Certain rituals are sacred for tiny fillies- perhaps not all fillies, as Damselfly could not see her sister Dragonfly partaking in such an important event (and, in fact, has never been able to even rope her into considering partaking), but to some like her and one of her cousins, the ritual must be treated with the utmost seriousness and respect.

The Tea Party.

The bedroom Damselfly shares with her sister is perfectly divided down the middle. On Dragon's side features features sky-blue walls with vinyl decals of dragons soaring across the imaginary sky. The usually messy bed has been made up by Damsel in preparation for this most auspicious event. Her toys have been tidied up against Dragon's wishes, to match Damsel's ever-tidy side of the room. The pegasus's side of the room is a creamy white, lace-like decals running across the top in sugar-pink.

The middle of her side of the room has been dominated by a small, round table, perfectly sized for fillies, covered in a crisp, white tablecloth. The tea set is freshly washed, the pretty porcelain painted with small, delicate flowers. For this very special occasion, Damselfly has been granted by her mother the use of the electric kettle, which was currently sitting on her desk. The pastries and finger sandwiches are at the ready, tray covered in a delicate glass dome.

Damselfly has everything precisely perfect with just a flick of the hoof to start up a classical record.

Now just for her cousin to arrive!

Regality was off to a tea party!

But not just any tea party. A tea party specifically for Princesses! And with her very own cousin Damselfly, who was quite a pretty Princess indeed. Not as pretty as Regality, or so she thought, but then that was the usual for the little unicorn filly. Damsel did have very lovely hair however, same luxurious length as her own and she had hoped the other would be into a bit of after tea mane brushing and styling!

Oh this was going to be so perfect!

She came prepared, dressed in her best gems and jewels. A glimmering necklace, shiny bracelets, and beads adorning her horn and bangs. Not too much yet not to little! She brought a small bedazzled saddle pack, inside was a sparkling silver hand mirror and her hair brush, plus a few extra little gem trinkets to share with her cousin until the party was over.

She knocked on the door delicately and was let inside where she made her way up to where she was told her cousin awaited. Dainty steps led her to the door way before stopping and glancing at the room, each side representing a filly. The gorgeous lace covered side, she obviously guessed, was Damsel's. "Damsel dear!" Regal called softly, beaming a bright smile as she trotted inside. "I do hope I haven't kept you waiting?" she asked, holding back a girlish squeal at the sight of the tea settings waiting.

"It's all so lovely!" she gave in and squeaked, doing a short little stampy dance before regaining her Princess like composure. Or what she thought was one.

"No no, you are perfectly on time, and I'm so glad you like it!" There was no helping the stampy-dance of excitement. Damsel, of course, joined in with her own excited energy before they both composed themselves again. She smoothed down her gauzy pink ballerina-princess skirt, and checked to make sure the glittery barrettes in her hair hadn't slipped out of place. After all, she'd put a lot of effort into making sure her shared room was completely clean and perfect, it wouldn't do to have messy hair to ruin it!

"Ahem, I shall prepare the water." Damselfly declared in her most regal of voices before pressing a button on the electric kettle. However, the act was almost immidately dropped, eyes snapping over to Regality in concern.

"Oh wait! Before we start-" she almost forgot the most important part of a princess tea party, "Over here." Damselfly hurried over to her neatly-made bed, her somewhat modest collection of tiaras laid out on the covers. She had all sorts of tiaras, from flowery ones to snowflake ones, in both gold and silver. So... perhaps not so modest of a collection.

"As my honored guest, my lady, you may pick first." She offered chivalrously with an over-dramatic bow.

Regality beamed as she was declared right on time and entered the room, setting her pack down gently and neatly against the wall out of harms way.

As Damsel declared she would prepare the water, Regal dipped her head softly in acknowledgement and surveyed the table once again. A place for everything and everything in its place! Oh she couldn't wait to get this Princess party started! They would have soooooo much Princess discussing to do!

But wait!

Regality's attention turned back to her cousin as she followed the pegasus filly over to the bed which was practically littered (in a good way!) in tiaras. Half shut gold eyes went wide and a gasp escaped Regal's lips. "Oh my goodness, they are all so gorgeous!" she squeaked softly, eyes running over every single one in turn. Being the honored quest with first choice... we'll she had to make sure to pick the best one! One that wouldn't clash with what she was already wearing. It was a tough choice, as Regal wanted to wear just about all of them, but she finally settled on a beautifully glimmering gold one and used her magic to set it upon her head.

