Silhouette nosed awkwardly at cloth around his neck, attempting to adjust the new scrap of fabric that clung to him. He could feel the edges of the tabards brush against him every time he moved and could hear the chains gently clink against each other. He was unused to all the adornments and as a result, he could not help nudging self-consciously every now and again. He felt overdressed compared to the other members of the heard as only Isiyah was comparably adorned. Silhouette finally sighed, giving up on trying to get comfortable for now. He would get used to the feeling eventually, he presumed, and there were definitely things that required his attention more than vanity.
He snorted one of the feathers away from his face, giving his head a little toss before he surveyed the herd's grounds. Spring had come to the mountaintop with a vengeance, most of the snow and ice having melted away. Fresh, vibrant green grasses had already sprouted merrily in the small clearing with only small patched of snow still clinging in the shades of the trees that lined the outskirts. Silhouette could already see Avaru and Orion kicking the small piles of ice into the sun to melt away. Imperio was settled down against the small pond that formed in the clearing from the small creek that ran melted snow down into the valley from the mountaintops. He could see Emaera's small head above the water, her front hooves up into the grass as she talked merrily with Imperio. The small Seathi had only returned to the mountaintop pond a week prior, having spent most of the winter in the warm southern waters as was custom for her. Silhouette could tell that she had missed the herd though, her tail flicking back and forth and splashing water about in happiness every time someone walked by to talk with her.
He continued to let his eyes wander, looking for something to occupy himself with as he hated being idle. There was usually some sort of chore that needed to be done, especially at the beginning of spring each year. It took him a moment to realize that there was an extra body among the herd, a stranger idling near the edge of the clearing at the path that led down to the valley. He eyed the stranger cautiously, pressing his ears back against his head. He stepped slowly to the side, carefully putting himself between the stranger and his mother, who was chatting amiably with Cera a several feet away, unknowing of any change. He couldn't help but search out among the herd for his younger sister, finally relaxing slightly as he caught sight of her coat on the far edge of the clearing. They had never had trouble with any strangers, especially not so far up the mountain, but Silhouette was still wary for any potential threats to his family.
The stranger did not appear to be doing anything except hovering at entrance of the path, though, he noted. He took another sweeping look at the rest of the herd, seeing if this was perhaps someone's friend who had come up to visit, a rare occurrence given their distance from the more well-traveled valley at the base of the mountain. No one appeared to have notice another addition among themselves however, everyone busying themselves with their own tasks (or lazying about in Damascus' case, Silhouette thought to himself with a hint of disapproval).
Silhouette surpressed a sigh, making his decision. He carefully trotted up to the stranger, a dappled mare with a thick curly mane and tail and stopped a few feet away. He gave a polite dip of his head in greeting before speaking. "Hello. Can I help you with anything? Are you looking for someone?"
