Tomoe had just finished a long shift of traveling his herd lands in patrol. He had to stretch his wings and see something new. As much as he.. tolerated his family and the small herd they had thus far, he needed a change of scenery every once in a great while. It kept the already grumpy stallion from snapping in the ugliest moods. Unfolding his large wings he took to the sky, giving them powerful flaps as he traveled some distance away. He followed a semi familiar path, one the group had traveled to their current destination. Some movement below caught his attention and he circled around to judge what it had been. It was fuzzy and things that were fuzzy were usually not welcomed. This creature was far too close to his herd for comforts sake.
Stretching out his wings to the full extent he let the wind carry him in a slow decent as he watched the area of interest. As he drew closer he could see it was with baskets, both of which didn't look like they belonged to the creature trying to juggle taking away both of them. Tomoe swooped down, giving the kalona in under a fuzzy cape one second of notice before he tackled it to the ground. With his paws he would grasp at the other soquili better than it could with lash out with hooves. He knocked the stranger away from the baskets and sneered at it before he swiped and hit the kalona with a heavy paw. The two fought on the ground for what seemed like hours before with a pant Tomoe snatched one of the baskets and took to the sky. He could try to save them both but even he couldn't take both at once. His paws had curled around the brown basket protectively. If his brothers ever saw him, he might never live this down. It wasn't like him to be concerned about any other creature. It was defenseless without him and he would swear up and down that was his reasoning. While he might have saved it for the time being, he didn't have a clue what the foal inside was. For all he could guess, it might have been a walker basket. This made the stallion take it away from his herd. He had to find a safe place for it but not with him.
The kalona wasn't finished with him. It still wanted the baskets no matter who tried to take them. It attacked again in the air. Tomoe bucked and turned to kick at it with his back paws. He tucked in his wings closer to his body and dove down close to the trees of the forest below. The kalona took advantage from above to follow suit and pounce his back knocking them both into the trees. Branches snapped and shook as both landed and continued their fight. The basket they fought over had fallen from Tomoe's grasp, leaving him open to tear at the kalona with all four paws. Gashes opened on both sides, the kalona getting the worse of it. Teeth and hooves didn't stand up as well to paws and claws. His neck and shoulder were bit several times and he might forever have a scar on his flank but he got the other scrambling out of the trees. Taking to the skies again they flew off with Tomoe pursuing the kalona this time.
