He was alone in his thoughts, wandering with no particular destination in mind. It was the solitude he enjoyed, the silence he thrived in; it was familiar and comforting. And so it was no surprise that he heard the other before they had seen him - their rustling and hoof-fall broke through his silence like shattered glass. A frown crossed his face and he kept his back to them; perhaps they would carry on their way and leave him be to pick up the pieces and restore his silence.
The silence returned and it was only by a hair that he managed to counter their attack - twisting out of the way with grace that only years and years of practice could achieve. He countered, blinded by anger for a brief moment; hooves coming to kick at his opponent. He circled them, snorting as he breathed heavily. He took a few breaths, calming himself, willing himself to focus. It was then that he noticed his opponent was not what he expected.
A mare was before him and he faltered for a brief moment, the tension in his muscles slacking. He watched her cautiously, but conflicted. She had attacked him but he did not wish to hurt a mare unless it was necessary. "Don't," he warned, muscles tightening once again as he prepared for her next move, if it came.
XxXPandamoniumXxX I hope that's okay! She can keep attacking him if you want and he'll do some real damage or restrain her until she gives up. Or she can give up now. Up to you~
