Nictor Sabbat

Beehemoth was quite pleased when he got the go ahead from the treebeast. Treebeasts were quite rare and could be difficult to approach, but the flowers they grew on their body and in their gardens were usually some of the most delightful flowers one could ever get their hands on.

Bee approached, clicking his thanks and immediately starting in on the kinds of flowers he usually collected pollen from and if the treebeast would be interested in anything specific. Bee was relatively well traveled after all, having to go out and collect all the pollen and nectar for the honey he makes.

As he came close to the blooms, static was already doing it's job to help Bee collect the new pollen.

Nictor blinked a bit at the greenblood. His face still seemed grumpy, but a bit resigned to the proceedings. Nictor offered nod and looked back to the two lusii. Nictor couldn't help the small smile at how delighted Bee was. The yellowblood honestly wouldn't mind hanging around, it would make a nice break from working and he liked seeing Beehemoth happy.

Nictor abruptly tensed up, remembering how Bee had told him not long ago about running into a giant flesh eating plant that had tried to lure Bee in with sweet smelling nectar. Was this other lusus some kind of tricky carnivore? Would the greenblood even stop his lusus if it was? Why should the greenblood even care if a yellowblood lost their lusus, it was probably jsut par for the course for him.

Nictor bit his lip hard, trying to calm himself down by thinking about how the greenblood had checked on him and given him salve. That meant he was a nicer troll, yeah? He wouldn't go around letting his lusus eat other kid's lusii. Probably.

Sephos had seen the whole pollenation dance before, and he didn't really want to watch it again. Though it was certainly an intimate act, Sephos didn't have an awkward aversion to it, like he might be with buckets. Mostly, he just wasn't interested in seeing it again. He wasn't studying it, after all. So long as it was done, it was done.

Maku, for his part, was increasingly delighted. Such an experienced bee, asking such polite questions! In a season or two, yes he would need pollen from his own kind. But for now, the flowers he was growing on his beard would be hooommmm happy to recieve. Such a garden he would plant from their seeds! Indeed, feel free to take from the nectaries too, the flowers without pollen. A get-to-know-you gift, of sorts.

Instead, he looked around him. At the drones. At the robots. At the machinery. None of it was really that interesting, and he still was a little uneasy about all the metal around him. Finally, he looked back at the quiet yellowblood.

Sephos didn't mind the company, honestly. He'd been hoping to get his new planting stuff back to the dorm room to set up, but that wasn't going to happen. With someone, without someone, either way he would be waiting a while. He didn't mind the silence, either. Some of his best mornings were spent in silence over tea with Rastin. Or, picking apples in silence with Valaon. Eridia talked enough for all of them, not that he minded.

But this kid seemed nervous and agitated, his expression constantly shifting and changing. Sephos wasn't sure what it meant, but eventually he got curious enough to ask.

"What?"

While the whole act was not within the same context it might be for flora creatures, it was no less important for Bee, and he treated it with much respect and reverence. Nectar and pollen was, after all, the basis for his work and home. Honey, wax, food, it all depended on the flowers he could find, and if they were sentient flowers, it was only polite to ask! Bee knew how important it was for the flowers too, to be able to continue their growth and spread.

Bee tasted some of the nectar and chittered in delight. Bee went about his business, rubbing pollen off his fluff for the treebeast as he collected nectar for what would certainly be some delightful honey. Happily, Bee clicked and hummed about how he'd love to help the treebeast get pollen they needed and how Bee's own little grub was growing up and would soon be learning to collect pollen himself.

Bee cut himself off for a moment and chittered quickly, apologizing. He'd forgotten to introduce himself! Beehemoth shared his own name and rather proudly shared Nictor's too. Three guesses as to what Nictor was named after and the first two don't count.

Nictor jolted when the greenblood addressed him, barely choking back the yelp. He'd forgotten himself for a minute there, caught up in his own thoughts and had been fidgeting more as he agitated himself.

Nictor nearly responded 'what what?' but something about that struck him as not a great idea. Obviously the greenblood expected him to know what he was getting at. The only thing Nictor was doing was shifting and wiping his palms a lot and biting his lip and... oh. Right. It was that normal 'what?' then. It wasn't the most unusual thing, mostly Nictor got weird looks that he'd eventually connected to his nervous behavior, but usually it was ignored.

How do you explain to a troll that you were just thinking about their lusus possibly being a horrible carnivore that was about to eat his lusus (despite the rather happy conversation the lusii were engaged in) and that you thought said other troll was going to help his lusus eat Nictor afterwards too.

That seemed like a really bad idea to explain.

Nictor glanced over at Bee and the treebeast for again, just to reassure himself one last time. And he could have sworn he heard his name mentioned.

Back to the greenblood that was was eyeing him expectantly. Nictor didn't have a good excuse. Oh no, what did he say.

"Uhhh, ah," Nictor stuttered. What did he do, what did he do? He didn't think the greenblood would care for him suggesting his lusus would hurt Bee, but also he didn't have a better explanation and the greenblood was waiting for an answer. "I j-j-just, ah, i j-j-j-ust hope th-things g-go well be---tween them."

There, that was neutral enough right? And considering some failed encounters Bee has had, it was a valid concern.

