Udara was hungry. Her stomach hurt and she was even more testy than usual. She spread her wings and took to the sky from her roost in a tree, climbing her way through the sky into dizzying heights. This didn't affect her, and heights were only part of her life, like breathing and preening.
She wasn't really paying attention to where she was flying, per say, but rather to what was flying around her. Her eyes picked up sharp details around her: a deer grazing, a mouse dashing between underbrush. She continued to glide through the air, watching below for a good, full meal.
A large hawk caught her eye, and quickly she shot higher up in the air to ambush it from above. The rest of the world muted around her as her vision tunneled around her pray, and then she tucked her wings in and dove.
With some force, she landed on the ground, her wings spread and the still struggling bird in her hands. She was aware that there was another pae near her, and she was ready to brutalize for her meal if she needed to. Snapping the bird's neck, she began to rip handfuls of feather out to get to the meat. Giving an intimidating screech at the other Pae, she ripped into the flesh and ate feverishly.

Pelagious gave a mighty squeal as a loud thump was heard beind him. Such a squeal did he let out, that his hands and weaponry were flung into the air as he squealed, if only out of shock. Nobody ever bothered him in his house. Sure people came, but never suddenly appearing like a banshee to foretell his death. He briefly wondered if this would happen if he popped out of someone's toilet one night. That thought instantly soothed him. He wasn't such a big baby after all.
Turning around, now weaponless as he had flung his weapons in fright, he stopped to stare at the creature who was ripping something apart. On second thought, maybe it was a good thing that nobody bothered him at his house. Because this creature seemed to be a carnivorous bird eating it's own kind, if the feather's floating briefly down around it were any judge.
Slowly backing up, he jumped again as it screeched at him. Yup. It was very good that he had never had company before. Without further word or action, he ran inside his house and quickly looked the door. Then he remembered.
He had left his headdress outside, as well as his tools. "Well, s**t." he whispered fervently.

Meat touched her tongue, and hunger over came her. She ripped into the carcass and took a huge bite, then her head snapped up at the sound of the door slamming shut. Good, the other was gone, it meant she could eat without worry of him trying to take her food.
Slowly, her wings lowered and then folded themselves along her back as she feasted. And once she was done with her carnage, she tossed the remains aside and rubbed the back of her arm across her face to clean up the gore on her mouth.
Something glinted and caught her eyes, and she walked over to look at the shiny tools that had been left out and thrown to the side by the other Pae. Picking up the hammer, she contemplated taking it for herself. It was shiny, after all.

Pelagious took a deep breathe and steeled himself to look out the door. Then another deep breathe. And another. Finally, after a few minutes, he had gathered enough courage to at least open the door and peek. What he saw made him gasp in shock. She was handling his tools.
Forgetting about his fear, he threw open the door and ran outside, waving his arms like a mad man. "HHEEEEYYYY!!!" he shouted, hoping this new pae he had never seen before wasn't hard of hearing. Considering she was a few feet in front of him, he hoped that was true, anyway.
He drew up short, just a foot or so of distance between them, and put his hands on his hips in his own brand of surly attitude. "Those are very valuable, lady. And I would appreciate it if you wou - wo - w.." he trailed off. He was finally getting a good look at his new guest and what he saw made his tummy do funny things. She had, what he was assuming, hell, what he was hoping, was bird blood smeared across her face and arm. He suddenly felt very weak.
He struggled to finish his speech but alas. It was useless. His world slowly grew dark around the bird lady and down he went. Like a lamb to slaughter, so to speak.

"WHAT" she screeched out at the other Pae as he yelled at her, spinning to look at him. She'd been taken by surprise, so automatically she was on the attack. Her wings flew out from her back, a few feathers falling from them, as she made herself look larger than she was.
She was completely oblivious to the fact that her meal was still all over her, and she narrowed her eyes at Pelagious as he tried to lecture her. And then down he went, crumpled.
This startled Udara, as she hadn't been THAT intimidating... had she? Tilting her head, she carefully made her way over to the limp figure, waiting for him to jump up and take her from surprise. That had to be he plan, why else would someone place themselves so vulnerably? However, as she circled around him and he didn't stir, she began to doubt that this was his intention. Hesitantly, she reached out with a clawed finger and poked at him. "Hello....?"

Udara stared in quiet confusion as the strange pae first woke up, then screamed and passed out. Her head tilted to the side as she waited for the male to wake back up. It was entertaining, how he would wake up and then make a weird noise only to go back to sleep. Carefully, she hopped around Pelagious' passed out body, inspecting more, before something caught her eye.
Something shiny.
Her attention turned back to the tools that glistened in the sunlight, and she felt a grin come over her face. "Mine!" she exclaimed to no one, grabbing a tool in each hand, spreading her wings, and flying off. What a great day, first a filling meal, and now some pretty trinkets!
