Nereus walked softly into the trees on the outer rim of the mountain. He wasn't expecting to meet anyone on his patrol of the Lands the Clan held under their control. For the most part the Clan was nestled in the tops of the mountains, and where it would be hard for others to find them. He loved everything about the life in the clan, even though the crown prince had decided to venture into the rest of the world. He was very content to remain in the Clan. He knew his duty and he would do it without fail. He wouldn't leave to others what he himself could accomplish. This was his home and he would protect it as such!

His protective nature flared and he puffed out his chest. He would defend his home and his clan with his life. He was fiercely loyal to both, and his feelings ran deep. One day he would have a family of his own. His goals were small, Protect his Clan, find someone who would stand by him as he stood by them, and create a family that he could love and protect. He felt those were the main goals of anyone in the clan. It wasn't like they had enemies since the uniting of the kingdoms into the Clan. The war between the phoenix and the dragons had been ended by the heirs to the lands of each. No one had known during that time that they had secretly loved each other. It was their forbidden love. 'One day....' he thought, 'One day I will find my other half...' It didn't matter to him when it happened and he wasn't particularly looking, but it was something that stuck in the back of his mind. After all, mating to another was the way of the Clan.

He sighed as he shook his head in an attempt to clear it. It was time that he returned to the main common area of the Clan and finished his patrol. He smiled as he walked, he took in the scenery around him. It was when he drew nearer to the main area that he saw another. He stopped where he was, he didn't wish to interrupt anything they might be doing. It would be horrible if he trampled on an omen given to them from the stars if it was an oracle. It was safer to wait and be invited over, but he decided that it was best to try and tell who it was, from the looks of things, it was one of the Phoenix kingdom's members. They were joined now, but there was nothing saying that all of the feelings of the past had been erased that easily. there were still many that held true to the ideals of the purity of the old kingdoms, and the old ways. There were still others that clung to the times of fighting and separation. He craned his neck to see if he could further see who it was that was in this lower area of the main commons area. He tried his best to make out who it was, heaven forbid he step in the wrong place. The fear ran lightly down his back as he thought about the many possibilities, only time would tell if he would even be noticed.

Eternity's two sets of wings were pulled in against her side as she stood in what others called the lowers commons. She wasn't too sure exactly why it was called lower commons... Well aside from the location, it seemed to be the farthest from where the clan lives. The mare didn't usually stray this far from the main territory but the flutter of butterfly wings had brought her here. She was straining to listen and take in the scents around her. This omen was different then all the others that she had interpret. This one was meant for her. She used her nose to gently touch the leaves... She had to find the one that the butterfly was on and drink the drew from the leaf... Her spirit walk would reveal the omen.

It was hard for her to stay calm. Learning one's own future would be hard. It didn't happen often for the oracles but she had learned about one in the past that had predicted her own death, and in fear she tried to prevent it and an even great tragedy came... So Oracles were forbidden to do anything to change their destinies. Eternity blindly trusted her teachings and beliefs, she had experienced them first hand after all. She was blind, when she emerged from her basket her eyes were simply colored black and she was never able to see. The Oracles took this as a great sign. But it made her ability to read the signs of above differently than the others who used their sight. A whole new way to read the stars had been created.

The dainty mare finally reached the leaf, the butterfly fluttered off and Eternity drank the drop of dew. Her body went ridge as she saw the images in her mind's eye. The colors of passion, and happiness sparkled brightly. An unknown stallion's silhouette appeared amongst the colors... As the vision passed, the mare stared forward, she had... She had just seen that she would fall in love, and it would be with a stallion she didn't seem to know. She frowned, falling in love! That would get in the way of her readings and she wouldn't be able to fully commit herself to her service as an Oracle and serving the clan.

She sighed and raised her face toward the sky. The sun warming her pelt. She would speak with an elder oracle, it was possible that she was misinterpreting this. Truthfully it wasn't likely but...

Her ears gave a twitch and she felt the presence of another. She was in a wooded area... It was possible it was an outsider... She was vulnerable out there. She rotated her head to see if she could hear where this other horse was and she turned her body to face the general direction that they were at.

"H-hello...?" Her voice was timid.

Nereus had stayed where he was. It was far easier to remain in the shadows of the tree branches and the bushes then it was to walk out and face whoever was standing there. He was simply worried that the other who was there with him was an oracle. It wasn't that he feared prophecy, but that he didn't have anything to do with it. It was this unknown thing to him. The way they could determine omens and read things from the stars. He never quite felt comfortable with that thought lurking in the back of his mind. 'What will I do if it's one of the Oracles?' He hadn't tried to avoid them completely, but he hadn't gone out of his way to meet with them either. Knowing the unknown just was odd to him. He liked the fighting and the protecting. He enjoyed the feel of being a warrior. Being able to do things with his own four hooves. He didn't have to rely on anyone or anything and eventually, eventually he would become a Kanshou. He would become one of the elite warriors of the clan tasked with protecting the royal family.

