Harmony listened, ears perked forward and honed in on the Chief's booming voice and the sharp barks of protest from the offender. Things turned sour quickly, and she allowed a soft but sharp gasp to escape her lips when the Chief ruled that no outside tree contact would be made until further notice.

She suppressed her tears for the moment and wrapped an arm around Sonata, pulling her close into a comforting hug. It'd be a long time until they'd get to see their father or grandfather again. And how long would it be until their father came looking for them?! She knew mother had told him she was unsure when they'd return. Trips to the tree were often sporadic and never lasted more than a few days... but what if they were here for months?! With all that's been happening, how long until he tries to check on them. And when he does.

Biting her lip, she turned, brushing her sister's hair back. Sonata would note that as something Harmony only did when she was nervous or scared.

"C'mon little sis,
Let us go...
Mom will be along
soon, you know..."

Her voice trembled as she spoke, but her composure remained strong. Her back was straight and her head held high.

"No matter what happens
we must remain strong,
and keep in mind that
we've done nothing wrong.

In time we can hope
that the Chief will one day see
He can't lock 'his' in forever
and will set us all free..."

She scooped up Sonata's hand unaware that while she was distracted by her own thoughts and emotions, her own ability was freely flowing, weaving her own emotions through her words. Worry, sorrow, fear... Uncertainty of what might happen to them.... Thankfully, for Sonata, she was related so the effects were not quite as aggressive, but still recognizable.

Mo realized that he had been holding his breath. He exhaled finally. There was going to be a lot of damage control to be done after this event. Even more so with his own family. Twinkletoes will have to be restricted to the branches with no exceptions, and Wild Moon and Moony will have to stay inside... to that idea, he sighed heavily.

"No more late night 'howl runs'..." he grumbled in his thoughts. He actually enjoyed those runs, the three - sometimes four - of them all running together through the trees in their shifted forms... It was a small price to pay.

Twinkletoes was thankful her father had helped to muffle all the distractions around them. She could still hear everything being said... Even feel the tension, smell the fear and confusion and see the distress on the faces all around them.

She chanced a quick look to Faroth. A small twinge of regret washed over her as he spoke. He spoke so fondly of those Blood Pae. Did he love one of them or something? And what of the Princess Celestia? Did he not care about her and the children he'd helped her create? Even if he held the answers to that question, he still left the tree against the Chief's ruling.

That still did little to calm her nerves. She did this. She was the one to see him sneak off. She was the one who followed him. She was the one to see him talking with Blood Pae, and in the end She was the real reason he had been caught once he returned to begin with.

With all that riding on her conscience... adding him being locked up...

She trembled then, her knees buckling and nearly bringing her to her knees. She was even more thankful her father was holding her so close. He was able to hold her up with ease.

Mo wasn't oblivious to Twinkletoes nearly collapsing in his arms. Blinking in slight worry, he looked down at her, holding her up until she could gather her footing and stand back up. She shivered too... Was she crying?

Perhaps her being here to witness was a bad idea. He couldn't imagine how bombarded with everything her senses must be. All of these Faun in one cluster all breathing, whispering, shuffling on their hooves...

He sympathized silently and rubbed her arm in hopes to comfort her.

Tears flooded her eyes. She never meant for anyone to really get hurt or separated from paeple they cared about. And now the whole tree was going to suffer too.

She strongly believed that - Faroth's ignorance of the rules aside - that she was the true reason everyone else was now under much harder and strict rules than before. That she was the reason Rais was teetering on the edge of his temper...

She shivered again.

Mo sighed softly as the guards started leading Faroth towards the roots. That's when he felt it again...

He was now concerned. Twice now she shivered. He tilted his head, hand calmly but firmly grabbing her shoulder.

"Twinkle... are you alright?" he asked as calmly as he could.

She couldn't answer... not verbally anyways... she shook her head then growled, shoving her father back and taking wing.

"Twinkle?" Mo half asked, half demanded an answer.

None came.

She turned in the air, ready to bolt out the doors, but remembered the new rule at the last second. She couldn't leave out the door. Others would start to ask questions about her own loyalty!

Her dive towards the door, pulled up instantly and she followed the hallowed center up as high as it would allow before slipping out one of the upper garden doors to the branches above.

She needed time to think. She needed time ask herself if it was really worth it to turn Faroth in...

