lols at how crappy this is. i didnt know what 2 putttt but oh well. take ur time!

Since Adam was only sixteen, he knew only two things; survival, and zombies. Now being 20 years old, he was not only very reliable, but a knowledgeable huntsman. Four years ago, the first 'zombie' case cropped up in the United States. The Government didn't really like to use the 'z-word' so they improvised. They used other terms like 'infected' or 'diseased' to dance around the fact that everything had gone to s**t. Adam was immediately abandoned by his parents, being left behind with a barely loaded pistol and a can of Ranch Style beans. Along with his parents went his little sister, only a year old, so he couldn't really blame them for wanting to protect her instead of him.

The first few weeks of the 'apocalypse', as some called it, were tough. Everyone was going batshit crazy, jumping at the slightest sound, raiding as many stores as they could, etc. Everyone was fending for themselves or for family, so Adam had to find other means of food. Embarrassingly enough, Adam had his share of Boy-Scout badges, so he was able to catch small animals, like rabbits and fish. Creating a fire was't a hassle either, but finding unoccupied shelter was. He slept in trees, for the most part, but was then able to find an abandoned shack out by what used to be northern Texas. It wasn't big, and it wasn't very well protected. It had a door that locked, but it was easy to bust it down. He lived the next 2 years of his life in constant fear of the unknown.

At the age of eighteen, he had constructed a whole entire colony of people and buildings. His fortress was almost the size of 2/4 of a town, with a population of almost 100 people. They were mostly lost teenagers he found while going on supply runs. A few of them were quite older than him, but they followed his every order.

Two years later, the colony remained the same, only with a few stragglers added to the population. Everyone was fed breakfast lunch and dinner at their respective times, and were protected by a selected few that went on supply runs and were trained with the artillery they found along the way.

Every month Adam would ask for volunteers for the next supply run, getting at least 10-20 volunteers each round. Currently, he was getting ready for the next run that was shortly to come, in only a matter of days. He already had enough volunteers, so now he was currently putting together small bags of first aid, and other things needed for such a dangerous task.

Ever since the world had gone to s**t, all Candice had known was how to fight, kill and run from the infected. It had been three years since the world wide apocalypse had started, and she'd been out on her own for as long as she could remember. The girl had learned things she never even thought she ever would. She knew how to start fires, track and hunt animals. She even learned how to safely navigate her way in and out of any buildings she thought would have something valuable. She didn't have much, just the clothes on her back, the weapons in her bag, and one single spare set of clothes. When the first out break happened, Candice had been living on her own. Her and her parents never got along well. She had a roommate, whom she had no idea if they'd lived or not, but that wasn't something she could afford to think about. Candice didn't believe anyone when they said there was going to be an apocalypse the first time. She thought it was just another ebola outbreak gone wrong. She'd gone on with her life, someone had to take responsibility and pay the rent and bills. When the second outbreak hit her hometown, Candice barely made it out alive.

She'd learned the hard way how to deal with her emotions, and after the year's she been out here, she'd learned how to shut them off completely, numbing herself inside out. She had no idea if her parents and siblings were alive. She hoped that they were, and if they weren't, she prayed they'd been killed and hadn't had to suffer. Living in the world as it was today, no one was safe and absolutely no one could be trusted. She hadn't seen another person for almost six months now, and even thought the void was starting to weigh on her, she knew it was safer to deal with the insanity of being alone, than risk having something happen to her again. The blondes experience with other humans had gone horribly wrong. She'd been rubbed, tricked, used and nearly killed. It was what had made her so hard and cold on the inside. She didn't need anyone to help her, not if they planned on being the reason she turned or died. The hardest part about having someone travel with her was when they died.. By her hands. It had happened a few times, and every time Candice was left with a guilt that weighed her down. She had reason to kill them of course, but the fact that they had been a person had made it all so much harder for her conscience to forgive her.

