Clear as Day is no social butterfly, in fact social activities with her species were often confusing, so many abstract conventions and rules… so constricting. And for no tangible reason that she could tell? Very strange she thought, other species were much more in line with the natural flow of energies in the swamp. Still…
Her unseeing eyes fell towards the bonfire, physically seeing nothing, but in her mind’s eye she saw the energy radiating, twisting, curling, smouldering. It was true, she had to admit, that it was an amazing sight only possible because of the aforementioned social structures and conventions.
Salamanders were beautiful, unique creatures… she considered, perhaps, she might entice one into her care. A symbol of the beginning of life, beside her other companion, the cave worm: Epitome. A symbol of the transferral of energy, of death.
She watched the other kin bring the creatures wood to keep the fire steadily crackling, they delighted in the fuel to their flames, hm…

Clear as Day hadn't wondered far before she lost concentration, a flock of song birds had flown over head, their little bodies buzzing and turning with streaks of energy against the gentle glow of the sky. The sun was the greatest source of energy, and so it created a gradient like glow across everything.
Suddenly, in her distracted daze, she was tripping over a sizable leafy branch. Right, the salamanders. She seized the tinder-to-be into her mouth, gripping hard with her teeth. It was still a little difficult to carry, all on her own, being a fine boned zikwa like herself. Luckily, Epitome was in a helpful mood, and crawled under one end's side to raise it up.
"Thank you, my friend." She spoke quietly to the cave worm.
The salamanders were pleased, and their excitement surged into her and became her own, eagerly she went in search for more suitable fire fuel.

Back on the look out for wood or anything she might please the fiery salamanders with, Clear as Day finds herself unusually focused, driven even!
"Oh."
...until she finds herself knee deep in swamp waters after her attention had shifted to a family of otters, the elders dipping up and down, attempting to teach the youngins to hunt, or fish. Clarity wasn't entirely sure which was the better term. They were a little too young however, and were more interested in playing than anything else. A caiman lurked near however, and most certainly would devour at least one, their were too many for the parents to keeps an eye on. The thought didn't faze her, it was the way of life to change and be changed.
All she sees around her are damp and waterlogged logs, nothing that could be useful to her in pleasing the salamanders. She turned and begin to trudge out of the water. A moment later and there is a sudden then stifled yelp behind her and in her mind's eye she watched the cycle of live in action.

Upon further exploration, Clarity happened upon another grand leafy branch, just two big for her to carry completely on her own like the last but this time Epitome was way ahead of her, crawling under one side before she could even clench her teeth around the other end and they were off.
Curious, the doe mused to herself, the cave worm was usually so self involved, scavenging for decaying bodies left to the swamp and picking them clean. It was a rare time that Epitome even acknowledged her, let alone was so eager to assist her.

After dropping the last leafy branch they were off again, this time Epitome strode forward in front of it's zikwa companion. Clarity meandered along behind her, now more interested in her currently sole companion than the salamanders she'd been eyeing.
They came across a huge log, too big for even the two of them she was sure, the cave worm tried anyway, attempting to burrow under and lift, but to no avail. Clarity watched.
"Friend, why are you so driven?"