Mo's brow furrowed. He wanted to go after her, but she was shaking. Trembling. .... Crying... Clearly her actions were tearing her up. And - having been a woman for a short time - Mo recognized that action as something best left alone... for a short while anyways. She wanted to be alone for a bit, think things over... calm down... He'd go looking for her later once everything here was settled...

He sighed deeply and turned to Rais.

"She won't leave the tree..." he assured Rais in a half-whisper, though worry etched along his words. "She just needs some quiet air..."

In all that was happening, the hushed whispers and the hesitant looks... Faelon had been standing behind his older brother, quietly and impatiently waiting for a cue as to what to do. Everything seemed to be escalating, the chieftain's words growing louder and louder until it all seemed to explode into a single phrase.

"Silence."

There had been silence, save for the rumbling in the ground that made its way through Faelon's hooves. Ears folding down, thoughts escaping from his mind, he felt his hands let go of his family and his little leg propel him forward through the crowd. Few, if any, seemed to pay the golden child any heed as he moved. He didn't know what he was doing, why he was doing it, or what he would do next, only that he had to see what was wrong. Rash, like his father, the boy was.

His hooves were taking him past the pub...

His hooves were taking him beyond the group of gossiping faunies...

His hooves were taking him below his cousin until he came to brush against the legs of his uncle Mo. There he stopped, eyes widening and his breath all but catching in his throat. What were they doing to his papa; where were they going?! Why wasn't anyfaun stopping them?! He tried, unsuccessfully, to process what was happening. It was probably this that kept him from reacting immediately and running forward to 'help.'

Mo frowned as he let Twinkletoes go for now. He hated the idea of letting her work this out by herself, but he knew she merely needed a little time alone...

Something darted into his sights and he watched the small golden blur of one of Faroth's children come into the center of the crowd. There was a brief second he caught his own breath into his throat. Then the parental instincts kicked in and he quickly scooped up Faelon. With his ears back, he held the child to his chest and kept his back to Faroth in efforts to shield the child from seeing his father be escorted away.

"C'mon kiddo... you don't need to be seeing this..." he offered, loud enough for Faroth to hopefully hear. No child deserved to see their parent in any such situation. Especially to ones so young and impressionable. Granted, it could easily teach them the valuable lesson that even their parents are subject to the laws of the Circle. However, it could also stir up resentment for those they live with. Stir awake the seed of hate and anger towards their own people if not handled delicately.

He quickly caught sight of Ranuin through the crowd - at least his eyes - and his face fell stern, but also sympathetic. He'd have to talk to that boy when he could. Preferably sooner rather than later... but he also felt the need to stick near Rais a little longer....

His gaze shifted, looking towards the Chief.

"Brother... if you don't mind..." he started in a softer tone. "I'd like to bring the little ones to their mother and explain the situation..." he offered, hoping to take one worrisome thing off Rais' to-do list of the day. "And hopefully, to also take a moment to talk one on one with the oldest." he then added. If anything, he wanted to make sure Ranuin wouldn't make the same mistake as his father... much less bring his daughter or the rest of his family into it, for that matter. On that note, he supposed a little chat with Moony wouldn't hurt either...

Aloe normally would have giggled at Miss Fluttershy's ways. Seriously... a bear? It wasn't unheard of... still a bit surreal to see, however.

She nodded sadly to Fluttershy as she mentioned the furred one's original disposition. "Yes. He did alvays seem very kind. Hardly ze type to cauzing any zorts of mischief." Aloe whispered. She called it her gossip tone. She'd used it several times in the spa back in equestria... though more often than not, she used it on Rarity rather than Fluttershy. Fluttershy rarely gossiped. She was far too kind and quiet to most of the time.

"I dunno vhat he did though..." she trailed, her eyes returning to the scene unfolding.

"Ze chief though...."
she started again, her usual serious tone returning, even if she was keeping true to her gossip voice and tone. "He needz a massage...."

Everfree watched with silent distress. He heard Twilight but didn't say anything until the sentence had been made. That was when he lowered he head to speak lowly as close to her ear as he could. Being overheard wouldn't be a safe place to be, "A leader that inspires fear instead of confidence is no longer a leader." As brown eyes fell on Rais, he didn't fear but also didn't have any confidence. "That could be Fluttershy, Princess Luna or Princess Celestia." Twilight didn't often leave the tree as far as he knew, seemed she was the safest out of all of them.

