Caligineus Pulchritudo

Race: Vampire

Age: 1000 years old, but has the appearance of a 18 year old.

Past: In the late 1600’s Caligineus was born a half breed vampire. A dhampir. An abomination who was shunned from the walking blood sacks and his own kind. He felt completely alone in a world he thought he didn’t belong. Though with the love and nurture of his human mother Caligineous never fell too deep into his blackhole of misery.

Being a dhampir he aged like a human but very rapidly. Three months after being born he was already at the age of 3 years old. By the time he was suppose to be of 18 months old he was actually full grown. Caligineous looked to be of the age of an 18 year old male and after that he never saw himself age a day older.

Caligineous spent the next 12 years with his mother, who was killed before his very eyes by hunts men who had been tracking Caligineous for the past 4 years. The men had been aiming their firearms toward the defenseless Caligineous while he picked fruit for his mother. In the moments that seemed fatal to the vampire his human guardian jumped in front of the coming bullets using herself a human meat shield. One bullet lodge itself inside the front of her forehead, breaking through the skull, and entering her brain. She died almost instantly.

In a fit of rage Caligineous ripped the men into mincemeat and drenched himself in the blood of these vile animals. Licking the blood off of his fingers he gagged. “The taste of rotten fish.” With that being the last words he uttered in that godforsaken forest Caligineous disappeared into a different land. A land where it seemed that the people lived on the ends of a mountain that spewed fire when awoken.

Caligineous lived in this area called Hawaii for one whole century until he meets a princess. A princess who is suppose to be heir to the thrown in which she was born into. They meet one night while Caligineous is taking a walk along the beach shoreline as he has just finished a meal. The stench of iron surrounds him and his clothes are still stained with splotches of maroon. He smells her before she even within a mile of him. What’s strange is that it’s not the scent of her blood that intrigues him, she smells just like every other meat bag, but it’s the slight overwhelming scent of, “Puakenikeni.” the word seems to stumble out of his mouth.

Continuing his walk Caligineous blocks out this obviously bothering perfume like scent until he feels a finger push into the side of his ribcage. Doing a complete about face Caligineous sees no one at first sight. “mhm.” a soft voice clears their throat and his eyes snap down immediately.

And Caligineous swears even to the present day of 2015 it was the only time he has ever felt his heart race. Ever since that day in 1893 that Princess changed everything in his stand still life, even up to the day she died in 1899.

After her death Caligineous left the beautiful island and all the beautiful, tropical memories behind.

ღ Past: Ailani was born into a loving upper-middle class family. Her mother was a photographer and her father took over the resort that was in passed through their generations. When Ailani was seven her and her family got into a car accident, with her being the only survivor. After the death of her parents Ailani was taken in by her grandparents and they resided in the resort.

During the first couple of years after the death of her parents Ailani never smiled. It was after much therapy and support when she finally got better and returned to the happy girl that she used to be. However, during those days where she's no longer okay, she takes a walk on the beach at nighttime and sometimes lies on the sand to feel better.

For some reason Ailani always loved puakenikeni, maybe it was because of the smell, the beauty, or the fact that it was her parent's favorite flower. No matter where or when people would always find a puakenikeni in Ailani's hair. Like her mother Ailani loved photography, and she often goes hiking to take photos.

Over the years Ailani helped out at her grandparent's resort while attending school. After graduating high school she went to study management and marketing at the University of Hawaii. Because Ailani constantly helped out at the resort and took summer courses, she graduated in three years.

Ailani currently works at the resort as the bartender, famous for her puakenikeni cocktail where the drink has a beauty taste and smell to it. When she's not working at the resort Ailani loves to go to downtown with some of her friends and her boyfriend.

