After a problem with over population the government came up with a system that limits a persons lifespan to only 19 years. This goes into effect when you turn 18 and are considered an adult. On your 18th birthday you get a timer installed on your arm which starts to tick away starting at 365 days. People have gone insane and the world has turned into nothing but chaos. Some people have gotten their hands on devices that allow you to steal time from other peoples timers expanding your life and shortening theirs and this is exactly what Joel got his hands on. Joel is a rare teenager running through the world with a device people call "an amplifier". Joel frantically fights off people on a daily basis in order to keep the device. He eventually meets a girl named ___________ and they team up them against the rest of the world who wants the device including the government. The only problem is ______________ doesn't have much time on her clock and Joel is afraid to share his.

Having a constant reminder of how little your life meant to the government and how little time you had left wasn't living. It felt more like someone had taken everything that meant you were living and stabbed you in the arm with it, forcing you to were the mar of your death on your sleeve. It was disgusting and it was something that Candice Swanson could never understand. When the girl had turn eighteen half a year ago, she'd been taken and they'd placed something inside her that would kill her on her nineteenth birthday. Which would have been as bad if she didn't have little green lights on her arm, indicating the amount of time the girl had left before she was officially going from this world. How could humans be so cruel?... she thought to herself as she lay in her bed, starring up at the ceiling, seeing the small amount of light dancing around. Candice was a simple girl, she'd lived her life with her family and she never complained about anything, until she'd turned eighteen. With a sigh, she turned her head and lifted her arm. Once three sixty-five... Now one eighty-two.... Half a year.... That's all you've got Swans.... she thought to herself as she pushed down on her elbows and rose to sit on her bed, the blankets pooling around her waist in ripples.

Looking at the clock on her bedside table with a certain amount of irony, she tried not to think about how much she'd learned to hate both time and the objects that could tell you it. "Better get going..." she thought to herself as she rose from her bed, her boxer's lose around her hips and her tank top leaving her arms bare, tiny goose bumps forming as the skin became cold. She grabbed her sweater and threw it on before she turned to make her bed, fixing and fluffing pillows before she covered them up with the blankets. Looking out the small, dirty window at the dirt streets, she watched as children played and laughed, without a care in the world. She envied them. Slipping some pants on, she walked out of the bare room, holding nothing but a plain dresser, a plain bed, and a plain bedside table with nothing but a picture of what was once her family. She didn't bother making herself breakfast, she knew she mostly likely wouldn't be able to keep it down after her thoughts from earlier. She slipped out of her small, rundown house and made her way to the small grocery shop that was right on the corner of the street. She walked in and pulled on her apron before heading to the cash register to start her day.