He looked at Fluttershy again, then to the younger faunie. Those gentle of heart would suffer the most. When did this end? Did the Council approve or was this Rais's decision only?

With a heavy sigh he fixed his posture but didn't yet trust to take his eyes off the Chief. The Faun being punished was one he didn't know well but seemed to recall at an event. The faun was friendly with Celestia, possibly even her special somefauny. If that were the true way of things, this was going to hurt her. For the Princesses, he'd step in.

Olea felt bad for Fluttershy as the Pegasus tried to give a smile. She could understand the feeling of wanting to be anywhere but there at the moment.

"Honestly? I don't know him personally. I was hoping that I was going to be able to get some clarification on what was going on. The accusation is terrible, but I'm sure that it wasn't made without careful investigation." It couldn't have been, that was just madness.

Her ears perked up at the mention of Princess Celestia, and a confused look came over her face. She had heard that there was a suitor for the Princess... was this speckled faun him? If so, this was going to be a very tender topic.

Movement from the central activity caught her attention, and she turned her head to watch. She felt bad for Faroth, but as soon as he spoke out about Laisidhiel the way he did, she placed her hands over her mouth to stifle a gasp. Her eyes grew wide and she took a step back involuntarily as Rais ordered the faun away.

Fluttershy tilted her head at Aloe, listening to the pink spa sister speak. She seemed more in check about this than she was. How she had such nerves like this the pegasus would never know. Her's threatened to come right out of her several times and it was all she could do to keep herself in check.

'O--oh... I think the Chief is last of my worries...." she squeaked softly into her hands, but honestly. Yes he was scary, yes he was mad, heck for all she knew he probably could use a massage but he wasn't the one on trial here. That and the crowed was growing by the minute. She was certain she had caught a flash of Twilight's purple and the kind Alicorn Everfree who had already done much for her. Who next would be on trial like this?

Turning back towards the crystal faunie, she nodded softly in agreement. "Its still so hard to believe....." she stopped dead in her words as the chief ordered him to be taken away. Her hands shot to her mouth just like Olea's did, letting out a sharp gasp. It was then she noticed hurried movement and the small golden son of Celestia. Small tears welled up at the corner of her eyes. "Whatever will those poor boys and Princess Celestia do?! They need their father!" she squeaked more, turning to grab a handful of bear fuzz and shove her face in it in attempts to hide.

As numbing as the scene had been, being lifted by his uncle had a strangely sobering effect. Blinking, the sensation rushed into him all at once as he was turned away, an instinctual panic setting in. "Down..." he mumbled, pushing (in vain) against Mo's chest to try and release the grip. When this failed, he resorted in the way typical of a young child, but highly unusual for him.

He began throwing a tantrum.

"Lemme down 'ncle Mo!" the boy said with a louder volume, clearly distressed, as his little legs and arms pushed and kicked to try and break out of Mo's arms. Nothing so difficult or forceful enough to be painful to manage, given the boy rarely acted in this manner, but certainly plenty to be an annoyance and to bring attention to himself. After all, as far as he understood the situation given the yelling and remaining tension in the room, his papa was being taken away.

When it became clear that he wasn't going to make it to the ground by acting like that, he instead tried to climb up and out of Mo's arms in an, again, more irritating than effective manner. Hooves don't exactly grip well. Once he'd managed to get to a position to see past Mo, he reached forward, practically clawing the air as if it might pull him out of his uncle's grip. "Papa?!" Given the position, were it not for Mo, Faelon would have probably gone toppling head-over-hoof and right onto the ground. "'ncle Mo! We gotta do som'thin'. Cheif'an Rais..." he'd just noticed the other figure when Mo addressed him. "Help me! Lemme down... They're takin' daddy!"

Sona looked relieved as her sister took her power mishap in stride. She nodded excitedly as the other seemed to understand. She was thankful for her twin- someone that she didn't always need to work out a gesture or some form of communication for her to get her. It made it so easy on Sona to just be at times. She leaned into her sister's touch with a grateful look on her face. She always knew the right words- the way she spoke always so comforting. The thought of younger days and nursery rhymes. She loved it.

