[BATT] Good Knight for a Fight (Zeffer vs Keionx)

Zeffer smoothed his mohawk back as he strode into the sparring clearing, trying to tap away some of the mud on his boots. He'd just finished a patrol and was ready to participate in a much more interesting activity. Keionx had requested to spar with him, and she was another rebel who he didn't know very well, and wanted to become better acquainted with. The only thing he knew was that she was a more practiced fighter than some; she had her shield, and sword, and had mentioned training at one of the meetings.

It would be fun to see how capable she was, and whether or not he could let loose more than he usually did. He leaned against a tree as he waited for her to arrive, and bit back a little yawn.

Keionx had finished her early evening exercises, stretches, and runs and felt very ready to tackle the night, whatever it might bring. In this case, however, she knew something of what it would bring her. She hoped that the spar against the blueblood adult would be a good, meaty spar... hopefully she'd learn a little from it.

She walked to the appointed spot. ”Good evening.” she said. This was a spar, so she didn't need to fear for her life (Though that wasn't, typically, the first thing on her mind). But she didn't know how he would open the fight. Would he let her begin it, as the younger of the two? Would he wait for them both to take their place in the arena before starting it? Would he start right out of the gate from his tree over there?

Either way, Keionx was excited to find out. ”Nice weather tonight, aye?”

"Hey, Kei." Zeffer grinned at his intentional rhyme, kicking away from his perch and nodding to the orangeblood. They probably weren't close enough to be able to share nicknames yet, but he'd never been one for boundaries. He strode around the makeshift arena until he was standing opposite to her, giving his batons a spin as he sized her up.

"Sure is." He lied, and smirked, showing more teeth than necessary. He would have loved for it to be storming, but Akko had made the brilliant observation that no one in their right mind would want to go out and spar when it was raining.

"Better take advantage while we can. Come at me, when you're ready, and we'll go from there." The blueblood spread his arms, issuing his challenge. For the first batch of fights, he wasn't going to do anything drastic, while he got to know the rebels he was unacquainted with better.

Kei found it interesting that he used a nickname when he barely knew her, but informality seemed to be a thing with him, from what she'd observed of him so far.

Ah. The answer to her question. She drew her sword and worked her shield onto her arm, sizing him up. Batons... and she'd heard a rumor that he had powers? Hmm... She rolled her shoulders thoughtfully. ”Very well then.” she said, charging in suddenly, sword ready to strike.

It wasn't much conversation wise, but she wasn't really one to talk too much in a spar. Afterwards, though... definitely after.

He watched as she drew her sword, eyes sparkling mischievously at the sound it made. He began to circle around, the electricity beginning to dance across his limbs as he revved himself up, flexing and growling at the tingling sensation it caused.

"Do you think you could chop me in half with that thing??" He LAUGHED as she came at him, hissing at the strike she managed to land; it was a scratch, more or less, but he was distantly startled to have his blood spilled so quickly.

With that, he retaliated, parrying the sword and jabbing her hard in the stomach with a loud BZZT.

”Perhaps!” she bantered back, though she certainly didn't intend to cause the blueblood any permanent harm. This was a fun spar, not a life or death fight... though admittedly with trolls there was a thin line between the two.

She was pleased that her first strike hit, even if it wasn't by much, but her good feelings were quickly wiped away by a sudden jab and ZAP. ”Yaugh!” She backed away, shocked (pun intended) and shaking a little. She coughed as he body resumed precise control of itself, missing as her strike went wide in the process.

Damn She calmed herself, watching Zeffer warily. She would have to be extra careful.

Zeffer laughed, and followed her miss with another little swat, lighter than the last. She had a means of defense, but he was beginning to think he was a bit nimbler than she was. It would be interesting to see the control she had with her sword - if she could get riled and continue to use it in a non-lethal fashion.

"Gonna have to be quicker than that." Zeffer taunted, stepping back before beginning to circle her, seeking out his next opening as he waited for her to lunge again.

Clearly, she was somewhat outmatched. The difference in size nonwithstanding, he was faster than her and... Ow... Good with those batons. If she wanted to do anything at all, clearly she would have to use her shield.

Though, she probably should have actually used it the way it was intended. In all fairness, shield bashing was a good use for a shield, but not exactly for one designed to take hits, not deliver hits. She made up for her shield charge with a follow up with her sword, using her momentum to carry her back out of range of his batons. Out of simple jab range, that is - he was fast.

"Quick enough?" she asked wryly.
