Kylin sighed and gathered a few things into a basket. The tree may have been in lockdown, but that didn't mean her and her... daughter? couldn't go on a picnic!

There was a section of the tree that appeared much like a small park. Most of the parents to small faunlets often brought their children there to play - especially on those rainy days - to allow them time to wear themselves out before nap or bed times. Kylinari was especially thankful for that today.

Little Phreia, having only been with her a few weeks (or was it months?) was excited to play today. For some time, Kylin had had a plush doll of a pae sitting on her mantle next to the little picture she had of the little ghost child she encountered at the haunted mansion. Phreia had shown some interest in the doll and often wailed (eerily) in efforts to play with it. It took some restraint on Kylin's part, but she eventually got Phreia to realize that the doll was to stay on the mantle and not to be played with. That was "Mommy's" doll.

However, the appearance of two new dolls into her home - and in Phreia's bed, no doubt - ... well, it complicated things a little. Phreia had been treating them like real children, nearly smothering food into their faces and almost drowning their fabric with water at breakfast that morning. She had only just finally gotten Phreia to understand how to "pretend" to feed and sate their thirsts... but now Phreia was showing some upsetting concern. She knew play time at the "park" was soon and didn't want to "pretend" to take them with her. After all, Mommy's doll always "pretended" to come too. And by that, it always stayed on the mantle while they went to play.

The short of it all - she was showing little to no interest in coming to the park with her today.

Looking to the mantle, Kylin paused.... The doll - still as motionless as the day it came to her - seemed to stair at her with its flat buttoned eyes. With a heavy sigh and soft smile, she picked it up and cradled it like a child would. She grabbed up the basket and walked over to Phreia.

"Alright then, little one. Time to go to the park!" she told her cheerfully and prepared herself for the wailing to start before Phreia would actually register that her dolls didn't have to pretend to come and actually come along.

Phreia had been delighted to see not one, but TWO of her very own dolls - Just like Mommy's! - sleeping beside her that morning. It was almost as if the dream fairy made her wish come true! Now she had a friend her age to play with! Well, sorta her age. At least... she assumed they were her age since they were about her size. She had giggled and squealed with delight at the sight of them that she had actually woken Mommy up with a bit of a scare!

That panicked look on Mommy's face was pretty funny!

Still - Mommy didn't seem too interested in showing her new friends how to eat and drink! So Phreia did it herself! It was only mildly upsetting when her friends didn't really get the concept. It didn't help that they didn't have any mouths. But Mommy showed Phreia how to feed and drink them properly! And now their tummies were full! And now they wanted to play with Phreia!

And Phreia wanted to play with them!

But... If they didn't eat and drink like Phreia. Maybe they didn't play outside like Phreia?

With a sad little 'hoon', Phreia looked up at Mommy's doll on the mantle and remembered that her doll friend was pretty lame. He didn't go anywhere. Or do anything. Or eat. Or sleep. Or drink... Or play. He just sat there.... Watching Phreia... watching Mommy.... Just... watching..........

It made Phreia sad! She could tell that Mommy's doll friend wanted to play too!

But that didn't matter anymore! Phreia had two new doll friends. They could have fun for Mommy's doll friend too! But Phreia still didn't want to go to the park today if it meant leaving her new doll friends behind...

"Alright then, little one. Time to go to the park!"

Phreia sniffled and felt her lip quiver. She didn't want to go now! She had new friends! Phreia didn't want to leave her new friends alone!

A wail formed. One of those eery, softly echoing and drifting wails she always made. The sound of it alone seemed to give one shivers. Before she could form an argument of wailing words to follow, she turned her watery eyes upwards to her Mommy, mouth inhaling to begin her protest when she saw it....

Her mouth snapped shut, lip still quivering. She blinked then rubbed her eyes to rid the water to get a better look. Was that...?!

