The Imperious Coliseum

This RP is open to all shop trolls. Trolls are not required to roll and may post as frequently as desired. Posts containing rolls must have at least two sentences of RP to be counted. If trolls interact with others and reach 500 words doing so, this RP can be counted for 1 RP point. Each roll watching fights or participating in fights at the coliseum does not (and likely should not) need to be a new day or long passage of time in character, and can simply be a new action that the troll takes any time after the previous action.

The A.L.G.
The Alternian League of Gladiaterrors is an organization run out of Four Fronds, with competitors hailing from all across Alternia. Traian Munera heads the operation in tight order. Gladiaterrors are contracted for regular appearances for entertainment, fighting each other for rank and status as well as higher pay. They are also primarily used to deal out punishments upon criminals, who are not considered to be official members of the Gladiaterrorial league prior to proving themselves via success in combat and popularity. While members of the Phoenix Initiative and other groups not endorsed by the Alternian government may join the League, they must keep their allegiance a secret if they do not break ties with such controversial groups, and most often enter as criminals with the odds stacked against them in battle.

Private selection of gladiaterrors for fights and other under the table dealings may very well happen in this organization, as hired muscle is plentiful and purchasable within ALG.

Housing is available in the Coliseum area itself; on-site housing is required for recently sprung criminals, and low-ranking fighters may apply for housing of not much higher quality. However, highly esteemed gladiaterrors are treated well and have cushy hives near the Coliseum, and are treated to special privileges. They also have separate preparation areas in the Coliseum itself for before fights.

The nature of combat is as diverse and terrifying as any Alternian bloodsport. Executions are frequently carried out in the form of entertaining battles played out for the masses. Representations of historic battles are recreated with criminals on the big stage, and grotesque displays of criminally charged trolls including wild animals, handicaps and special circumstances and even their own lusii may take place. However, many prized fighters may simply fight for sport in events put on by the League without risk of culling. These events have a huge following, and have become some of the most popular forms of entertainment in the Coliseum as they offer drama, action, and continued storylines to tease the entertainment-loving crowd of Alternia. In a typical event between established fighters and enjoyed by the casual public, fights are not carried through to the death.

There are also occasional openings for amateur fights in the Coliseum, and during these times outsiders are welcome to try their hand at a fight on the big stage. After all, the original purpose of the Coliseum was to celebrate Regina Marian's rise as Empress in a public Battle Royale. On that note, non-combat oriented events are also carried out here, often sponsored by the government.

Trolls interested in joining the ALG can begin their journeys here.

About this location:
The lobby and stage area are always open for visitors, but during events trolls will need to pay admission (an in-character fee). Trolls may roleplay in these locations in this thread. Because of the nature of this location, it is requested that roleplays taking place in the private areas such as the backstage, the locker rooms, dormitories and preparation areas for gladiaterrors are played out in separate RP threads to avoid a lot of action in many different locations at once, especially while events are taking place.

The lobby contains merchandise booths, a concessions stand and plenty of places to sit or stand and wait for matches, as well as huge framed posters of previous gladiaterror champions and images of (of course) Regina Marian herself.

The ring is an immense and multi-purpose theatre space. It is highly customizable and state of the art, and features immense jumbotron screens for seeing the action up close. The stage can be reassembled to create all kinds of battlefields including scaffolding, natural landscapes, and can even be used to stage naval battles or bizarre and complicated obstacle courses.

When there are no Special Events going on, trolls can come and enjoy fights at the Coliseum. Roll dice to determine your wrestler's appearance and how they fare in battle, and make bets to get some credit rewards!

Dice Rolling Rules for Observing a Match!

Roll 5D8 to determine which fighter you'll be betting on, and the result of their match. Each die corresponds directly to one of the pools below. The fifth die determines what happens in their match! You are welcome to describe what happened during the match and how your character and the audience responds. For additional flavor, consider the opposing fighter to be the fighter generated in the post preceding your troll's.

Betting:
When rolling for your fighter and for their match, you can make bets on the outcome! Before rolling, guess if your fighter is going to win, lose or tie their match by changing your post style and state the amount of credits you would like to bet. A SHOUT post style means that you bet your troll is going to win their match. A WHISPER post style means that you bet your troll is going to lose their match. And a THINKING post style means that you bet your troll is going to tie their match. Due to a glitch on Gaia's part, styles other than Shout and Whisper are not working when using post actions. Please roll 6D8 instead of 5D8 if you would like to bet that your fighter will tie their match. The sixth die will not affect the results, and will merely be proof of your bet prior to receiving your results. If you do not use a post style (or in the case of a tie, roll 6D cool , you are considered to have not bet that round and do not gain or lose any credits from watching the round!

