He still hadn't found his phone. And they were heading the Ghoul and Chef, an upscale restaurant in town that only catered to the wealthiest and most influential members of society. Why? For a field-trip of course! He didn't even have a single gold pumpkin seed but somehow the school could afford a whole class' worth of seeds for the meal they'd have.

Apparently the purpose of this trip (and he hadn't known when he'd signed up, mostly because he hadn't bothered to look, a field trip was a field trip after all) was to experience a different... speed of living, to develop one's culinary appreciation and people watch to learn how the upper crust acted. This, of course, would all feed in to their informed world view when it came to the difference between humans and halloweeners. How, he wasn't entirely certain, but it was culture and one needed culture to comprehend other methods of operation.

Honestly, Dekana was just interested in the food and the fancy attire he'd been provided. He cleaned up rather well and in his formal robes, he looked something of a noble. His scales and antlers were set off by colours that were just so, the trim and fit of his clothing as flattering as it could be... this was no general population place they were going to, after all, they had to fit in at least visually.

When they arrived, one of the greeters flagged him down with an expression Dekana could not tell if it meant fear or happiness... they were so pompous, it could possibly have been both. Either way, Dekana spoke to him – or tried to, at any rate – but the greeter simply shoved an envelope into his hands and continued on their way. Taken aback, Dekana frowned at the paper in his hand – if it was another anonymous love letter, the author had gone from kind of scary cute to downright creepy stalker mode.

Opening the letter, Dekana unfolded the single sheaf of paper and frowned at the message. It was short and to the point but he deeply questioned if he was intended as its receipient. It read “HE COMES”... but who was coming? And why? Why did it need all capital letters and why did he need to know this? The envelope's exterior was blank, and when he ripped it open, so was the inside. No clues as to who it was from... the letter itself was plain paper and the words were typed out so he couldn't even ask about handwriting. How bizarre.

If it wasn't so hot and dry outside, Dekana would have simply gone home, called a cab and been done with the day. He'd gotten too many mysterious letters in the last little while and he was rather finished with the whole concept. There was no stated reason to care that 'HE COMES' and no threat that could be discerned... and from the glances people kept sending his way, it wasn't a message his group was getting either.

Irritated, he missed when he was asked to follow a waiter and a classmate had to hip-check him in the direction the waiter was walking brisquely. The dining room was packed, a murmur of noise giving it a lively atmosphere and the opulent decorations were nothing to sneeze at either. They were seated at a great feasting table set with candleabras and crystal goblets the sort of which one might find in a king's castle and less at a modern restaurant.

Fancy as fancy could be, the Ghoul and the Chef at least appeared to be worth the wait... so maybe, just maybe, he'd have that meal before he washed his hands of this ordeal.