Looking around the wooded area, Candice's ears where listening to the sounds around her. She knew that loud sounds often attracted the infected that could walk. She called them walkers, because they weren't that fast and for the obvious reason, they could walk. She rarely used her gun, she had yet to find a silencer for the sniper she had, and even though her hand gun had one, she knew it was better to preserve bullets. She girl was up on a small hill and just below was her dinner. If she wasn't in her current situation, she would have ached for the small rabbit that had decided to run past her earlier. She'd never eaten rabbit, but by the savage way her stomach had been growling at her all day, food was food. Positioning herself flat against the ground, she pulled the snipper close and looked through the telescope. Closing one eye, she found the rabbit and aimed for it's head. Taking in a deep breath, she pulled the trigger and watched at a small circle of red showed, right i between the rabbits eyes as it hit the ground. Getting up, she shook her head to get the light ringing sound out of her ears. Walking over, Candice lifted the rabbit and put it in the cloth bag. She knew that the sound of the snipper was sure to attract nearby unwanted attention. She took off at a jog, knowing soon she'd be surrounded by a few walkers.

I should make my way around and head back to the convenience store I saw before the rabbit... There might be something in there that could help... she thought to herself. Once she was far enough, she slowed to a walk and made her way around, heading back where she'd come from. Finding the strip of road where she'd come across her meal, she put a hand over her eyes to give them shade from the burning sun, looking off into the distance at the convenience store. Letting her had drop back to her side, she took a sip of water from her now empty cantine and headed for the store. Before she headed inside, she looked around the front and surveyed the area. She would need to look for exits and see if there were any infected behind before she decided to take this risk. There's a few exits off to the side... And possibly one in the back... her eyes scanning the lot. She saw a few walkers by the exit to her left, they seemed to be busy ripping a deer into shreds. That would keep the busy for a bit, but if she dared to make too much noise, she be in some pretty deep trouble. She looked away as the horde made it's way past the animals thick skin and pulled out her pistol as she walked inside the store.

                                                                        -CrossroadsQueen-

A slight knock was heard, Adam turning to open the door. In walked one of Adam's close friends, who was the first to meet Adam, and also helped create the fortress. His name was Alek and he was average, at best. He became overwhelmed at the sight of blood, so Adam made sure he stayed home most of the time. What he lacked in strength, he made up in medical knowledge, being a pharmacist before things turned for the worst. Alek separated pills and medicines for those who needed them, along with inhalers and athletic tape for those who pulled muscles. He was determined to put his doctorates degree to good use, because he didn't pay a s**t ton of money for no reason.

"Hey Alek. Got any news?" Adam asked, sealing a first aid kit firmly shut. Alek took a seat across Adam, folding his hands in front of him.

"Well, on the last supply run, you know how we pulled in those crates of food?" Alek mumbled, his fingers rubbing against the wood of the desk.

                                                                        Adam nodded,
                                                                        "Yeah, why?"

Alek sighed, "Well, the food inside was spoiled. The crew that brought it in must have forgotten to check it..."

Adam looked up at his friend, processing information? What? Everyone knew that whoever had haulage duty had to check the supplies before bringing them in. Adam groaned, looking down at the bag he was currently working on.

"s**t man, do you know how tight we are on food without all this stuff happening already?" Adam sighed, pulling a chair up to the other side of the desk so he could sit. He leaned back, running his hands through his hair. Alek stayed quiet, drumming his fingers on his lap. He eventually spoke up, "We also uh... need some more inhalers for the little girl who has asthma..."

There was no choice but to go on an emergency supply run. The food could possibly wait a little longer until the full fledged supply run, but medical supplies were needed. Adam sighed, running his hands down his face. He looked around his office. This place was doing so well, he couldn't just let it crash and burn now. He had worked so hard to get where he was.

"I guess I'll go get her that inhaler then..." Adam mumbled, slinging a bag over his shoulders. Alek stood up, "You goin' alone?"

                                                                        Adam laughed,
"Not unless you wanna come with me."

Alek abruptly shook his head, "Nah, I'll pass."

Adam scoffed, turning and exited his office. It was bright outside, with only a few clouds. It wasn't hot but it wasn't cold, which was perfect weather for a supply run. Bag over his shoulders, Adam continued through his 'city'.

It was a few buildings that used to be stores, lined up against each other. The tallest buildings were where the citizens slept, the smaller buildings held for recreation or mini hospitals. It wasn't much, but it was enough. Reaching the far end of the fortress, Adam looked up at the man in the watchtower, signaling for him to open the gates.

