[PLOTPRP] A surprise visitor (Olea x Cadence)

Olea sighed and smile, stepping back from the tapestry that she had just finished with. With prideful nod of approval she ran her hands carefully over it before setting out a sheet on her bed and lay the tapestry out on the bed. With tender hands, she folded first the tapestry, then the protective sheet around it. Taking the precious bundle in her arms, she left her room and moved to ascend the stairs.

The closer she got to her destination, the more and more nervous she got. At one point, she felt like turning around and just going back to her room. And yet, there was was, standing at the door of Princess Cadence and Shining Armor's residence. Her knees shook a little as she knocked on the door, hoping that it would be the nameless prince who answered. Oh why hadn't she asked for his name? How had she forgotten to ask for a name?!

Cadence had been straightening up around her room, having a moment to just be normal and do every day things. A small smile hung upon her lips as she placed some odds and ends into the new basket her son had retrieved for her from Olea. She also couldn't help but still laugh at his tale of what had happened. She hadn't expected they'd end up in the river but neither had been hurt so he hadn't been too concerned. Her boys could use a lot more fun in their life.

She wasn't sure where she went right or wrong. They were good strong boys with good heads on their shoulders but their childlike ways hadn't ever lasted too long. Not like her daughter anyways, ah Faith! Mom's little girl! She'd always love her babies, they were all so perfect....

"Oh!"

Cadence was torn out of her reminiscing by a knock at the door. "Just a moment!" she called, placing the basket down and hurrying to the door to pull it open. She hadn't quite expected to see Olea there at her door, the blue and purple shining figure taking her momentarily off guard. "Olea how lovely to see you! I hope you are doing ok after your adventure yesterday?" she smiled, a bit sheepishly as she playfully teased the other faunie.

Olea felt her world stop for a moment as Cadence's voice drifted from behind the door. She knew that the Princess resided here, but she wasn't expecting her to be in! Panic suddenly overtook her and she seriously considered running away, but then that would be a rude prank to pay to Princess Cadence. So, instead, her ears drooped down in embarrassment as the door was opened and the beautiful Princess Cadence stood before her, radiant as always.

As yesterday's 'adventure' was mentioned, Olea felt heat rise to her cheeks and ears. "G-G-Good afternoon Pr-Pr-Princess! I-I-I-I'm doing ve-very well, thank y-y-you. I'm ve-ve-very sorry to ha-have pulled y-y-your son into that." Her voice nearly squeaked with nerves, and her nervous stutter was obvious. He had told her about the river?! Of course he had! Oh goodness gracious, Cadence was probably so furious with her for that.... why was she here again?

"I b-b-brought y-your so-son something for his tr-tr-troubles. A th-th-thank you... I'm s-s-s-sorry for bo-bo-bothering you." She looked down at the large, wrapped package in her arms, her ears still pressed flat against her head in embarrassment.

Cadence simply smiled, bringing a hand up to her lips to stop a soft laugh. Olea had always been so nervous around her despite Cadence's attempts to get her to relax. "What must I do to get you less nervous around me?" she teased softly before staring down at the parcel the other carried.

Oh, she was bringing Chevy something? So adorable! "How very sweet of you!" the pink princess cooed, an excited sensation bubbling up inside of her. She had always joked with herself and Shining she might have to use her remaining powers of love to ever get her son's interested....but it seemed one was already doing that. Or so she hoped. "Would you like to come in? He'll be here soon so you can give it to him yourself. You came all this way and it has been a while since I got to talk to you last." she added as an excuse to hopefully get Olea to stay and chat a while. She could quickly set some tea to brew and bring out a plate of snacks for the pair of them to munch on.

Olea's shoulders slumped as Cadence teased her. "I-I-I'm sorry, Princess..." Cadence really was always so kind to her, but she just had such a hard time getting herself to calm down around her.

