorable plushies!!!
Containing herself, Cotton cleared her throat loud enough in hopes to alert the foal to her presence. "Just exactly what do you think you are doing young mister!" she asked loudly in her most stern voice as possible. Her nose pressed against the glass as she strained to see the half of him that was swimming through a mountain of adorableness.

Fea Line omg a billion years later... What was that? Rogue could of swore he heard something of a vaguely threatening adult tone. Curious, the bab's body disappeared farther into the abyss of the machine. It was long before his horn, ears and eyes could be seen poking out between the plushies. His yellow eyes blinked catching the blue eyes of the adult. The bab's heart sank a little bit as he realized he was caught, but perhaps he could play it off dumb. Pulling himself up, the magenta bab popped his head fully out of the pit of animals, as he leaned in close to the glass and the adult's face on the other side. "Wot? I couldn't hear you .. routine maintenance and you know how that goes." Rogue smiled cheekily.

Cotton eyed the colt suspiciously, narrowing her eyes but raising one eyebrow. She glanced around at the other array of machines before back at the little maroon bab swimming in plushies. Part of her was jealous.
Like, extremely jealous.
The other half however, as unfair as these game machines were, knew that this wasn't right at all. Stealing was never the way to go about things. It might pay off in an instant but not usually for long. Besides, she had so many plushies she could just gift upon this little foal.
"Now I'm not an expert but... I've been around a few claw machines in my time. I'm pretty sure that's now how maintenance works." she said in a serious tone, though a slight smile curved at her lips. Her bouncy pigtails bounced against her head as she shook it. "What are you really up too in there, hmm?" she turned her head to the side and pressed it against the glass, her blue eyes wide, the tiny heart on her cheek accentuated against the glass.

It had been worth a try. "Ah, I guess you caught me fair and square." Rogue shrugged and laughed it off. "I just wanted to know what it would feel like to be swimming in a pile of plushes?" As Rogue lied some more, he pretended to do the backstroke as he fell back into the plush. His goal of the paint palette plush was so close, surely he could sneak it out whenever he managed to get out. As his swimming strokes nudged him closer to the goal. "You sure you won't want to try this too?"

Having him admit that she had caught him the act felt nice. Also easy.
Almost too easy.
Cotton was about to be suspicious of his further behavior when the foal happened to speak what was like a magic phrase for her and she froze. Her eyes went wide as her facial features lit up, beaming brighter than any light around them. "Oh my goodness, YESS. Yes yes! All the time!" she squeaked, clapping her hooves together before smooshing her nose closer against the class. Her tone now close to a whisper. "I make plushies. So i have huge piles at home....and sometimes I just can't help but to dive right inn---wait." she paused and leaned back, now eyeing him suspiciously again.
"Don't think you can trick me with your sweet words! I still know what your up too in there." she squinted again, glancing at every single plush around him as if she were some detective. "Which one are you after...."

Rogue knew he could be smooth when he wanted to, but he wasn't expecting such a reaction from the adult. His eyes widened at her admission of her hobbies. This mare was clearly crazy and he was not expecting such a rapid gleeful expression at the idea of swimming in plushies. He just imagined the yellow mare diving head first into a giant pool of stuffed bears, cats, and dogs. The mental image was almost too ridiculous... yet so was this situation, as he himself was smooshed between various animal shapes. The magenta colt let out a loud laugh. "You really do that?" "That's too awesome." It took several moments for him to stifle the giggles, Rogue rolled about chortling until he let out a long drawn out breathy heeee sound, wiping eyes against his foreleg. "I'm in the machine... to get that paint palette, " Rogue pointed towards the artistic inanimate object plush. "... and because it's fun."

"Don't say it so loudly!" she laughed herself, even if it was a small one. "I can't have everyone knowing my secrets!" she giggled, bringing a hoof to her snout as if to silence herself.
Watching the colt laugh made Cotton stop and really think about things. Of all the things he could be stealing, a plush was probably low on the list of things. Albeit the act of stealing was still wrong. And yet she felt like she couldn't go too harsh on him.
Besides, he had good taste.
"Aah I remember that one. Took me about three tries to get it right. I think I still have the earlier concepts back home..." she mused aloud, to herself and yet also to him. A slight sparkle light up in her eyes. She couldn't help but grin wider now. "As fun as it is. I'm still going to have to insist that straight up stealing it is wrong." she spoke, however her tone held a bit of a 'but' to it.
"Why don't we strike a deal?" she smiled again, this time giggling now just a bit louder.

"I can keep a secret for sure," Rogue winked at the older mare. "Oh you have one too? 3 tries seems about right I guess to win the crane gam....wait a minute, "Rogue paused mid sentence as the words actually dawned on him. "So you made these!? No way. I didn't know the these were hoof made items. I thought they just came from some factory somewhere not straight from the park." Rogue gave a devilish grin at the idea of a trade, "What kind of deal did you want to make?"

A grin spread across Cotton's face, a slight twinkle in her eye.
It was true, most of the plushies came from a factory, but not all of them. She made plenty in her spare time that she found extra's to put into games for young colts and fillies to win. But she couldn't single hoofedly supply everything. But what she could supply was a certain paint pallet plush for a certain maroon colt.
"Well, if you come on out of there, without stealing, I might just let you off the hook with a warning..." she paused, looking sternly down at the foal. Then she leaned in closer and lowered her tone just a tad. "...and that paint plush, no bits required. Just a promise."

Rogue took his sweet time considering his options. Stay in the machine or have this mare make him his own paint palette plush. There was a certain pleasure in already having achieved the break-in, but he felt oddly more pleased that his antics and quips made the mare laugh enough that she was willing to strike a deal instead of turning him in. It was also difficult to say no to his own custom made plush. Decision made, the colt wiggled his way out of the machine in no time and flashed his hooves. "Nothing to see here, right? So we have deal!" Rogue used his magic to pull a pen and paper sticky note out from his saddle bag. With a quick magical scribble, he wrote down his address and handed it over to the yellow mare. "Any time you're able to deliver on this deal." Their transaction over, lightning fast, Rogue screwed the back of the panel back onto the machine, but when he turned around the yellow mare was gone and disappeared into the night. Rogue was left amused and a little confused on what just happened.