Winning:
If you correctly guess the outcome of your fight, you'll win credits! If you guess incorrectly, you lose everything! You get 2 free credits each new day you post in this location. You can bet on 3 fights per day. The payouts are as follows:

LOSE: 2x credits put in!
WIN: 3x credits put in!
TIE: 8x credits put in!

Example
I have 2 credits. I bet both of my credits that my fighter will LOSE their match, and use a whisper post style. In the same post, I roll 5D8! The result is:

3, 5, 2, 1, 3

So my fighter is a springy tealblood wearing a skimpy outfit and a mask. According to the 5th die (3), they lose their battle with the troll who was previously posted. Since I correctly bet on the loss, I gain x2 credits! (2 x 2 = 4). I now have a total of 4 credits
. I can bet on 2 more fights today.

Coliseum Battle Events

NEXT BATTLE EVENT:
N/A

Occasionally, a special battle event will become available within the thread that individuals can participate in for battle growth points! Most of these events will be open to the public, but occasionally an event may open for ALG members only. Users may only participate with one troll per battle event, and kids may not participate in battle unless the battle specifically allows it.

To keep up to date on when a battle event will take place, check this post for updates. There will be a mule post when the event will officially commence, and then a mule post when the event ends. Events will typically last between a few days to a week, and will be on a timer. The details of the specific battle event featured will describe the conditions for winning or losing a battle, and how much participation is required for growth.

Once the event is finished, a post will be made detailing the results of the battle and growth points, and that information will be stored in the records post below.

Joining the ALG
To join the ALG, one must be formally invited by Traian Munera. This arrangement is usually made by distinction in the arena, and after participating in a Coliseum Battle event an individual may quote the mule for a prompt. This prompt will be a brief interaction between the troll in question and Traian in which they are given the offer and accept it. At this time, your troll's name will be added to the rankings board and list of ALG members and you may participate in special ALG-only battles!

Trolls may also receive an invitation from Traian outside of the ring via NPC interaction in an unrelated RP.

A large coliseum for fighting? It didn't seem like a lot of fun, but the energy in the room buzzed across her finger tips. Smiling to herself, Milieu paced along the waiting area, the scent of food wafting and mixing in with the excitement. She never considered herself a warrior, but there was something in the nature of all trolls that let them enjoy a good battle.

Haphazardly she threw down her two free betting tokens and pointed to the fighter. A small blueblood, wearing a croptop (that was basically strings) and a pair of daisy dukes and fishnets. The combo was a little repulsive, but Milieu admired the way that the small troll held themselves weary and willing to scrap. Also the metal studs that accessorized their face and outfit was just too appealing to ignore.

The battle itself was more intense than she could imagine! Clutching the betting receipt to her chest, the teal blood wildly waved her arms in the air as the scrappy fighter managed, somehow, to take down the opponent! It was a close, close call. By the battles end the matchmaker was practically vibrating off the bench in excitement. All the urges that battles and fights brought up came crashing like a waterfall over Milieu. All she wanted now was to grab her daggers and start destroying someone. Tsk. Too bad it wouldn't happen. With the wind momentarily knocked from her sails, she quickly recalled having bet and won.

Scuttling to the betting booth she showed the ticket and received her winnings. Six betting tokens! Oh! So this was the thrill of gambling, hmm? A twinkle shone in her eyes as she carefully placed the tokens into the bloomer pockets. This could be rather fun...

Miache didn't mind rooting for underdogs, in fact maybe it was just that reason he bought the ticket to see the tiny redblood win. His opponent looked like a bruiseer, but really...anything next to such a small thing was sure to look like that. Though, not to lie, perhaps his choice of betting had something to do with the rather commendable effort of proper attire the redblood showed. While Miache had a MUCH nicer suit....he had to give props to any lowblood that wore any sort of elaborate and tidy outfit, the gloves actually even reminded the little troll of his own, feeling somewhat better that he wasn't the only troll to wear them....he'd begun to worry.

As the match reached a climax the wriggler stood on the tips of his toes, awestruck at the fighters, not only was it a close match, the lowblood was actually dealing more lumps than he was taking! With one final blow the higherblooded troll groaned and sunk to the ground, knocked out as the redblood secured his victory. AMAZING! He'd never known.....he slunk down a little and pursed his lips. Strange....lowbloods were weak, weren't they? And they were messy? But this lowblood not only dressed well....he proved himself the strongest in the ring. Miache shook his muddled head, eyes wandering around the crowd until he spotted another troll.....one he'd seen before....hadn't he? He openly gaped a little seeing her so much.....BIGGER!

"H-hey!" He said, trying and failing to hide the surprise in his voice as he called out to her. "Milieu--" Wait.......what was he going to say? s**t! HE HADN'T THOUGHT THAT FAR AHEAD!