Her ears and cheeks turned a bright enough red to be seen under her fur as complemented her. Being invited in, Olea almost declined, really wanting to get away from this uncomfortable situation. But that would be impolite, especially since it was Cadence who was inviting her in. And it was important to always give heartfelt thank yous in person, and since the faunie she was aiming to give thanks to wasn't here.

"I-I-I suppose I can st-stay for a b-bit." She gave a small, shy smile to Cadence as she stepped into the residence. "M-may I help with any ch-chores?"

Seeming pleased, Cadence stepped aside to allow her in before closing the door and moving to make sure a sitting place was comfortable. "Oh heavens no, what kind of host would I be to invite you in then set you to work!" she laughed, moving aside a pillow or two. "I can get my son's to do that when they get home." she teased with a wink before heading off into the kitchen area.

She returned with a tray that had two cups and a fresh pot of tea and set it down on the table before making herself comfortable. "Please make yourself at home. If you like I can hold onto that until he gets home?" she gestured towards the package Olea had, but of course only if Olea wanted too. Whatever made the poor dear more comfortable. Though she did had to ask.... "I hear you two had quite an adventure yesterday...?" she laughed softly, a bright smile on her face.

Cadence seemed so happy that she was staying, and Olea began to relax a little. She sat herself down as Cadence disappeared into the kitchen area, giving a small smile at the jest of the boys cleaning. She supposed that was the benefit of having more family in the home; more hands for helping.

When the princess came back with the tray full of tea fixings, Olea perked up. "O-oh! P-please allow me to pour!" She hesitated, then offered the package to Cadence so that she could pour cups of the steaming tea for both of them. "Th-thank you... And ye-yes, there was quite a-an adventure... Wh-what has your son to-told you?"

Olea offered a cup of tea to Cadence first, then sipped her own. She enjoyed the slightly bitter taste of the unsweetened tea, and the warm liquid was calming.

"Why thank you!" the pink princess smiled, gently taking the package from Olea and setting it down next to her so that Olea could pour them some tea. She took the cup offered to her gently, bringing it up to her face to take in the warm scent before tipping a little of the warm liquid down her throat. "Well lets see." she smiled, thinking best where to recall the adventure her son had told her. "He had gone down to fetch a basket as I asked... accompanied you out to get supplies.... theeeeeeen decided it was time for a swim." she gave a sheepish grin, trying to hide most of it behind her tea cup. A grin that might have also hinted at something else, but those thought she kept private and to herself. It was only silly wishful mother thinking after all.

The crystal faunie attempted to hide behind her small cup of tea, listening as she described the three points of the 'adventure'. Oh goodness this was so incredibly humiliating and embarrassing. However, as she looked across at Cadence, she could see that the princess was attempting to hide her own grin.

"W-well, it started as I-I.. I quite literally bumped into your son." She blurted out, the nervous stutter giving away to her even more nervous faster speech. "I was already heading out to gather more dyes for my weaving, and for...well..."

Her eyes fell back on the package that she had brought. This had been a project long in the planning, but she had only been able to finish it yesterday after she had gathered more materials. "It'd had been pretty uneventful. I'm sure I bored him by going on into way too much depth about weaving. I was collecting the last plant that I needed, by the river, when the bank gave away and we both went in. Oh, Princess, I am so sorry. I know he was not hurt, but should something have happened to him..."

Her voice faded off as tears sprung up. She felt terrible that she'd put the prince into such danger.

Cadence had been listening with a smile still plastered to her face until Olea suddenly had an outburst of sorts and began to get teary. Getting to her feet, she rushed over to sit herself on the other side of the crystal faunie, hands gently on the other's arm. "Hey hey its ok. My children are strong and tough cookies. Even if something had happened its not your fault." she said softly, hoping to calm the other down before she worked herself up again. This was meant to be a pleasant friendly visit, not a cause for more worry. "Don't worry yourself over it please. I know my son was more concerned for your being over his own, both he and Glistening are the same way." she smiled softly thinking about how caught up in their dreams of grandeur they were. Someone had to pull them out of that eventually, though that wasn't to say she hadn't already been trying. "Its good for them both to have a little unexpected in their lives I think." she giggled softly.

