Hamadryads are born bonded to a certain tree. Some believe that hamadryads are the actual tree, while normal dryads are simply the entities, or spirits, of the trees. If the tree died, the hamadryad associated with it died as well. For that reason, dryads and the gods punished any mortals who harmed trees.

Natural Ability || Strangle
Hamadryads take on the natural form of their tree. Considering she is based off of the Strangler fig, she is able to adapt her hands to vine-like appendages, which can wrap around sturdy objects and assist with her movement. The longer she channels this ability, the farther she is able to wrap (but this takes a painfully long time).

Natural Form ||
There really isn't a huge change when Nerisei takes off her pin. The only big difference is an increase in vines over her body. Her legs turn into what looks like actual roots, and the vines wrap around her body like a Strangler Fig would wrap around a tree. It is much more dense on her lower half, but a few smaller ones climb up to her cheeks and even to her hair. This is the image for inspiration.

FEAR Ability || Overgrow (Swift Strikes)
Nerisei digs her hands into the ground, using her Fear to extend her vines through the earth to strike out at her enemy in a series of vine whips from below.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? ||
Nerisei has just recently come of age among the Hamadryad. As a result, she is nearly ready to travel to the human world and begin guardianship over the trees of the world. In order for her to fully prepare, she needs to attend schooling at Amityville in order to better control her FEAR and manage herself in the human world.

Once she completes her schooling, she will be ready to fulfill her duty as a Hamadryad.

History ||
Legend has it that when a tree is born, so is a Dryad.

This Dryad is special, above and beyond the spirits of the trees. Known as a Hamadryad, they are the soul of a very specific tree, and if that tree dies, so will the hamadryad.

Because of this very special relationship, the Hamadryads have grown to become the protectors of the wood. They are strong, they are dedicated, and they are willing to do anything to protect the trees.

Nerisei Oreithyia was a special kind of Hamadryad. Born to be connected with a strangling fig, it is believed that her family are decedents of Syke, one of the original eight Hamadryads. Because of this, their grotto is deep in the forest, where a giant fig tree rests. The tree is covered in dozens of strangler fig vines, each one the life force of a member of Nerisei's family.

Nerisei has spent quite a bit of time in the grotto, as Hamadryads grow at the pace of their tree. The first responsibility of any Hamadryad is to cultivate the grotto and surrounding forest, and Nerisei grew up learning the best skills to keep a plant alive. Now that she is about to reach maturity (and the ability to leave to the human world) she is tasked to attend Amityville Academy.

This is the first time she has ever left the safety of the grotto, and of her soul plant. The grotto is protected, but Nerisei is going into the unknown with little guidance except to strengthen herself. It is the first major challenge and test to prove she is ready to head to the human world and protect the trees of the land.

PERSONALITY

Confident ||
Hands down, Nerisei is confident in who she is. There is no question that she has an aspiration and a path to get there. She has minimal doubts, and is able to focus on the end goal. This also is pushed through in terms of her confidence of her accomplishments - she isn't afraid to boast or hold certainty in her actions. Her confidence spills over into other traits as well, including her sensuality with her body and her vindictiveness in her willingness to hold a grudge.

Compassionate ||
Nerisei is compassionate to nature and the world around her. She was raised to defend the trees, and she will go out of her way if she sees any plant life that appears to be hurt or hindered. It can often be distracting, but she doesn't mind as it is her aspiration in life. This, occasionally, will transfer to others. In fact, the more plant-like an individual is, the more compassionate and caring Nerisei will be toward that person.

Nonchalant ||
If one looks at Nerisei, they would evaluate her as relaxed, calm, and really not caring of what goes on around her. In her natural state she really is quite nonchalant, content to sit back and let others take the spotlight. This is by no means a lack of confidence, but more a trait of not seeing a need to get anywhere or do anything excessive. This is reflected in her posture, which is often lounged, and her voice, which is often slow, soft, and steady.

Sensual ||
Nerisei's confidence does revolve a bit around her appearance. She mainly expresses this in touch - she loves to connect with others by touching their back, shoulder, or arm. She also is not afraid of showing off her body, and can't help but feel that others appreciate what she has to offer. It's a surprise she wasn't a lust demon, because if she really wont hesitate to try and seduce to get to where she needs to be. The one thing is that Nerisei will never take it too far. At this point, it is a lot of flirting more than anything, and will stop once she accomplishes her goal.

Explosive ||
Nerisei has little control over her emotions, especially the extremes. It is rare for her to feel sorrow, so the most explosive she gets is when she is angry. She will immediately jump into anger when she is wronged, and often will go overboard with her reactions. It is effortless, and as a result she alienates herself from others based on misunderstandings. Throw in a bit of stubbornness thanks to her confidence, Nerisei is rare to apologize but willing to hold grudges for those who have wronged her.

Vindictive ||
Nerisei has been taught a lack of forgiveness, and has grown to really feel a need for revenge. Hamadryad are the protectors of the woods, and will do anything to keep the trees alive. Nerisei has taken that a step further, and if she is wronged she will do anything to ensure that punishment comes to those who deserve it. As a result, if anyone gets on her bad side, it is nearly impossible to find redemption.
