It was strange. Knowing you had only come into existence as of recent - having no memory prior to anything only a few suns ago. In that time he had gotten know his new friends Kintori and Kipenzi quite intimately. They were great girls, they were. Kintori was lovely despite her constant frown, and Kipenzi was, well, Kipenzi. The stallion smiled thinking of the two - they grounded him. Represented a sort of "home."

But "home" was getting a little boring. As it turns out, Nefertem had a bit of a wild heart deep within his chest. As great as those two mares were, they weren't really doing it for him. His eyes needed something a bit more to gaze at. Right now, that "bit more" was the beginnings of a rather beautiful sunset. A soft smile settled over his lips, gazing out at the sky from what felt like the edge of the world. This, right here, was his absolute favorite time of day. It was no coincidence, he was sure, that his coat reflected that. Some things were simply too uncanny to chalk up to coincidence.

This evening, Nefertem was quite a bit away from the home he had made with the two mares. Kipenzi was full up pregnant, struggling to get up without Kintori's help. They claimed it was all right for him to wander off and explore the deeper depths of the lands, and he took up the offer right away. But just then, he was starting to miss having a companion by his side. And unfortunately, it didn't seem there was anyone around to share this beautiful sunset with. Could this day get any worse?

Eury fluttered down, her wings spread in soft, slow beats as she set herself down on the ridge. Her hooves handed on the ground silently, cushioned by the long dead and dried grass that covered the small hill, withered from the cold winter. She gave her head a quick toss once she landed, letting the curls sweep away from her eyes and land attractively around her shoulder. She gave her wings a final stretch before folded them gently back, tucking them close to her body. She spared a moment to turn her ahead and inspect them, making sure not a feather was out of place, before she turned.

A true smiled graced her lips as she noticed the sunset, admiring the array of colors that reflected in the winter sky. Her favorites were the reds and orange, the tinges of yellows and pinks, that reflected off the spattering of clouds. It had been so long since she had a chance to be alone and away from the rest of the tittering herd. She sighed, happy, as she continued to watch the sun sink slowly lower and lower in the horizon.

Nefertem's ears flicked, an involuntary swiveling to his left. A gentle rhythm hit, before it disappeared as quickly as it came. Turning his head, the stallion noticed a stunning monochromatic creature. The mare was tucking in perfectly neat wings, tossing her head just so to allow the tendrils of her mane to fall back into place. Nef glanced back out to the sunset, tilting his head up, squinting. The gods really did answer. How curious.

Figuring he was essentially obligated to speak to her now that she was here. Turning tail, he walked along the edge of the toward the female. His mind mulled over something to say as he approached her, his steps quiet compared to his rather large body. "Watching the sunset?" Nef called, steps slowing to a glide as he got closer. "Wouldn't glancing in a reflective pool be much more pleasing?" He smiled, bowing his head slightly before joining her in gazing at the sunset. If she enjoyed these colors so much, it was no doubt he already had an in.

Eury resisted jumping at the sound of another voice, not expecting someone to have been nearby. She had given the area a cursory scout before landing, but she had been admitted distracted with wanting to catch the sunset before it was too late. She turned her head however, her body still facing forward as she looked over her shoulder to see who had interrupted.

She gave a little smile at the sight of the stallion, glad she had taken the time to make sure her coat and mane were impeccably as always before she had left the herd on her little adventure. She blinked deliberately slow before as she gave him an exaggerated once over. The warm orange and pinks of the sunset were mirrored perfectly in the stranger’s coat, and she hummed almost contemplatively as she took in the small feathered wings that decorated his hind legs.

She smiled again before she met his eyes and offered another coy, teasing smile. “The sunset? Why yes, I was,” she answered, pitching her voice soft and low, before turning her head back looking back at the horizon. “And yes, it would be.”
