[PRP] A journey completed (Akkhana and Hayagriva)

Akkhana frowned. Here she was, on the edge of what she knew was Padmapani Herd territory. She had been making her way here for months, a long journey that had taken her across water, sand, and a mountain or two. She had come a long way from her homeland to come to this batch of relatives settled in a distant foreign land. Now that she was here, she wasn't sure that she should have come at all.

She narrowed her eyes uncertainly. It would be ridiculous to turn back now, to abandon all that she had journeyed for. She came here out of a desire to get away from her home rather than find a new one. It was an easy excuse to leave, and now here she was. Her tail thrashed. Would she even be welcome here?

Hayagriva emerged then. He had received news about the kalona cross approaching their borders from one of the flocks of birds they employed to keep watch. He had expected her, so had waited for her arrival. He was naturally wary at the knowledge that a part-kalona approached, but the knowledge that she was alone and not a fullbreed kept him from bringing more defenders than just himself. Hopefully, she was just passing through.

Hayagriva stepped out and rumbled a warning at her, then paused. Her markings were not unfamiliar to him. They were markings that several other Padmapani members wore as well. What was going on here?

Akkhana jumped back in surprise. She had thought that no one was around, and suddenly a massive golden elder was emerging. She had heard of him. It was Hayagriva, the legendary protector of the Padmapani herd. She had heard that he fought off demons and monsters to keep the herd safe, though it seemed like the story was exaggerated from the truth. Still, he was intimidating and didn't look friendly.

"Hi." She said anticlimactically. "I'm Akkhana," she added a moment later. She was not a naturally charismatic soquili. She didn't like a lot of soquili and not a lot of soquili had ever liked her. She knew she had to make a good impression here, but social skills failed her.