Eridia couldn't believe she was actually witnessing a fight at the coliseum. "This better be fun! I'm not gonna get in trouble for a lame fight." She said with a grin as she waited in line to buy her tickets. After the purchase, the child headed towards the betting trolls who seemed thrilled by the idea of two trolls hitting each other. The chubby purpleblood analyzed the two fighters. It didn't take her long to choose her bet. The trashy orangeblood.

Sure the fellow couldn't dress properly but the troll did seem stronger than the other so... why not? She rushed inside, taking the best seat just to see the fun begin.

The fight was agonizing. She could help but think she was actually wrong. Me? Wrong?

"Impossible! I'm neeeever wrong!" She screamed Eridia stood up on her seat to see the fight better. "You better win lowblood! My validity is on the line!!!!

Just as she thought it was all over, the orange blood got a hold of his opponent, held the troll upside down. His head was firmly tucked between the orange blood's.... crack! Went the oponent's head. With a low thud he laid paralyzed on the ground.

"OOF!" Eridia fell back on her seat, laughing. "THAT'S GOTTA HURT!" After the match, Eridia happily went to reclaim her tokens. Never doubting my guts again!

Hemera was not particularly interested in violence for violence sake. It was so base. Simply, she would prefer not to. Unfortunately, the entire troll race was predisposed towards aggression, and it manifested in multiple ways. And if the coliseum and the sport in it was popular, well, it just would not do for her to be clueless about the affair.

She came in, quietly hoping no one would recognize her. The tealblood wasn't exactly excited to watch a zealous sweatfest or have anyone believe she had any interest in that.

But...ah...there seemed to be a betting system? Prizes, free tokens to start one's way towards getting those prizes. Hmm. The scarf and jacket were admittedly appealing. Fine. She would give it a shot.

Hemera made her way over to the ring, in time to see an orangeblood and a yellowblood about to tussle. Not knowing anything about the previous match, she contemplated. Both contestants were pretty beefy. While the yellowblood was...almost glimmering with what she assumed was sweat, the orangeblood meanwhile looked garrish. That was enough to put her credits down on the yellowblood.

After watching for a while and nearly getting engrossed in the action, her fighter was about to come out on top. The other troll wasn't getting up. The yellowblood was standing strong, flexing, making the crowd roar...but didn't see the movement in the ring behind them. Mera saw it, though, and her face fell. The gross orangeblood was back up and quickly dispatched the yellowblood when they weren't looking.

Well, there went the betting money.

((Weird. I clicked the thinking style. OH WELL. Milieu did not bet after all!))

Milieu had meant to bet, really she had. A battle of a ripped, shiny looking yellowblood with styled horns that had recently lost a match versus a Curvaceous blueblood in a neon suit and armbands? Oh man, there was a match to behold! She was going to bet it all that they were going to tie. After all, the other troll had just been whooped and the curvaceous crumpet of a troll seemed like it could take out the ripped one with a sway of their hips. Oh, Milieu could almost imagine it.

She was poised to eagerly point out a number when her name was called. It was a little startling. Not many trolls knew her, right? And that voice sounded very childlike. Familiar, but in a distant way. Confused, the tealblood turned and stepped from the betting booth. The voice had come from... Her eyes scanned the trolls that were eagerly watching the next bout of fighting, cheering as the gawdy-neon-nightmare pranced around the stage and shoot their fists in the air.

Milieu sucked in sharply, her eyes the size of diner plates, one hand clutched to her chest. A split second later a look of sheer warmth and delight spread over her features as the tealblood rushed through the crowd, carefully picking her steps to not get thrashed by the rowdy watchers (some liked to swing and shout at the same time, it seemed).

Miache. She couldn't recall his last name. Miache... After the large destruction of New Hemisect, he had come from his home in Four Fronds to help rebuild her hive. Together, with his little raptor lusus, they had worked to right the destruction. He had been a little neat and uptight, but still kind. Furthermore, he hadn't cared too much that she had to comunicate through whiteboard. Speaking of said whiteboard, she wiped it out and was already furiously scrawling a cursive message well before getting to Miache proper.

By the time the teen tealblood stood before her long lost acquaintance, she could present the board and message to him in triumph, || Miache! Miache I have not seen you in so very long. I was worried you might have passed in all the chaos that has ensued lately. It's so very good to see you, my dear! ||

(Very weird......I also used the thinking style and it didn't work o_o maybe Gaia is having issues.....)