"This one!" she giggled, striking a pose for the other Princess to admire. "I brought something for you to wear as well!" she smiled, making her way back to her saddle bag and carefully using her magic to pull out the assortment of trinkets she had brought for Damsel to use for such an occasion. Neatly she set some gem encrusted bangles, earrings and a matching necklace on the bed. "For you, M'lady!" the filly declared proudly.

With these, oh their Princess Partea was going to be perfect.

The jewelry was perfect. It was everything that was lovely and would look so nice with her hair colors- which was a feat, as they could be hard to coordinate around. A day in the life of Damselfly wouldn't be complete without having something make her eyes water up- not anything that her family should be worried over. Damselfly once saw a caterpillar so cute and perfect she started bawling over it, a little harmless water-glassy eyes and a few drops down the cheeks was hardly anything.

"Thank you," Damselfly breathed in a reverent voice, carefully putting the pieces on before selecting a flowery tiara to match the silk flowers on her skirt. She snuffed and scrubbed at her eyes, little face twisting in determination to stop crying already, which made her over-princessly bow look that much funnier.

A cushion in front of the table was pulled out for Regality as much as Damselfly could, considering it was hardly a proper chair, but the pretending it where it counted. Fetching the electric kettle quickly like it wasn't really her having to do it, carefully pouring it into the pretty porcelain one to steep with the leaves.

"We'll be having Earl Grey with the sandwiches, and then switch to anything you like for afterwards." Damselfly hummed, carefully perching on her own cushion, the skirt of her fluffy dress fanned around her.

Again, thank you for being willing to resurrect this one!

Beaming, Regality watched as the filly put on the trinkets she had brought over, pressing her hooves together delighted. "Marvelous, simply marvelous!" she exclaimed in a soft breathy voice as she yet again admired the other filly's wardrobe. She would definitely have to take notes.

It was then she noticed the other was crying and Regality briefly wondered if she had said or done something wrong. But then she realized that they were tears of happiness and perfection and she flashed a wide smile. She didn't often cry herself over things like this but it was a statement she could sympathize with. "No, thank you!" she nodded, waiting patiently as the other pulled over a cushion.

In her mind, Regality sank into a regal throne fit for a Queen when she sat upon the cushion. She kept her head high and her eyes half shut (her imagined vision of royalty). "Delightful choices!" she nodded, gently reaching out for her cup. As she brought it back she accidentally clinked it against her plate. Her eyes went wide for a moment, checking to see if Damsel had noticed. Quickly she tried to play it off as if it hadn't happened.

The music playing in the background wasn't so loud that the distasteful clack of china on china went beyond Damselfly's notice, but in her mind a Queenly response would be to pretend not to notice, for the comfort of her guest. What kind of hostess would make her dearest company and kin uncomfortable? So they would both perfectly pretend that hadn't happened, and hopefully perhaps the part where Damselfly almost dropped one of the finger foods as she set to serving them. Damselfly really wasn't doing herself any favors by giggling over it. It was all just so fun.

"The, em, education board has already picked out games for the, um, the upcoming frilly festivities, it seems," which, of course, was Damselfly trying to think of a fancy way to talk about 'Miss Morning Glory's rules for Valentines', as the holiday was fast approaching. A very good holiday, in Damselfly's mind, though to be truthful she was generally very excited over every holiday. This one was better because it involved lace, pink, and chocolates, which were really some of the better things in life.

Ah she hadn't noticed!

Or at the very least, being much appreciated in not noticing. So Regality returned the favor by not noticing Damsel drop a finger food as she went to serve them. They were princesses after all!

Of course, the other filly's giggles were a bit contagious and Regality found herself doing her best to hide a grin that tickled the corner of her mouth. It wasn't working quite as well as she hoped. But the topic change was much welcome and the unicorn filly bounced into it with enthusiasm!

"Indeed, I can't wait to hear their results! I trust them all to be at their wits and picked acceptable festivities that don't require...um...un lady like conduct." she nodded her head, trying to use all the fancy words she had stored for just such an opportunity. "And of course, the stallions have...ah...brushed up on how to treat a princess!" she added, losing herself in a bit of a daydream of a handsome stud sweeping her off her hooves. Another giggle threatened her features and she tried to hide it by taking a sip of her Earl Grey...a rather wobbly sip with some stifled laughing behind it.
