AstoriaFallen Sorry this took so long! XD I just wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with Claymore in this. He isn't someone I rp often and it takes me a moment to grasp his character.
Claymore grumbled under his breath, tucking his great wings closer against his side in his agitation. He had called up his family, hunkering them down in and empty cave for the time being. They were tired, hungry, and soaked. It wasn’t a pleasant combination, they needed food. He pawed the earth, great hoof easily tearing it up as he eyed the outside. The rain was still coming down steadily and the wind was rather harsh but things were better than they had been. Perhaps he could find some small game, a deer or something.
As much as he’d like to bring them the flesh of one of their enemies now was not the time. It might alert them to their position and they were in no shape to take any group on. He snorted angrily before glancing back at his family once more. They’d been so proud before this, so strong, it hurt him to see them as they were now.
With another irritated grumble he stepped out into the dreary conditions. His great head nearly scraping the top of the cave as he exited, the cave was too small a living space for someone so large. They’d move on soon, if only because of that very reason.
He made his way up, great hooves turning up the ground as his spaded tail lashed back and forth. Atop the rock formation he glanced around, eyes squinting in an attempt to see anything. He wasn’t likely to find any sort of game in this weather. Most things were smart enough to get out of this hell pit but he supposed he wasn’t most things. Still perhaps if he was lucky he’d spot something, and if nothing else they did need a look out. He wasn’t about to ask anyone else to do it either.
He’d been standing watch longer than he really cared to admit over the years. Never had Claymore been one of those to hide in the back or sleep soundly when his men were doing all the work. Sleeping was easier when he knew he’d given something to the herd as well, even when it was something as simple as keeping watch. Often times he could be found with his men, training, watching, joking, laughing, they’d been like his own children. With a snort he turned away from that train of thought. It would do to dwell on the past right now, he’d have time to wallow in his guilt and regret later. He’d done the best he could, even if it hadn’t been enough. Perhaps that was the problem; his best had never fallen this short before.
Pulling himself from his own thoughts his eyes caught on a slight figure. He narrowed his gaze for surly that was not what he thought it was, had they really sent scouts this far out?! With a great bellow that could just be heard over the whistle of the wind he dove off the rocky outcropping spreading large wings out as he descended upon the mare. The weight of his body making it nigh impossible for the wind to blow him off course. If she didn’t run the little mare would be faced with a beast from nightmare that much was certain.