"Mommy bringin' Mommy's doll friend too?" she asked in a half-sniffle. Then, in almost an instant she jumped up, all tears now gone and excitement back in her face. "Can Phreia bring her doll friends, too?!?!" she nearly squealed then clutched both of her doll friends close!

She didn't wait for an answer before she started marching (or skipping? hard to tell with the smaller tots) towards the door, babbling about the park to her little doll friends about how much fun they were going to have!

User ImagePrincess Astra delicately took a sip of her lavender tea before returning the cup to the little saucer. After a quiet moment of contemplation, she decided on the lemon scone, over the other two and moved it from the serving platter to her own little plate. "Lovely day today, Lady Cubbington. Would you like some more tea?"

Beside the little beige fauny at the "table" sat her companion: a matching plush doll slumped over and leaning against the rock. Romana lifted a coconut shell and pretended to pour an unseen liquid into a little walnut shell that wobbled unbalanced on a leaf upon the rock.

The precocious little child was sitting alone at the rock/table awaiting the arrival of the other guests invited to her tea party. She wore a loose purple pansy garland and scarf. Her companion, a teddypae she named Captain Jack, but who was pretending to be Lady Cubbington for the day, wore a small garland of dandelions and a few colored ribbons tied around the neck and midsection.

Where did she go? she'd done it again! Though she'd told her not to time and time and time again, she did it anyway! Pesky, annoying, pushy...pest! Tiny hooves stomped across the wooden floors of Laisidhiel, out of the alcolve, down the ramp towards the main floor where the bustle of the day was in full swing. The little pegasus' wings twitched with irritation. This was it. This was the last time! She'd had it! She'd give her a piece of her mind this time for sure!

The child dragged a plushie behind her by the 'hand' as she sought out her quarry. She wove between fuzzy and fine haired faun and fauny alike, paying little mind to the adults as her target was much smaller. In fact, her target looked almost like her. Almost. No luck in the cafe. Or the dining hall. Or even the library.

Only when she found the area set aside for the children to play when trapped indoors by weather did she find what she was looking for. Aha! Her face set into a deep frown, she stomped over to the on-going tea party and stopped, hands on her hips and glaring at the other brown pegasus child.

"Romanaaaaaaa, you did it again!" she whined, holding out the plushie so it dangled by one arm. "This one's yours! You took mine AGAIN!" she huffed with obvious irritation. She half tossed the plushie at her sister and crossed her arms. Only now did she look at the original plushie and her frown deepened.

"Whyyyy is Jack covered in flowers?!?"

"Yes. Mommy's Doll-friend is coming too. But!" she started, holding up a finger. "He stays with Mommy. Ok?"

Kylin chuckled and turned, following the little tot towards the park.

It was a quick little walk. Just out the door, down the spiraling walkway to ground level and voila! By now, Phreia knew the way by heart!

Phreia skipped along happily. One doll's little hand in each of hers, dragging them partly behind her as she babbled on and on about all the fun things to do at the park.

"And we can play taaaag! And Hide and Seeeeek! And then later, we can have a picnic with Mommy and Mommy's doll-friend!" she added to her babble stream. She giggled in her weird little echo way when a voice called out through the 'park' and paused her attention on the rising commotion.

"Mommy!" she half-gasped, almost sounding scared out of mind. Kylin had dropped down at her side in concern, kneeling and looking into the little one's eyes in some slight bit of worry.

"They...." she started eerily before her face finally lit up light a beacon. "They have doll-friends too!!"

Before Kylin could react, Phreia darted forward towards the two tots. Her two dolls dragging behind her. But.... she stopped short, suddenly overcome with shyness. She was merely a few feet away, now listening intently to the two girls and their words. Were they mad at each other? Why was one shouting? But they had doll-friends. Everyone with a doll-friend was nice, she thought. So why was one of those girls so mad? The words had yet to register. So for now, she just stayed back and blinked, a doll hanging by the 'hand' from each hand.

