Quiet nights like these were the best. Castor cast a glance over his shoulder to the small thicket where he liked to bed down at times before gently increasing his speed to that of a canter. The stallion once again felt that he came alive under the dark carpet of the night sky that glittered with countless stars. He breathed deeply as he felt his shoulders roll with the movement of his gait. Castor's love for the night was now well known by the rest of the family and instead of disturbing them countless night after night he had taken to sleeping in an area that was nearby but far enough away that he did not disturb everyone else.

Castor's pace slowed to a walk as he took in all that the night had to offer. The ears on his head flicked back and forth catching all the sounds that they were assailed with. That rushing sound to his right was a stream in the distance, swollen with the spring melt. Castor swung his head in that direction with resolute purpose. He still felt wary about the fact that he had not seen one of his sisters for the longest period of time. Although he knew that Midnight's Whisper had it in for him he could not help but be concerned for her. Why was she so jealous about his arrival? Surely even her grudge could not last this long, could it? Flicking his tail with uncertainty Castor continued on the way to the stream; his thirst dictating to him to his actions at the moment.
