She coughs out the smoke from a soot monster that passes by her window, and closes it quickly before it fills her room with the smell.
Selene is an early riser in order to have more time to get work done. The morning is spent toasting and buttering bread with biscuits and jam, and tea, oh! Oh, the tea! So warm and mellow, just the way she likes it. She takes long, slow sips, and watches the pumpkin sun finally creep up into the sky in absolute silence.
It's a perfect morning.
Then it's off to grade papers, and write up new class ideas. She's in her office for hours, flipping through her vast library while researching a new subject. Today's find is Magical Girl Transformations - and how interesting it was indeed! A little too showy for her tastes, and oh, those dresses were far too short, but at least they had style!
Lunchtime consists of a variety of baking, and each day it's a different little sandwich or pastry. She places it all in a little basket, along with a few herbs for the scent and a dead rose for the sentiment. Then she inches over to Argyle's office, and leaves the basket at the foot of his door. He'll find it when he's hungry, she tells herself. He always does!
The rest of the day is much like the first, with more research, more planning, and if the time is right, a class. But no class today - today is all hers, and she spends it wisely. Around 4pm, it's time for a break from all that tiresome but thrilling research - and what does she do to take her mind off of it? Why, reading of course! Selene spends an hour or two under a falling tree, reading a romance novel with the book cover of a physics textbook over it; students don't need to know about her little hobby.
Finally, the day ends when Argyle is done with his work, picking her up from her reading spot to leave for dinner. What a busy day it was, but so fulfilling! She can't wait until tomorrow!
