Sparrow was sitting in her nest, elbows pressing against her thighs as she leaned forward and stared intently at two pairs of eyes before her. Bright blue, intense as their feathers. In some sense, they reminded her of her pride and joy Stellar Jay, but of course they came from elsewhere. She knew exactly from where they'd come, how they'd come to be, and why they were sitting before her now. After all, she was no longer naive in this regard; already once she had laid her eggs - what had come of the second one? - and raised her child to be great and strong.

What an event that had been with Wakinyan (and the others). Never before had she felt so flustered, especially not for a male. Oh, even thinking of him in her memories sent an exhilarating jolt through her spine and brought warmth to her cheeks~ To think a male could be so delectable and the things that could be done with so many others about her. Heh... That was a time she'd soon never forget.

The eggs to follow has both been a surprise, yet expected. If anything, her only contention was if any of the others had come to have eggs of their own.

That might have hurt her pride a bit.

Elsewhere in the nest, two little, freshly-hatched chicks lay on their sides and back, eyes wandering to observe the world about them. There had been little delay between their emergence; in fact, if Sparrow had not watched tentatively, she would not have known which was older herself. Even now, she could barely tell the two apart by their identical appearance.

Actually... she could completely not differentiate between the two, which is why they both remained. For now.

"Which of you is which....?" she mused aloud, reaching forward to poke at one's stomach (it was the girl), much to it's delighted (or was that pained?) squeal. Yeah... Bless Celestia, there were no distinguishing traits between the two; same eyes, same feathers, same markings... Perhaps she was just seeing double?

A brushing of the tail feathers of the second pushed such thoughts away. Nope, they were both well and alive.

Regardless, it was going to be mighty inconvenient to have them remain so identical. She needed a way to determine one from the other, and she needed it quickly. Well, actually, she didn't need it, after all, she could simply pick one of them as preferred and let the other one go. It would be easier on her to only have one, just as Stellar Jay had been but her only consideration. Yes, perhaps that would be the best alternative to keeping both.

But which to be rid of...? Hmm. Her first inclination was to remove the younger, by however little time, from the nest. After all, those that rose late were bound to fail. The trouble was which this was. She'd just have to choose randomly. To do so, she grabbed a flower blooming in a nearby tree and began pulling apart its petals. It was a method of decision-making she'd learned as a child herself.

Left... Right... Left... Right... Left... Right... Left...

Left.

Ah yes, the left one. This one did appear marginally smaller (it was likely a forced perception). A smile came to her lips, her eyes narrowing slightly to resemble that when she hunter. Oh yes... This would make things much easier.