She took her post next to her sister, peeking over her shoulder into the gathering. She chewed nervously on her lower lip as she listened and watched. She could feel the energy in the room swallowing her up. Most seemed unified in the fear of possible treason, but some were looking a bit wary. Her eyes landed on her mom who was watching on with a different look on her face than what they had left her with. Her head was held high and watched on without emotion, as if she was just taking it all in. Sona's heart was so heavy for her. This was her home away from home. This is where her people had found a sanctuary. It wasn't as though she loved their father out of spite for her people, but they had so much hate in their hearts...

Sona clung to her sister, her breaths coming in heavy from tears she was trying to hold back. She didn't want to become a sobbing mess here, but so much of their lives were now on the rocks. When would they be able to leave? When would she see her family back home? What would she and Harmony do here? Stay hidden in their room till it all blew over? Guess better there than in the jail... But wasn't that just the same?

Sona looked to her sister, quickly brushing the tears away and nodding firmly at her words. She was right. They didn't know what was in store so no use in crying and worrying over it now. She let her hand be captured into the other's hand feeling such a rush of emotions she couldn't explain. She gripped her hand tightly taking strength from her sister. Sometimes she was so jealous of how strong she could be... she was so thankful she could lean on her for it.

She led her sister away from the hate and whispers of treason. As they disappeared into the tree it felt like she could breathe again. Soon they made it to their room where they shut themselves in. Sona's heart was still heavy, but at least they were as safe as they could be. She released her sister's hand and slumped against the door. She tilted her head back and stared at the ceiling.

The tears threatened to spill over again, 'Laisidhiel, please protect us...'

Ranuin was having trouble processing what he was seeing as well. But a sudden absence of presence followed by a golden blur shook him out of his stupor. "Faelon! No!" he hissed under his breath, but the boy was already gone. He grabbed hold of Haldir by reflex before he could run off too, but the boy was still clinging to his leg. Hurriedly, Ranuin lifted his little brother onto his hip before setting off after the other one, hopefully before he got them in any further trouble.

Hooves shuffling dejectedly, Faroth had resigned himself to the confines below when a sound reached him from the commotion unfolding behind him. Faelon's voice. No...he didn't need to see this... He turned back, looking over his shoulder towards the Chief's Adviser and his heart wrenched at the sight of the panicked child trying desperately to get to him. He couldn't do nothing. Even if it hurt him worse, maybe it would make things better for the boy...

Shaking the guard's from his arms, he hurriedly tried to explain, "He doesn't understand. Please, just let me talk to him for a minute."

Glowering between the prisoner and the child pitching a fit, Rais seemed to consider this for a moment, as well as Mo's words before waving his hand dismissively to the guards. To Faroth, he growled, "Keep it brief." He'd be keeping close as well to listen.

Momentarily relieved, Faroth stepped away from the guards once freed, moving towards the Chief's Adviser and his struggling son. "Hey...calm down, buddy, it's alright...shhh shhh...it's alright," he soothed, adopting a smile as best he could to calm the boy. His gaze flickered towards Mo for a second, then back to focus on his son. "Faelon...look at me, okay?" He couldn't reach for the boy, due to the restraints holding his arms back, but he leaned up and forward to touch his forehead to Faelon's when he started to calm. He ignored any awkwardness at having the Adviser a part of this 'moment', focusing solely on his child. "Listen, buddy. Daddy has to go away for a while. I don't know how long, but I need you to do something very important for me, 'k? I need you to be good for Mommy while I'm gone. You got it? You can do that?" He moved his cheek to Faelon's, the best attempt at a hug he could offer right now. "That's a good boy. Take care of Mommy and your brother." He kissed his son's cheek before taking a couple steps backwards. He hesitated, holding the smile until he returned to the guards, then turned away and allowed it to drop again. He shot a sideways grateful glance to Rais, murmuring, "...thank you."

The Chieftain watched on quietly, reading nothing 'off' about the exchange between father and son. He wasn't heartless. Far from it. But, he had many concerns and lives resting on his shoulders. Rules were created for a reason, usually to keep those he cared for safe. In seasons past, those he watched over had become more and more lax in following those rules, most disregarding them completely to do what they wished. And usually some misfortune followed. With the consequences potentially far more severe, he could tolerate disobedience no longer. He may seem harsh now, but in the long run, they would appreciate it for keeping them safe. It was a shame that the misfortune fell to Faroth being an example, but the boy had a history of shrugging off rules. It was never meant to play out like this though.