Cadence's touch was gentle and warm, and it brought Olea back from her tears as she felt the comfort coming from the Princess. Gently, she dabbed at her eyes as she listened to the faunie next to her talk about her kids. Her ears flicked a little as she caught one of the names: Glistening. So that was who she wasn't with... but then which was the one that she had been escorted by?

Her cheeks felt warm again as she recalled how concerned Chevalier had been over her well being when they'd fallen in. And a very small smile came over her as she recalled how he had looked with that silly smile and his mane dripping water.

"Ridiculous." She covered her mouth, to try to hide the smile that was growing. This was such a rude thing to say, especially about Princess Cadence's son. "He.... he did look quite ridiculous when he was soaked." She looked up at Cadence, then felt her own giggle escape her.

A loud laugh escaped the pink princess as Olea mentioned how ridiculous Chev looked after having fallen into the river. A mental image sprung to her mind of one of his kid days when he had fell down and gotten himself messy. "Oh I'm quite sure he did! That silly boy, always been big on how he looks." she giggled, leaning closer and putting a hand to her lips as if hiding the secret she was about to tell from the rest of the world. "I think they get that from Shining... certainly didn't come from me." she teased with a wink, leaning back. "No wonder he rushed to his room and took a while to tidy himself up when he came home....ahh Chev." she shook her head playfully but with a smile.

The crystal faunie bubbled over with more laughter, starting to relax a bit more with Cadence beside her. She felt a little flustered as she realized she was gossiping with the princess, but began to relax again as Cadence blamed this behavior on her husband.

The faunie laughed again, then sighed. "He really is that concerned with his looks? I offered him my brush as he waited for me to finish the basket." Chev... short for Chevalier, she assumed, which meant she now knew, thanks to process of elimination, which name went to which alicorn.

A soft smile came over her face as she recalled how he had eased the situation in the river. "He does have a bit of you in him too, though. He is incredibly kind."

"He does like to try to look his best at all times. He thinks it makes him look more professional or something." she laughed softly again. Ah her children were such silly but beautiful characters but now so very grown up. Talking like this was making her miss little hooves running around. "That is very sweet of you Olea. Did he use it? I'm curious." she smiled again, pausing when she heard a knock at the door. "Oh who could that be?" she wondered aloud but received her answer rather quickly as her son came in through the door.


"I'm home for a bit Mother, just finished the rounds with GG." Chev said as he walked in through the door, shutting it gently behind him. He and his brother often 'patrolled' around the tree every day at this time simply for the sake of doing it. More so now since the attack, hoping to be of any help to whoever might need it. He wasn't expecting to see Olea sitting on the couch next to his mother and a look of surprise crossed his face. "Miss Olea! What a nice surprise, you are still feeling well aren't you?" he asked, eyeing the crystal faunie before glancing over at his mother as if she was going to reveal all the answers just by smiling at him.

"I... don't think he did." Olea paused, trying to remember back. She'd been so focused on her weaving that she really couldn't remember. "I honestly wasn't paying very much attention. I was focused on getting that basket done so I wouldn't waste any more of his time." She felt a little bad that she couldn't remember; she should have been paying more attention to her guest!

Her ears perked forward at the knock on the door, and she turned to see who was coming in. She felt her heart stop for a moment in anxiety. "Ah! Pr-pr-prince Chevalier! I-I-I-I'm feeling w-w-w-well!" She jumped to her hooves, and that was when disaster struck. Tea flew everywhere as she accidentally knocked over her cup, which landed, on the tray, broke, and sent everything else into a horrible motion. Olea's hands flew to her mouth, her eyes as wide as dish plates.

Silence seemed to stretch for hours, though it was only a few seconds, before Olea quickly dropped to her knees and began cleaning in a panic. "Oh gracious, I-I-I'm so so-so-sorry!" She kept her head low, feeling tears start to sting in her eyes. How did this happen?!