Romana fell backwards with the force, an 'oof' escaping as the plush made impact. She just laid there a moment before pushing the doll off and sitting back up. "Rory wanted to stay in today. Something about not wanting to be bothered. I left him there to look after you." Romana was so cavalier as she explained the situation while trying to rearrange the flowers on her head.

"He likes the flowers, and shhhhh! Lady Cubbington doesn't know she's really Captain Jack yet. It was going to be revealed much later after--" She was cut off when movement out of the corner of her field of vision caught her attention. She slowly turned and right away noticed two more dolls that were strikingly similar to the ones the sisters found left by their daddies. "Oh. My. Gosh!"

Romana sprang to her feet and dragged the Rory!doll over towards the new girl and squealed. "RORY! It's your wife!"

"How lovely of you to escort Ms. Pond to the party. I'm Princess Astra and that is my sister Serena. It was so kind of Serena to escort Rory because I had no idea Pond was coming and bringing guests!" She gave a little curtsy and invited the new girl and her escorts to the tea party table. "I will get your cups and saucers. Serena, pour Mrs. Cubbington another cup of tea. But don't let on that you know she's really Captain Jack." She instructed her sister, whispering that last bit so Captain Jack doll couldn't hear.

Quickly, Romana gathered little things she found on the ground to serve as the tea set.

Serena stared at her sister in disbelief. What kind of explanation was that? All this because she took her doll and now she's calling Captain Jack 'Lady Cubbington' instead...and claiming he didn't know he was Jack... Pfft. Grumbling to herself, she muttered, "She might know when she remembers she's allergic and the flowers make her sneeze..."

She was shaken out of her grumpy mood by her sister's squeal. Serena blinked, turning her attention to the new child and her dolls. She was a bit slower than Romana, but she heard the introduction her sister gave and begrudgingly noted she'd at least thanked her for bringing Rory. See? She did things right too. Sometimes.

Her sister's personality, as usual, seemed to dwarf her own. Normally, she'd just quiet down and slip into the background while Romana...err, 'Astra'...took the lead. But, while she sighed and moved to pour more tea for Lady Jack Cubbington, she eyed the new girl with obvious curiosity. While her twin moved to gather the 'tea set' from the ground, she took the opportunity to speak to the new girl, leaning towards her and squinting.

"Hey, what's your name? I've never seen you around before. Your eyes look kinda' funny. Pretty, but funny. Are you a lightning bug?" She looked around before whispering in case anyone was listening. "I won't tell if you are. I like lightning bugs. They're all glowy! And you gots 'ntennas and stuff." It was very tempting to reach up and bat at one of the dangling extremities, but she was pretty sure that even in lightning bug society, that would be considered rude.

Kylin sighed softly and smiled as the other children seemed to suck Phreia right into their little game without any issues. Good. She turned, looking to sit down somewhere and watch for a bit. It was good for Phreia to be making friends! Especially ones more her age.... and ones that were able to actually talk and function on their own.

Phreia blinked between them a moment as she moved almost clueless-like over to the table when gestured.

"Ms. Pond?" she asked, with a tilt of her head and looked at one of her doll-friends. "Oh! You mean, Water!" she exclaimed, holding one of them up.

Her thoughts were derailed at the other speaking to her. She blinked at Serena and instantly grew confused. "A lightning bug?" She thought about this a moment and then shook her head. "No. I don't blink-blink." she spoke almost sadly at that. But she guessed she did have the wings to match. These two had wings, but not like Phreia's...

"Antennas?" she then asked, looking up to her antenna on her head. "Those are my Antlers." she nodded, seeming to firmly believe that her antlers were just different. There have been several times that Mommy had tried to tell her otherwise, but Phreia wouldn't have it.

"OH! My name is Phreia. And this is Water," she started, holding up one of her dolls. "And...." she held up the other doll and seemed to think hard a moment. "...... and Water." She then gave a bit of a sheepish grin. It was obvious she gave little thought on what to name her doll-friends. "They woke up with me this morning." she nodded matter-of-factly.