After a few seconds, the metal gates clanked, slowly coming apart. They didn't make too much noise, but a few walkers did end up being attracted by the sound, which were quickly wiped off by a team of marksmen nestled on top of the large walls surrounding the fortress. On his way out, he picked up a pistol with a suppressor at the end, along with a MP5K that he hung around his shoulders. This one didn't have a suppressor, so he only used it when things got really hairy.

Adam turned to wave at the group of men that watched over the entrance, telling them that he would definitely be back in one piece.

Immediately exiting the fortress was a dense forest that stretched for a few meters. Beyond that was a strip of stores where Adam usually made his way to. The stores were still untouched, mainly because they were hidden from view, due to mother nature taking back the earth once the humans had left it. It was large, taking many trips to and fro to get all of the supplies, and they still hadn't even got 1/4 of what was there in total.

Slowly easing his way through the forest, Adam was able to maneuver his way through plenty of sticky situations. He was stomping past a hoard of walkers without even realizing it until one of the made a gurgling sound as it ate one of its own. He tiptoed away from them as fast as he could without setting them off.

After what seemed like an eternity, he finally reached the dirt road that let to the strip of stores. Only one of them had a pharmacy inside, Adam running as fast and as quiet as he could to it. He opened the door forcefully, pistol in both hands, ready to shoot. He walked quietly through the isle that led to the pharmacy. He figured he should just find what he needed and get the hell out of there, no time to check every single nook and cranny. He opened the door to the pharmacy, immediately looking through the cabinets that held the many types of medicine.

Stepping inside after wedging the door open, Candice had gotten a better picture of what exactly was inside. She was shocked to see that this place was almost untouched. There was some spoiled food, but a good amount of it was good and ripe for the taking. Unable to stop herself, she headed for the first chocolate bar she could find. Ripping the wrapper off in a split second, and devoured the bar faster then she'd ever done. She looked at the empty wrapper and then down at her stomach, it growled even more irritated at her, clearly telling her it was tired of waiting. She stuffed her bag with as many as she could, knowing these babies were so rare. She looked around, she needed water. As she neared the back, where she assumed the water would be, she almost cried at what she saw. Awww come on!... Why?!... she thought as her eyes glued to the scene before her. A small group of walkers were scattered, literally like a wall blocking her only access to the water. Frustration and sadness gripped at her insides. All the wanted was some water and there was a wall of danger.

Checking the rounds left in her revolving pistol, she cursed quietly. She wasn't good for reloading and shooting all the walkers in there just for some water. With a sigh of defeat, she turned and grabbed a few canned foods and moved on. She checked around for anything that could help start a fire. She found matches and some newspapers. As she went a little deeper into the store, she noticed that some of the dust on the shelves were lighter in some places. Someone's been here... she thought to herself. Her eyes moved tot he floor, she could see a few faint scuff marks. Bending down, she looked from the floor to the shelf and looked closely. The dust looked a few days old, whatever had been taken wasn't too big, but she knew that it was people, not infected. She stood and came face to face with a walker. Nearly falling backwards, Candice moved away and reached for her knife. Without hesitating, she drove it into the walkers head and removed it, slowly placing the body on the ground.

Getting to her feet quickly, she wasted no time in heading towards the exit. She slipped out and scanned the lot. She could hear the walkers from earlier. Their moaning and the shuffle of their feet as more approached. But before she could leave, a flicker of movement passed her vision. Candice turned to see someone rush into another building. She blinked and moved towards the tree for cover. It was some sort of drugstore or something. She had no intention of helping this unknown figure. But the walkers had finished their meal and for some reason were headed for the drugstore. She knew she shouldn't care, whoever was in there should be able to take care of themselves. Get in.... Get out.. No need to get involved.. Just... she thought as she stepped out of the trees. She aimed and took down the walkers, the only sound her was the soft, puft the her revolver made as the bullets passed through the suppressor on the gun. When the bodies dropped, making a faint thump, she moved to replace the gun in it's holster attached to the waist band of her jeans. Conscience clean... she thought to herself.