"This should never have been handled in such a public manner." He said evenly. It was the only fault he would acknowledge. "I apologize for that, but my judgment still stands. Until enough information can be attained and we are assured of no more security threats, you will be held for questioning."

He was still going below...but the change in tone, well...it was something. Lifting his eyes from the floor, ears still laid flat, Faroth nodded solemnly. "Yes, sir." There really wasn't anything else to say. He'd made a mistake and now he was paying the price. With little else to say, the grey dappled Faun was led away and down to his new home in the Root Cellar.

Rais watched the guards go, turning back to Mo after they were gone. He noted that Faroth's oldest son, the lupine one, had arrived holding the other light-colored brother. He nodded for Mo to hand off the child to his brother if he wished, then addressed him. "Go ahead. There's nothing more to do here. At least...if you could handle that for me...?" He waited for affirmation before moving to address the gathered Faun.

So much damage control to do.

Clearing his throat, he addressed the angry and panicked faces that turned his way. "I apologize for the disruption this evening. This was meant to be a quiet matter. Not a public one. Not intended to foster fear, hatred, or confusion. That was not my intention and I apologize if tempers got heated. Please, be assured that you are all my first and foremost concern. We will get to the bottom of this matter as well as any future issues that arise. Please, be at peace this evening. Earth bless." Moving to exchange a glance with Mo, he clasped his shoulder in passing, then moved on.

((This is the end of the RP re: interactions with Faroth and Chieftain Rais. Please feel free to continue your own interactions with each other, but the RP can be considered complete at this point for those who would like to log it.))

Belvah stood, silently watching her ex-husband handle the situation. He was just as talented at it as ever, but she couldn't believe how many of the faun were reacting so poorly to this. How many seasons had the faun been acting on their own without a leader? She shook her head, knowing she'd have to leave almost immediately. She was pushing her luck.

But then, there was a halfway familiar pink face, calling her name no less. Green eyes blinked, attempting to place a name to the face, having thrown most of her memories of the faun to the back of her mind while she cared for Valere.

"Kishi?" Oh! There it was. The silvery fauness smiled, shifting Valere in her arms a little to gain a free arm. She waved a little, acknowledging that she'd heard the other calling to her. But there was still listening to be done, faun were still, understandably, freaking out a little at the rules being enforced. She held up a finger to ask for a little time, not really wanting to interupt her ex and Faroth with what she hoped to be a happy reunion. She wanted to hear all of it.

"It's nice to see you again." Even if it was an incredibly awkward time to greet any faun. The sight of Faroth's children was tearing at her heart. She'd honestly wished it hadn't had to occur like that, or that she'd mentally sided with Rais. It didn't mean she was going to stop her own treachary though. Rais didn't need to know about Valere. She didn't want him to know. With a wince, she realized he likely had found out by her simply coming to the tree. How foolish could she have been? "I'm sorry it had to be under such awkward circumstances though..." She tried not to let her inner turmoil be voiced. Earth! How could she had forgotten Rais was connected to the earth?

The little faun's voice quieted and his movements softened as his father approached and spoke. His eyes followed Faroth's to Mo's and back, a single blink occurring in the meantime, before the tantrum finished as quickly as it had begun. His ears folded down and his eyes closed at his dad's touch, his soft fur brushing against his forehead.

He liked this warmth... It always made him feel safe.

He didn't like the idea of his daddy going away for even a small, set period of time; an unspecified length was even worse. His reaction was obvious even without words; his body tensing and eyebrows scrunching together. "Sumthin' important...?" he mused quietly. The tension left Faelon's body and be pouted in a typical, overly-exaggerated manner with his cheeks puffed out. "I'm always good! Wellspring is the meanie-face!" Cheeks deflating, his eyes opened and he laughed lightly.

"Do you hafta go away? Can I co--..." the boy's words cut off and his eye squinted as Faroth rubbed his cheek and he tried, unsuccessfully, so show a dislike of the motion. "Daaaaaaady~!" he whined, rubbing his cheek and laughing. Moving his arms to hold onto Mo's, he nodded as he watched him move back.

"I will."

He scarcely moved or reacted to anything further until Faroth was out of sight. At that, he looked up to the Cheiftain, Mo, and then Ranuin.... who he had forgotten was supposed to be watching him. Ooops... He was going to be in so much trouble...
