Callista was a modest, noble bird. She had needs, of course. Any noble bird did. But she had less than others would have. The Quiet Woods here in the warm southern part of the Isle had proven to be a satisfactory home for her thus far. It had been a bit quieter when she first arrived, in truth. For a time, a sort of darkness seemed to lurk just at the forest edges, though that feeling had been receding as of late. Nothing a capable lady like herself couldn't handle, of course, but the returning peace was still welcomed.

Clearly, her endurance and poise was what earned her such a lovely reward. She wouldn't forget the fortunate day she'd found her treasure. A chance shine at the edge of her vision had prompted her to dive to the forest floor and kick away the dirty leaves that hid her treasure. A coin of some sort, though dulled, shone again with a bit of polishing. What fortune! She was unwilling to remove her scarf, which protected her from any rogue chill winds. However, with a bit of creative work, she managed to get some string to loop around and criss-cross to allow the coin to dangle like a pendant. She then wore it beneath her scarf. No one else needed to see her treasure, but she knew it was there and always close.

Her scarf kept her warm, but she hadn't expected her shiny coin to do the same! At first, it was pleasantly warm against her downy feathers and she had cooed happily at the sensation. As it grew warmer and warmer, however, concern turned to alarm and she eventually was forced to remove the coin with an angry screech.

No, no, a lady doesn't lose her temper. No one heard that.

She fixed the coin with a disapproving glare. Naughty treasure! Misbehaving like that! Surely something so fine should know better! She huffed, but her eyes widened again when the coin began to smoke. Smoke? What? From the billowing smoke, a trio of eyes blinked at her from the darkness...without warning...a strike!

She felt the pain; didn't look at the wound, but instantly flared her wings with an angry screech. How dare something attack her!?! She would show whatever it was that it had made a dire mistake.

The smoke began to swirl and form slowly at first. If the summoner had paid attention she would have seen it come together to form an almost recognizable shape. First, the eyes. Three of them, as brilliant and golden as the sun blinked from the shadows. Then... claws, unseen, striking out at the summoner, causing bright red scratch marks to form upon the shadows. Three golden eyes continued to glare down the being that had summoned them. The clawed hand that darted out to make the strike began to glow brighter and brighter until the smoke began to shed away from the pae'il shaped figure. Much like a snake shedding its skin.

When the last of the smoke had faded a way, what was left standing was a tall, furry feline like Pae'il. Her hair was as wild as its colors that stood out against her calico patterned body. Her tail swished slowly behind her. Golden accessories glittered in the light. Beads clinked against her wrist as she reached out and grabbed the summoner's burned hand, pressing it to the claw marks on her own body. 'You....summoned me...?" she spoke in a high pitched tone with slight hints of a purr.

It was then the Fem fully took in the being that stood before her.

Feathers.....lots...and lots of blue feathers. Wide spread wings...taloned feet....hands... screeching. A silly red scarf with little tree's stitched into the ends. Even more FEATHERS. She had been summoned by a...a.... "A BIRD?!" the cat hissed, taking a step back. Growling, her tail sliced through the air behind her like a blade, her golden eyes narrowed, ears flat against her head. Instinctively she brought her hands up, claws out, ready to strike....but stopped. She was bonded to her. She couldn't hurt the bird without hurting herself in the process.

Another furious hiss escaped her lips at the thought as the feline curled her hands into tight fists. She shoved her arms down, as straight as she could, stood on her very tip toes and leaned forward slightly. Clearly very....very pissed.

"I was summoned... BY MY DINNER!??!!"

Still ready for a fight, Callista hissed as her hand was grabbed and pulled forwards. She was a proud, noble warrior, and she would defend herself to--

She had frozen as the smoke revealed the mystery before her. Bright, shiny baubles glittered in the light. A trio of glowing eyes stared back at her unblinkingly. Her hand twitched, feeling the soft fur beneath her fingers. She noted the long, fluffy tail whipping behind the creature as she leapt backwards and took on the defensive stance. Callista's expression changed as well, shifting from rage, to confusion, to interest in this sight before her.

With some distance between them now, she noted the pointed ears as well as as the extra fluffy feet ending in paws. She didn't see to notice the aggressive tone the other had taken, instead focusing entirely on her appearance. Callista's eyes lost their hard glare, becoming something more like warm chocolate with a faint sparkle of glee.

"Oh, aren't you just the most adorable, precious little kitty!" she cooed.

The words from the dinners mouth made Na'las cringe in pain and and even more anger. What was worse was the bird didn't even seem intimidated or scared. She seemed more.....amused than anything. And Na'las STILL COULDN'T HURT HER! "What kind of trick is this?!" the cat spat again, a growl bubbling up in the pit of her throat. The longer dinner kept looking at her like that the more it slowly began to drive up her rage. "Stop looking at me like that! With those eyes!" she hissed, slicing the air in front of her in 'warning.'

"I am anything BUT adorable! Do you understand me?" the cat growled, pushing her luck. In the back of her mind a small voice laughed. Taunted her.

Chheaaah right, like she's going to listen to you furball!'

Rubbing her head in frustration, the cat began to pace back and forth, casting occasional glances back at dinner. Piercing dagger looks that also begged the answer to the questions that battered her poor, confused mind. "Nnnnnngaaah!" she groaned outwardly, stopping in place and crossing her arms over her chest like a toddler about to have a tantrum. "This has to be a joke. What even.....how....why? Why me?!" she sighed, growled, hissed all at the same time. Her hands shot up to her face and mashed themselves into her cheeks before slowly sliding downwards and dangling at her sides in defeat.

She was summoned by her dinner.

She had to obey her food.

Callista stifled a giggle at the feline's subsequent temper tantrum. Daww, kitty-kitty was having a fit! Poor thing seemed pretty confused by all this. Perhaps it was understandable.

Honestly, Callista was likely equally confused, however, she was taking a far different stance on the situation. Disappointment at losing her shiny treasure had been dwarfed and shoved aside by this new discovery. She wasn't exactly clear on everything that was being said yet, but she'd figure it out eventually. Right now, she was having a hard enough time resisting the urge to reach out an pat the poor distressed kitty on the head. Or attempt to stroke her fluffy tail tuft. It looked so soft though...

The initial shock had started to wear off, even if she was still unclear on what was happening, and it was time to start behaving more rationally. Such behavior was not fitting for any proper lady. Or uh...cat. "Now, now," she crooned, waving a hand dismissively. "I don't know about any trick or joke, missy. Not my fault you decided to pop out of my precious coin with all that smoke and drama. Speaking of which, maybe you should calm down," she said with a lilt of an eyebrow that indicated it was more than just a suggestion. Goodness, some dears just didn't know how to behave. Hmm...could she be feral? She's speaking though, even if she's not making much sense, so perhaps not. Only time will tell.

Shelving those thoughts for now, she aimed a smile at the kitty cat. She'd noted that despite the other's initial hostility and tendency towards violence, she had yet to actually attempt to strike at her again. Wait... The burning pain was only a ghost of a memory now as Callista glanced down at her side in wonder. Not a scratch on her. Yet, the feline showed glowing red claw marks on herself in the same spot that Callista had felt the strike hit herself. What odd magic was this? The cat struck her, yet she took the injury onto herself? Did that mean...she couldn't hurt her? For whatever reason? Well, that explained why she hadn't tried to strike her again.

Callista was a clever bird, despite her outward demeanor at times. A lady never bragged, after all. And sometimes, it was best to keep some secrets to one's self. Just in case.

"Dear, there's nothing wrong with being adorable, I'll have you know."
