Welcome to the Kalos Friend Safari! At the Friend Safari we have begun to hold capture contests! As the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! The contest is simple, in the Friend Safari you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!

Also, the Pokemon available is always different as there are several different areas to the Friend Safari! The zone we'll be hunting in this time is the Damp Cavern zone, a deep, dark, and damp cavern filled with all sorts of fierce creatures.

How to Participate:

The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 100. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.

Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.

----------

[Safari Ball] 40% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Pokeball] 40% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Great Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Ultra Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.

[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.

[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.

[Repeat Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you encountered the Pokemon in your previous post, 50% if not.

[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.

[Fast Ball] 70% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.

[Heavy Ball] 70% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.

[Level Ball] 70% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Whismur, Geodude, etc.), 50% on all others.

[Love Ball] 70% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.

[Lure Ball] 70% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.

[Friend Ball] 70% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

----------

As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.

When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Whismur won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Goomy would give much more. However, with quality, a Whismur could beat out a Goomy.

Contestant Prizes:

Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants. The top three are allowed to either keep the Pokemon they caught, or take a prize of Snag Coins. The first place contestant may keep both the Pokemon and take the Snag Coins, if he/she so chooses to do so. Note, that the Pokemon still counts towards your rank limit.

1st place prize: 10 Snag Coins or 1 Snag Emblem.

2nd place prize: 8 Snag Coins.

3rd place prize: 6 Snag Coins.

All participants who did not place receive 3 Snag Coins as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon.

Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. Posts that are incredibly short (Noibat used Thundershock and knocked out the Magikarp.) won't be counted. But that doesn't mean they all have to be novels, just put in some effort. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way. Don't worry, the Safari Zone is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here!

And that's it! Get out there and have fun!

Sub and Poe had arrived on the scene, he had heard Scraggy could be found here and he couldn't pass up a chance to add a new Dark type to his collection. He really didn't want to bring the Sableye with him but he figured he would be his best best for such an environment, he just hoped he didn't run off to find gems to munch on.

As soon as the pair entered the cavern they were greeted by a rather pleasant Durant as it looked up at the pair and hissed, the tin ant apparently did not like to be disturbed on its way back to its nest.

"Hello to you too." Sub said as the Durant rushed them. "Poe, Shadow Ball." The man ordered. With a sneer the imp would conjure up a ball of shadows and send it flying into the ant's face. Said Durant tried to bite the ball with its mandibles but did little more than make th ball explode in its face, causing the ant to shriek and scurry away. Mission accomplished?

With that ferocious ant taken care of the pair continued their journey into the cave. It wasn't long before they encountered another Pokemon, a pretty rare one at that. Sub eyed the strange creature called Goomy, he had seen one before, but this was the first time he had seen one that wasn't trying to kill him. It seemed to be dissolving fleshy insides of a Durant that from what he could tell died a natural death, the Goomy having gotten lucky on this meal.

The man didn't plan on disturbing this tiny creature and its dinner so he kept moving along.

Out of nowhere the pair would get jumped by a tiny little Dragon as it launched its self off of a large rock and came down on the duo head first, luckily Sub saw it coming before it made contact. "Poe, Zen Headbutt!" The man commanded.

Poe would leap off the ground to meet the baby dragon head first in mid air, the two creatures clashing with their heads. Unfortunately the tiny dragon didn't stand a chance using Headbutt against a Ghost type and so Poe was able to smack it away with his own head with easy, sending the Bagon flying out of sight. "I almost feel bad for it..." Sub said with a shrug as he began to walk away.

Deciding to try and keep her mind off of recent events, Amaranth took a moment to go to and explore the Damp Cavern. It didn't seem like the kind of place one would go to for a good time, but it got her out of the HQ for a bit, so it seemed like a worthwhile tradeoff to her.

A Magby would be noticed in the distance shortly after she entered, appearing to mind its own business thankfully. Figuring it was best to just leave it be, Amaranth decided to start going deeper into the cave.

Dan entered the safari, a glint in his eye as he smirked. If there were Axew to be found here, he was definitely going to snag one! Well, not in the sense of stealing, just catching... Anyway, he head in further, deciding to bring his Shelgon along for assistance.

Their first encounter was with a Paras who bravely scuttled up to them. It looked pretty pissed off as it charged them with a raised claw. "Shelgon, Ember" Dan instructed, the sparks of fire stopping the insect in its tracks. It looked at the dragon in shock before trying to recover lost health but was again stopped by Ember. With the bug down, the duo continued on their way.

As they jumped over a small pit in the ground Sub spotted a tiny Nidoran huddled up and shaking. It looked like it was no more than a few weeks old which meant that 'pit' as actually a nest which meant momma was nearby somewhere. Sub was not going to be around when she came back, that was for sure and so the Dark One decided to pick up the pace, leaving Poe in his dust.