That was his dream, and he would find a way to make it come true. His mind was interrupted when he heard the small "Hello..." come from the courtyard. It was a female's voice, and one he hadn't heard before. He was instantly nervous. He stammered a little bit before walking out into the open. He said as he walked "Hello My Lady...." with a bow of his head. He hadn't stopped to take note of her rank, and figured it was best to wait for her to allow him to raise his head. "It is a lovely night for a stroll isn't it?" Every one of his nerves were on end, and it took all of his will power to keep his voice from shaking. He was usually a fierce and calm stallion, but where mares were concerned and oracles, he could be reduced to being a coward. He hadn't stopped to notice who she was or anything about her quite yet, so he had absolutely no idea who he was dealing with. He could only wait and hope that she would be kind enough to forgive his transgressions if this turned out to be her private courtyard, since he had to admit he was terribly lost.

It seemed like it was taking forever, but he was a trained warrior. He was a knight, and he would act as one. It was customary to bow before the nobility of the clan and the oracles. He wasn't sure if she was one of either but he was covering his bases by following order to their full and complete length. It would not be he who offended an Oracle or one of the Nobility. He was but a lowly Warrior, who served the clan. He would await her reply forever if it took that long. This thought steadied him, and melted away his nerves so that they had almost never been there. He was the steadfast warrior once more.

The blinded mare stared off in the direction that the stallion's voice came from. She gave her tail a flick and wondered why he had stopped talking... She could hear his breathing. "Oh, it's night?" She raised her head. The warmth she felt on her face she thought was the sun. But maybe it was just a flush from her prophecy...

Her ear swiveled back and forth like sonar. Oh wait. If he was of a lower station he would have customs that needed to be followed and Eternity needed to remember what they were so that she could acknowledge them. "O- Please rise." She stated. She wonder how long it would take for the stallion to realize that she was blind. He likely had no idea who she was, his voice didn't sound familiar. "Please no need to be so formal." She hoped that, that would dismiss the formalities.

Nereus waited for her to speak, and for her to acknowledge him. He had no way of knowing who this mare was. He watched the ground as his thoughts swirled around in his mind. He waited on edge in order for her words to grace his ears. When they finally did, he was for a moment relieved, the formalities were lifted by her words. He didn't have to remember all of the minor little things that he needed in order to address one of the higher ranks than himself. He then lifted his head and took in her full appearance. His eyes went wide, and he could feel himself straighten and stiffen. 'She's stunning.....' was the thought that ran through his mind.

"My Lady...."
He noticed her blindness, but it didn't effect him, it just seemed to make her even more mysterious to him. He hadn't met another that had captivated his attention as she seemed to have. Her voice had been so soft and friendly. "It is indeed night time, I am sorry to have disturbed you from your activities..." His mind wondered what she was doing down here, but he dared not to ask, even if the formalities had been passed, it wasn't something he was willing to risk asking. "I am Nereus of the Guard..." He felt it best to at the very least introduce himself to her. He couldn't place her station within the clan, but he knew with the way she carried herself that it had to be higher. He pushed the thoughts of her being an oracle from his mind for the time being. It was better if he combat his slight fear of female companions before he dealt with his slight fear of Oracles.

He hadn't had many dealings with them and his main fear was simply that they would tell him too much about his own future. He didn't want to know anything and felt it better that he didn't know. He knew the warnings of others who knew their fates and tried to change them, only to wind up in a much worse fate than they had originally known. He refused to let that happen to himself. He wanted a family and he wanted to have that family for a long while. He wanted nothing more than to protect his clan and pass in his sleep at a ripe old age. He knew in his line of work and in his station that this was probably not going to happen. He was working towards one day being a Kanshou, which would mean he would be less likely to see that ripe old age, but he wanted the station and the honor. He was very proud, and he tried not to show it.

"Might I escort you....?" He took a step closer, but he wouldn't breach the necessary boundaries. He would make sure that her honor was upheld to the fullest. He was a knight warrior after all. His code of honor and chivalry was a high one. He would not stray from it easily. He would not approach her further unless she accepted his invitation. There was a side of him that wanted to remain with her, and learn more about her. She intrigued him.