Caligineus Pulchritudo

"Mmm." The wind whips around Caligineous as he buries his bare feet into the sand. "How nice." A smile creeps onto his facial features slowly. It's been entirely too long, Hawaii. Caligineous lets his eyes glide across the scenery, taking in the beauty of the colors and the swaying of the palm trees. The sky was magenta, fuchsia, and still blue as the sun fell down in it's timely manner. As he stood there in awe the ocean came to greet his toes with watery kisses.

Caligineous hadn't felt this much peace since...since she left me. He bit down on his lip in annoyance. Curse that women! Just when I thought I had rid my being of her. She slips in through the cracks. A taking a deep breath he got a nose full of a familiar, welcoming scent. Caligineous felt himself freeze. "She's here?" Caligineous senses were searching for the direction of the smell. It wasn't just the fragrant of that stupid flower that had him on edge, but it was the smell of blood.

Every human had a different smell, but hers was distinct. It stood out from teh rest of the meat bags, Caligineous could never miss a smell like that. A smell that reminded him of a dying flower. He loved it to no end, and couldn't wrap his mind around what was happening. "Where is she.." His graceful movements replaced with frantic, clumsy jolts. He just couldn't place where it was coming from the wind kept changing.

Finally after what seemed to be forever, and trust he would know what forever felt like, he found the source of the scent. "A resort?" He glanced around, and his eyes landed on a bartender. Caligineous felt himself begin to shake.

The splash against the waves upon the rocks outside the little cottage on the beach, woke Ailani up that morning. Ailani had the option of living in the resort, but she decided to live elsewhere. Her little cottage was a two story wooden house around 5 miles away from the resort. The cottage had a Bali and tropical type of decor with the first floor being the living room and kitchen, and the second floor being the master bedroom. Once Ailani got out of bed she went on the patio surrounding the second story of the house. Her daily routine started off with sunrise yoga, getting ready for work, a healthy breakfast, then finally heading to the resort. That day Ailani wore a short white sundres, and as usual a puakenikeni on her hair.

When Ailani got to the resort she greeted everyone kindly and made her way to the bar. Even in the morning, the bar was busy, with people drinking by the pool, the ocean, or just kids wanting a smoothie. Everyday the bar was busy, and Ailani rarely got time to rest.

Luckily for Ailani, another girl came at five to help Ailani out, though only Ailani knew how to make her famous puakenikni cocktail. When Calingineous saw Ailani, she was working the bar endlessly, trying to make drink after drink as fast as possible, as well as serve drinks, for a waiter had just recently quit.

I am being ridiculous. There is no way that is Leilani. My Leilani is gone. She's been gone for a while. I am simply being tricked by island. Caligineous turned sharply around, and had almost stomped off, but he couldn't shake the feeling that if he did he would miss a very important opportunity. "God dammit." Hissed Caligineous under his breath as he headed towards the bar. Just one good look at her face. That's all I need, and I will be fine. I will be certain that it is not her. As Caligineous glided over towards the bar he felt the stares of women and men alike. It wasn't that Caligineous stood out, as he looked just like any other human being. It had more to do with the aura that was given off by him. It attracted everyone to him no matter how hard he tried to fit in. People just noticed him.

Letting out a very soft breath Caligineous took a seat at the bar. He ran a hand through his grey hair, and tried to settle his nerves. They were buzzing all over the place like busy bees. With nerves at their height Caligineous began to bounce his leg, and tap his fingers on the counter, seeming impatient by the observation of others. Caligineous looked at the ground as he waited for her to come his way, but he was too frighten to let his eyes laid upon her beauty.

Please. Please. Please, don't let this be a dream.

Ailani made drink after drink for people as they stood by the bar asking for drinks. The stream of orders seemed endless, until finally they stopped. Ailani let out a sigh of relief and looked up. Everyone seemed to be staring at some boy walking toward the bar. Out of curiosity Ailani tried to sneak a peek, but the people in front of her were blocking the sight and she couldn't see anything other than the back of their heads.