Maku shared his name and moved to help facilitate access to his many flowers - including the ones that had decided to bloom in inconvenient areas of his 'body'. He thought Nictor was a wonderful name for a troll... he'd had his reasons for naming Sephos, just as the troll that had raised him had had his reasons for giving him his own name...

"Huh." Sephos shrugged and watched the two of them interact. That didn't really answer his question, but it was as good an answer as any other, he supposed. "Probably." he said. There was a moment of silence before Sephos decided to add to it. "He only does that... bending thing... when he's trying to get more attention from a pollenator." he explained, "An' he does that croony-moany thing when he wants them to come back." Of course, he meant 'speaking', but nobody else understood the treebeast and it was a very different tone than usual.

More silence. "So..." Sephos frowned (more than usual), "You like flowers, right?"

Beehemoth carried on with his song and dance, chittering and chattering away, quite delighted with the whole affair. Yes, yes, trolls were odd things, weren't they? But oh, oh, his little grub was a delight!

If there was something on Alternia that Beehemoth was completely devoted to besides collecting pollen and making honey, it was his precious little grub. Bee rarely had the chance to talk to anyone save Nictor, but considering how doting and protective the buzzbeast was, was it any surprise that he began excitedly chittering away about his ward

As a matter of fact...

Nictor eyed the two lusi, glad to know that the noise wasn't some kind of wind up for devouring creatures drawn in by the treebeast's flowers. Unless the greenblood was lying and it was some kind of involuntary audio cue that whoever had come too close was about to die. That would suck. That would really suck. Nictor hoped the greenblood wasn't lying.

Assuming the greenblood was telling the truth, this wouldn't be the last Nictor saw of him or the treebeast lusus. Beehemoth was always looking for reliable pollen resources. Just because he and Nictor were on am extended field trip away from home did not mean that search was on hold. Still, Nictor couldn't help his nerves.

Why did existing have to be so stressful? The greenblood wasn't doing anything mean or aggressive, he'd even helped him earlier. His actions were helpful, but his demeanor set Nictor on edge. Was the greenblood making that face because of a yellowblood hanging about around him? Did something particularly lousy happen today? Was he bothered by their lusi ignoring them?

There was the possibility that the greenblood's face was simply set like that, but that felt a bit too hopeful in Nictor's book.

Frown or not, Nictor couldn't deny that, so far, the greenblood had done nothing to make himself out to be a threat of some kind.

Nictor breathed deep, letting his eyes close for a few moments as he listened to the familiar noises of his guardian. It sounded like Bee was talking about him or something, but he was less focused on what was being said and just the sounds that Bee made. Familiar and comforting. Friendly and protective, not at all like the greenblood's rather off putting expression and critical stare.

Nictor jumped a little when the greenblood spoke up once more, eyes snapping back open and staring owlishly at the other troll.

"O-oh, ahh," Nictor fumbled, wiping his palms nervously on his legs. "Y-yeah. Th-they're, uh, n-nice."

Well that was a bland answer. Nictor wasn't expecting the greenblood to try and strike more conversation though! What if that wasn't enough of an answer? Why in the world would the greenblood want to know though? At the end of the day, it didn't matter if Nictor understood, what mattered was that he answered.

"Th-they're, ah, th-they sme---ll nice a-a-and th-th--aHH!" Nictor's amended answer cut off as he was scooped off the ground by familiar fluffy insectoid arms, new pollen immediately coating his clothes and showering into his hair as Bee excitedly dragged him over to meet the treebeast.

Nictor's noises of protest were ignored while Bee chided him, insisting he should meet the treebeast. Floral friends were quite valuable in his line of work, a line Nictor was going to be learning in the not so distant future.

Nictor found himself staring up at the treebeast, the massive, comforting presence of Bee looming just behind him and this unknown stranger tall and unyielding in front of him. Well, Nictor trusted Bee, and if Bee said the treebeast was okay, so, they should be okay.

"Ahhh, uh, h-hi," Nictor managed, offering a weak, nervous smile, while Bee fairly well preened just behind him. Euuugh, he'd been in the middle of answering that greenblood too. What if this manged to upset him?

Forgot what i was doing here, pretending that I remembered.
Lets get this done so they can hang out as teens someday @.@

Yes, flowers were nice and they did smell nice. Sephos could agree. He'd been about to offer when the buzzbeast decided to introduce the yellowblood to his lusus, and he watched from the ground. He didn't see a reason to interfere, and apparently this was good? He had no idea, and he didn't care, particularly.

Maku gave the little yellowblood a wave, though he wasn't entirely sure why they seemed so upset. Too polite to comment on it, however, he instead commented on how the childs horns resembled the bee, praising the appearance of both. He wished that his own 'horns', branches that grew from his head, looked a little more like his child's, but he was glad to see that Sephos's horns were growing in so gracefully. He'd been so worried that they would catch or break, but... he glanced down at his charge, remembering that there had actually been a conversation. He was distracting them from the subject at hand.

It was so good to hear that Nictor liked flowers! He hoped that their children would get along and talk about flowers, maybe in the forest, where his garden was? It would make it so much easier to pollenate everything if their children were friends!

Sephos supposed so? This was a very confusing conversation. "I got flowers with me." He said, "If you want them."
