A fresh spring day was just the perfect kind of time Tinker Toy expected of his day off. Well, almost day off. He had to go deliver some restored toys to a few clients, but after that he could go on to enjoy the rest of the warming weather. With a grin, he checked the cart's spring locks were in place, frowning as one of the wooden panels didn't stay in it's place and was swing on it's hinges. A low growl and a kick later, it stuck itself back in place long enough for him to put all the little hooks into their loops, keeping the left window panel close. He made a mental note to check the hinges later, the wood around them might had expand during the last rainy days. Perhaps it was a little excessive to be taking the old toy cart to do deliveries, but one of them was a large set of tin toys, a train track with it's trains and many many cargo carts. That alone was too heavy and bothersome to take in saddle bags, let alone taken along with all the other deliveries. As he began pulling the cart, he wonder where exactly had Barley gotten the toy from. There had been nothing wrong with it, just needed to have it's paint stripped and repainted with safer paint choices. And what exactly was Barley going to do with them? She didn't seem like a kid-at-heart type. Maybe she would set them up to rot somewhere in her brewery, and wouldn't that be a shame. Did Orchid care for trains? Was this a present of some kind? All these little thoughts kept him distracted as he walked down the street, dodging the pothole but missing it caught the back wheel of his cart, making the hooks jump and panel jump out of place and swing happily into the air. The early morning noises keeping him from hearing the clank of tin locomotive and several of its colorful carts falling out onto the street as he hurried down to his client's place of work.

Dabberlocks hadn't seen the train set fall or else his course of actions may have been quite different. The foal was just out for a walk, stretching his legs on such a bright spring day without companionship of any adults. He was big now, after all. He got to do all sorts of things by himself, so long as he was home by sunset!
It just so happened that he should stumble upon a little train set sitting in the road. He looked left and right and saw nobody at all. This was the greatest kind of treasure... but what if it was someone else's? Nobody was around, though. He didn't hear a peep, so then was it his? He lifted the toy with his magic and inspected it. It looked brand-new, save for maybe the dirt smeared on its sides. He looked up the road and down it, left and right, but there was nothing but the sound of birds to greet him. Boy, wouldn't this be cool to bring home to his siblings?!

Tinker Toy was snapped out of his imaginative little thoughts when he heard loud wodden claps behind him. Turning to see what that was about, he kept himself from screetching at seeing his cart's side open, dangling out tentavely a bundle of tracks by the string that kept them together. Quickly putting it back into the cart, he took stock of the road behind him. It was empty, yet to give himself peace of mind, he peeked into the cart. "AAAAAH!" He stuffed his hooves into his mouth to keep from screaming further as seeing the train missing. Oh dear, Barley was going to make beer out of his bones if he didn't find that toy. There was no time to even replace it, well..maybe if he lied. But lying and being caught meant he would be caught off his favorite beer brew. "..........." He smacked his forehead against the loose panel and groaned. Locking the cart again, he guide it to an out of the way spot before bolting down the road to find the missing train.

Dabber still wasn't entirely sure what to do. Obviously this was someone's, but why had they left it behind? It was so neat and pristine just lying there. It'd be a heck of a treasure to bring home, and one that they could use, even! His sister sometimes made fun of him for the uselessness of most of what he brought home, but this! This was good!
His thought broke when he heard galloping, and he shoved the engine into his saddlebag which now held just a snack and a plastic shovel. When a green stallion approached he only stared wide-eyed. What was going on? Was he in trouble? The foal froze, standing just before the train cars that he had gently placed back on the ground.

grasshopper pie [I am so so so so sorry I thought I answered this] Tinker Toy barely stopped short of trampling both train cars and foal, panting loudly as he dramatically plop his rear on the ground. Thank goodness there were unharm! He could hear his heart beating very loudly in his ears, but it was settling slowly down as he notice the foal staring at him in his own panic. "Oh...sorry, I did not mean to scare you, little one..." He took another deep breath, finally feeling a little less light headed. "I just thought I was done for when this train fell off my cart." He picked up each piece, taking in count that there was a bit of dirt here and there, but not scratches on the newly repainted set. He paused, frowning as he picked the last two, and looked around. "You haven't seen the engine, have you?"

So it was someone's! It was so new and shiny, though, so neat. It would be a nice thing to have, wouldn't it? He eyed the stallion's flank. Hm. Had he made these? Dabber blinked at the adult, brows furrowing in thought.
"N...no?" he said impulsively. The furrow deepened and he frowned. No. Even if he wanted it, he couldn't take it. How to get it out of his bag without the stallion thinking he had intended to steal it, though? How embarrassing. Dabber hung his head and opened up his bag. "Yes..."
Humiliated, he pulled the little engine out and held it up before him. Bah. So much for awesome treasure today!
"I wasn't gonna take it, honest. I thought someone left it behind." Ah, the contradictory statements of children.

Tinker's ears drooped at hearing the no, heart breaking not just cause Barley would be pissed, but actually sad to have lost one of his creations. His ears popped up and eyes widen when the boy said yes. He pulled back his exciment to smile gently as the toy was retrived from the saddle bag. "Well, I appreciate your honesty, it would had been very easy to walk away with it. I mean, I done it with my mother's cookies when I was little and I wasn't nearly as honest as to what happen to them as you were." He took the locomotive and put it away in his own bags, watching the colt. IT really would had been easy to take it, and this colt would had gotten away with it unlike himself and his mother's cookies. "I think such sincerity should be rewarded. I have to make my delivery, but if you could come over to my toy shop tomorrow, I think it would be fair to let you pick a toy of your choosing."

"What, really?" Dabber asked, entirely stunned. Was it really that easy? Was it a trick? He looked around as if someone else might be watching and then settled to smile at the stallion.
"Okay!" he added, nodding happily. Earned treasure was just as good! Was it even better? "Where's your shop?"

"That's right. It's always better to earn something then stealing it. Honesty should be rewarded for what kindness it can be." Tink smiled widely and nodded. "Right, so...." He walked the colt to the nearest park map and gave him simple directions before bidding his goodbye. "I'll be seeing you, kid!" grasshopper pie Sure! I hope you are happy with this rp! and again, sorry for the wait!

Dabber gave a happy grin and waved. "See you tomorrow, Sir!" You should always be polite, Mama said.