When the people finally began to disappear for dinner, she noticed that the boy was sitting by the bar. He looked young, as if he was merely 18 or 19. The first thing she noticed about him was that he seemed nervous, so she made him her famous puakenikeni cocktail and went over to him. She put the drink in front of his face and smiled. "Hey there! You seem nervous... take this drink it might make you feel better... and don't worry this one is on the house.... and if you feel like talking to someone you can just call me over." she said kindly then she went back to make some more drinks for her customers.

Caligineous took in a sharp breath as she appeared in front of him. <********, ********, ********, ********. She looks just like Leilani. Caligineous was in a lost of words as he took the cocktail from her. Wide eyed and shocked Caligineous let her voice soak into his very being. Soft. Her voice is soft. He gulped down the considerable amount of spit that had built up in his mouth. As he took a large sip of the cocktail he nearly choked. It felt as if fireworks had erupted on his tongue. This s**t is delicious. Caligineous glanced over at AIani as she gracefully made drinks, and felt a warmness spread throughout him. How could this be happening? This almost seems to good to be true. How is Leilani here? After 10 minutes of sitting in silence by himself he tried to catch her eye.

I have to know. What's different about her? Caligineous attempted to wave her down, but ultimately failed due to the fact that this bar was extremely busy. Blowing raspberries he slumped in his car and just watched her for the time being. She was gorgeous. She out shined all of the women that were surrounding the bar. Ailani was simply radiant. It almost seemed like she had her own orbit to her that pulled people in without meaning to. Caligineous watched as her hips swayed as she maneuvered around the confined space in the bar. The white sundress fit her rather perfectly, and she managed not to look indecent. I wonder what she looks like ou- Caligineous shook the thoughts out of his head. You don't even know if it's actually her, Caligineous. Calm down. This might just be some trickery. Sighing he glanced over at Ailani.

How she brought bitter sweet memories back into his head again. The memories seemed to play in his head like an old movie stuck on replay.

Caligineous stared down at Leilani as she glared up at his tall form. "Leilani..calm down." Caligineous tried to touch her but she roughly shoved his hands away from her.

"No! YOU shame me, Caligineous. How could you deceive me for so long? Are we not friends?" Leilani clamored at him as her hands did wild motions in the air. Leilani's hair blew into her face as she stared up at Caligineous with tears in her eyes.

Caligineous glanced around exasperated. "Leilani. Hush ones self." Calligineous grabbed her roughly on the shoulders and pulled Leilani up into a deep kiss. The world vanished once their lips had hit. Nothing else matter. Just them. Just them in this tiny infinity that they had just created with each other. When Caligineous pulled away he pulled Leilani into a tight hug while he ran his fingers through her hair. "I am sorry I didn't tell you sooner that I was a dhampir. I was scared you wouldn't care to be by my side anymore."

Snapping out of his daze Caligineous wiped the tears from his face profusely as people at the bar were staring. He covered his mouth with his hand to suppress a sob. Of all the times for this to happen...

While tonight's work was hectic, this wasn't even considered a busy night. When Friday comes along, there would be more people and in other words... more work. They needed to hire a new waiter... fast. Drink after drink, people came and go, always leaving a generous tip. Luckily, when dinner time came around the people slowly began to disappear. This was one of the perks about being a bartender here at the resort. When dinner time came around, the bar was empty. The men who had been drinking all day to avoid sightseeing with their family, would be dragged into eating at one of their many five star restaurants, and though many did come back after dinner, a lot of people opt out to go to the clubs and bars in town, that were bustling with all different sorts of people.

After serving the last customer Ailani let out a sigh of relief and told her partner to go eat dinner. She looked around the bar to clean up when she saw Calingineous. Wow... he's still here... she thought to herself.

After cleaning Ailani made two more puakenikeni cocktails and went over to him and handed one to him. "Here you go... but you'll have to pay for this one." she said with a playful wink. She took a sip of her drink and sat on the stool on her side of the bar. "So.... since you're still here... did you want to talk?" she asked.