"Your writing is as aesthetically pleasing as ever," he said, nodding his approval. That was certainly something he could appreciate about the older troll, she had style and a certain air of grace to her. He could easily chalk that up to her being of a better blood colour, but he knew just as many others that couldn't write at all...plus even as she'd grown she still chose a rather fashionable style, not something modern that 'normal' trolls went with, a style that felt all her own. Plus....as he'd suspected last time he'd seen her....she was quite clean! He'd made for allowances last time when she'd been dusted with debris from her destroyed hive, but this time her clothing, hair, and skin were impeccable.

He was dragged from further aesthetic assessments when he remembered that her writing was actually not just to look nice, he quickly read the message and nodded to her. "Yes...I suppose I've gotten a...little caught up? But nothing bad!" He knew there were rebels going around and the thought unnerved him. The idea there were violent trolls trying to upset the order that went around attacking other trolls....sickening! "How have you been? You look well." Of course, to him saying someone looked well was as much a judgement of their physical appearance as well as how healthy they looked.

Hey guys! I just did a few tests to see what the deal was, and apparently there's a glitch on Gaia's part where post styles other than Shout and Whisper just don't work with post actions. Nice job, Gaia.

Anyway! If you'd like to bet on a tie from now on, please roll 6D8 instead of 5D8 (the extra die is just to prove that you've bet before the results of the match pop up). Sorry for the inconvenience!

Miache's compliment warmed Milieu's heart. He was still so proper and kind. The teal blood carefully wiped off the message and moved to write more when a passing fan jolted her, causing the pen to draw an erratic line. It wasn't like she could bet on matches and talk to Miache at the same time. Tucking the board away, Milieu motioned for the child to follow, and turned to leave the observation area.

In the main lobby, where the food vendors and betting stall stood, she found a quiet corner and resumed her writing. || I'm glad to hear you have been well. Thank you for saying so! I have been very well. || That wasn't entirely true, but it wasn't something that the matchmaker could divulge to the young troll, even if he seemed the reasonable sort. Some topics needed to remain guarded. || What brought you here today, Miache? This sort of venue does not strike me as a place you would find refined. ||

Well....sure, in all the muck that'd been going on lately....he'd been nervous to leave his house with all those threats of rebels, Miache was a good, loyal boy that LISTENED to his superiors....he couldn't understand why some trolls had so much issue with that concept. Although....he also didn't like how said superiors would kill Milieu for her...abnormality. It was complicated....though hearing how well she'd been doing relaxed his mind, at least that meant she hadn't gotten into any trouble with highbloods....well....highbloods that would threaten her. He wouldn't....she'd done nothing wrong, and as it were she was aesthetically pleasing in ways. In fashion sense, writing, manner of speech....

He pursed his lips a little at the thought. "Well..." he began, looking thoughtful, "one cannot learn to disapprove of something without experiencing it. My lusus thought this would be a good way to get me out in public and try something new. While I greatly approve of the violence I'm not certain how I feel about the gambling aspect...also some of the trolls here are.....unwashed," he scrunched his nose in distaste, he'd seen a couple of trolls dressed sloppily like beasts or in trashy attire....obviously some of the contestants needed a designer to right them.

Well, this sure was a scene. The next fight seemed to have an outright feral theme. Both contestants looked like wild brutes. Well, one more so than the other. A tealblood and a greenblood...not really digging either looks much, she decided to take a chance on the lowerblood. Just out of kindness and perhaps natural pity.

And the fight was absolutely vicious. The wrestlers didn't pull any stops with their themes, and the greenblooded sweatfest of a troll quickly proved that size did not matter so much as unloading a can of whoop-a**.

Mera barely paused from being horrified to realize that she did, in fact, win some credits from this. Meanwhile, Pagoni was getting fussy. It was loud, hot, smelly, and he whined that someone had stepped on his tail. A few times now.

"Second fight's the charm." Eridia murmured to herself as she approached the betting booth. The purpleblood made her choice. Something told her the red blood was the winning troll. After betting her tokens, the child skipped inside and sat down. She loved the coliseum, it felt like a second hive-- only... louder and filled with brawls.

Ding ding.

The fight started, but her winner hadn't entered the ring. Huh? That's weird. The lights went off, and the red blood entered in an flamboyant manner and her neon attire complemented her entrance. "Oh gog! That's the most awesomest entrance I've eveeeer seen!!!!" The child squealed, hoping to get the mask after the fight as a souvenir. But just as both trolls were face to face, the other took out the red blood easily.

"WHAAAAT?!?!"
She couldnt believed she was wrong. I made the wrong choice? Me? Eridia looked at her ticket and began to tear it apart. "I-I..." She swallowed, this wasn't happening. Eridia tried convincing herself this was all a lie yet, she knew she wasn't smart enough to fool herself. "...HAVEN'T LOST. YEAH!" The purpleblood said to herself smiling bitterly. "I DIDN'T EVEN.... I DIDN'T EVEN BET SINCE THE BEGINNING!"