It'd feel like no time had passed at all before Amaranth found herself at the edge of what appeared to be a small pool of water, a natural result of just how damp the cave could get. If anything, perhaps too damp, feeling more like it was beginning to rain. The fact that this was happening inside a cave was baffling to her, until she felt a sudden push against one of her feet. She'd move it just in time to notice a purplish goop and hear the sound of something squelching and sliding along the ground, looking down to finally see what the apparent source of it was. It wasn't something she could recall seeing before, but it didn't look like the kind of thing to disturb either. She was ready to turn and walk away when the weird goopy thing decided to turn as well.

"Goooom?"

She was even more baffled that it decided to greet her, as if people coming into the cave was a common occurrence. Or maybe it was used to people for one reason or another. She backed up a step out of shock, prompting the Goomy to do similar and give a dejected look as it melted into the ground slightly. Was it actually upset at her actions? Either way, it made things all the more awkward. Amaranth was more used to being attacked or somehow inciting a wild Pokemon's wrath than anything like this, and she wasn't sure if she should ask why it was acting like this for fear of that very thing happening.

Instead, she offered a small apology to the Goomy and went on her way. This worked for a while until she had to stop and rest, sitting on the ground for a moment and inadvertently giving the Pokemon enough time to catch up to her, offering its greeting again and looking up. Its eyes, solid as they looked, had an oddly hopeful glimmer to them that perhaps the person it followed had come around.

What it got instead was Amaranth scooting away, trying to figure out why this Pokemon was acting like a lost puppy. Maybe someone had released it in the past or something, but she had no way of telling unless she spoke up to it. Maybe it wanted her to go ahead and catch it, dreaming of a day outside of the cave. It seemed hopeful when he saw her take out a single ball, only to resume its dejected look when it was opened up to reveal a Woobat.

Surprisingly, though, an attack wasn't ordered as Amaranth stood up. "See what it's wanting, but be careful," she spoke up, wanting to keep her distance in case her boots wouldn't be the only thing covered in goop by the end of this. She wasn't interested in a battle if it wasn't needed, so she hoped this would be a fruitful endeavor, confused look from Woobat or not.

Still, the odd looking bat hovered over to the Goomy and moved down to its eye level before deciding to speak. The Goomy did seem friendly enough for what it was worth, striking up a conservation pretty quickly and the two chatting for a little while despite them having a hint of apprehension that one of them would attack the other at some point.

But through the conservation came a few revelations as Amaranth listened in on them. From what she could hear, the Goomy was both used to people and spending most of its life in the cave. The first thing it could remember seeing was the face of... someone, before being unceremoniously dropped off inside the cave with whatever pieces of an egg shell remained. How it wasn't hostile off the bat or now was nothing short of a miracle, if not a testament to the Goomy's hopes that it'd see that person again. As far as it was concerned, maybe they'd come back for it.

Suffice to say, Amaranth and her Woobat didn't have the heart to tell it that whoever it saw probably had no intentions of coming back. If anything, it made her want to consider catching it anyway, so she pulled out a Dusk Ball and prepared to throw it. At least, that was the intent before Goomy suddenly decided to "hug" Woobat the only way it knew how, startling the bat and making her unleash a Confusion attack to repel it before squeaking loudly in discontent.

While Goomy didn't seem too bothered by it, it figured this meant a call to arms and struck back with a sudden exhale of Dragon Breath in retaliation. Though Woobat would shake off the attack without too much trouble, she was having more trouble moving around from Goomy's earlier attempt at a hug and her wings being gooped up as a result.

Seeing this, Goomy stopped its assault as quickly as it had started, moving closer and trying to apologize. By now, though, Woobat wasn't having much of it, letting off another Confusion to keep Goomy at bay as well as she could. This kept up each time it tried to get close, taking hit after hit and refusing to back down. Even as Goomy was weakened, moving slower and slower each time and giving pained cries, it was determined to apologize for startling her. As the broken record continued to repeat the same scene, something different would finally happen as the Goomy tensed up and a shield of chi surrounded it. The Confusion would still hit, but the sudden Protect meant it'd do little to stop it this time.

By now, even Woobat was exhausted from trying so hard to keep the wild Pokemon away, surprised when Goomy simply stopped, offered its apologies, and turned to go back into the depths. It wouldn't get very far before Amaranth recalled her Woobat and spoke up, causing it to stop in its tracks.

"Sorry. You... can come. Just no hugs," she said, tossing the Dusk Ball still in her hands before Goomy had a chance to either escape or try and hug her out of sheer joy. Maybe not so much joy about the ball coming for it, though...

Despite not being so crazy about the ball coming, Goomy didn't appear to fight it, letting itself be caught without much hassle at all. The whole series of events was still weird to Amaranth, slowly walking over to collect the ball before resuming her exploration. She doubted she'd let the Goomy go so easily lest she crushes the poor thing's hopes and dreams, but it felt like a waste to spend such a small amount of time in here.

Ryan arrives at the Safari Location. His ability to sense water sources was going to do him no good in here. With so many natural water sources along with the pokemon was making things one big blur. As he stood there, he could here the croaking of frogs. There was a frog here? And now he had to step inside.

As Ryan began his journey into the cavern, he would call out Ursula, his Remoraid. He catches her and starts the hunt, holding her like a rifle.