The mare felt the stallion rise and maybe even relax now that the formalities were dismissed. Her hear gave a slight tilt as she listened to him. It was nice... It much have been a warm season then. But when the stallion introduced himself at first she felt herself relax, he was of the guard and that was a good thing. But his name triggered a flash in her mind's eye of her self prophecy. Could this be the stallion? Her ears perked up and grew curious of him. She had to remember that there were plenty of stallions she didn't know in The Clan and not to mention she had to let things occur naturally. She wondered of the healers maybe had something to help her forgot the prophecy...

"My name is Eternity, I'm an Oracle." She smiled and hoped that he wouldn't be frightened off by her being an Oracle. She could tell some of the others were a bit more intense and even intimidated her more often then not. "An escort would be most appreciated. I fear I've traveled farther into the gardens then I intended."

Nereus watches and waited and hoped all at the same time. He was hoping that she would accept his invitation. His nerves were still there in the back of his mind, but he tried to calm them. He would escort her only if she accepted, and he would do everything in his power to make sure she got back safely. Not that the clan wasn't a safe place, but there still were those who lurked in the shadows, those who didn't approve of the way the clan had come together. He knew there would always be purists inside the clan who would try to look for any excuse in order to attempt to reinvigorate the feud from so many years ago. He would do his best to see that feud remained buried deep within the earth. He did not want to see the split happen between the phoenix and the dragons once more. He carried the blood of both. It would also outcast him from both sections of the clan. His feathers were a clear tell of his phoenix blood and his dragon jaw and wings were clear tells of his dragon lineage. He refused to be an outcast once more. He would fight those who sought to separate the clans once more.

When she said her name and her station he was amazed and a bit scared all at the same time. The oracles did frighten him, but she had a calming nature about her. He wasn't sure what it was but she didn't frighten him nearly as much as he thought she might. Even if his fears of her being an oracle were true, he still wanted to accompany her and help her to the best of his abilities.

"It would be my Honor to escort you..."
He said with a smile, he took another couple steps towards her, but still remained at a safe distance in order to ensure her honor would remain intact. His smile was warm as he stood next to her. "If I may ask... What brought you so deep into the lower gardens?" he was curious, it was uncommon to see the oracles out so far from the inner sanctum. He realized she may not want to talk about it, or he may not want to know the truth so he quickly added "You don't have to tell me if you don't want too! I completely understand...." He would hate to offend her by asking that. He cursed himself internally, how could he ask such a thing of her? He would wait and see what she said before he opened his big mouth once more.

He was used to the area they were in as he usually took a guard route through the lower gardens and lower commons just to be sure that everything was calm and collected. He didn't mind the lower commons and gardens as much as some of higher station. He wasn't from the nobility sect but his status as a Knight Warrior gave him a higher status then he had previously held. His honor code and his discipline made sure that he would never become a disgrace to that station.

The mare pondered to herself about some things. It was strange to be with a horse of another station... She was more used to the other Oracles as she was blind they usually wanted to keep her near to keep an eye on her. But it wasn't really necessary. The more she was able to go around the kingdom the more used to the lay of the land and that would allow her to venture out on her own more easily. But that a beside the point right now. Now that she really came to think of it, she had never really spent time alone with a guard before... Not even as a foal. That suddenly made her feel nervous. Was it normal to have these many long paused in a conversation? He must have thought she was weird...

Eternity sighed some but then her ears gave a twitch as the stallion started to speak again. He wanted to know why she was there. She wasn't suppose to talk in any kind of detail about any prophecy but that did not mean she could not share that it was a prophecy that brought her out to this location. She used her ears to follow his voice and so she turned her head to follow him as he moved closer. She gave him the go ahead to lead the way and she fell into step at his side. She moved to close and her side bumped into him. She lowered her head in apology.

"Ah yes... I can tell you but I simply can't give you any details about it. " She glanced in his direction. "I was following a prophecy and it brought me down here. But like I said, I hadn't realized how far I had gone." The mare gave a small shrug as they walked. "But I am happy that you stumbled upon me. Without you I think it would have taken me much longer to make my way back."

She felt silent for a moment. Was it an awkward silence? She certainly felt awkward. She turned to face him and she focused. "Oh, you have always wanted to be a part of the guard have you not?" She could sense it in his aura. He wanted to protect the clan more than anything. It was interesting to see such resolve in a horse that was so young. Eternity did not have much of a choice in her destiny. However she did not have an issue against it, for it was all that she knew. Her tail gave a small flick as she continued to walk beside the stallion. She bumped into his side against his side again. It was helpful for guidance.
