(( "Someone finally breaks it to Nightvine that it's not a good idea to let himself just drop to sleep any where as he travels. They provide him with advice on how to get home safely before falling asleep again." ))
Nightvine awoke with a start. He found himself beneath an enormous pile of leaves and in the middle of someone else's yard.
"Ah, man," he groaned, rubbing at his eyes. "I have no idea what street this is."
He looked about to get his bearings, but his eyes still needed a minute to adjust. Streetlights were a blessing and a curse, they offered everyone else enough light but to Nightvine, they only ruined his near perfect night vision.

Upon looking around, Nightvine would discover there was another blue colt standing right behind him, eyes pinched as he stared in puzzlement down at the colt that had found his way into his yard. Umbra had only gone out for a night stroll- not anything unusual in his family in the least, his mom was already out somewhere stargazing and Umbra was fairly sure at least one of his sisters would be trailing after him any given moment. But alas, he had been thoroughly distracted by the very odd discovery of another foal.
".... Why're you nappin' there?" Umbra finally asked at great length, having decided that he himself could not determine what was going on in the other colt's head.
Nightvine gave a little yelp of surprise. It was completely unexpected for anyone to be there, let alone that close. He looked up at Umbra and saw another unicorn just as blue as he was.
"Oh," Nightvine stood up and shook the leaves from himself. "I wasn't napping so much as... um. I guess all the way asleep. Are you nocturnal, too?"

Umbra's head ever-so-slowly tilted to the other side, brow furrowed as he continued to be perplexed by his discovery. The colt slowly sat down, tail flicked around his side.
"Yes, I suppose I am. I'm Umbra. Mom say's its an eclipse thing. Why are you sleeping in leaves? I don't imagine it's very comfortable. Does it itch?" Umbra rather thinks it would be itchy, with the insects and all that no doubt live in the leaf pile.
"An eclipse?" Nightvine scratched his head and looked up. "You mean there's one right now? Is that what you're awake?"
Nightvine stepped out of the pile of leaves and tried to get a glance at what street he was on. How far was he from home?
"It doesn't itch so bad when they're still newly fallen," he answered finally. "I've woken up in weirder places. I found myself in a rowboat once."
He muttered to himself and looked at the streets, they even looked different from what he was used to. How did he get so far out??
"Do you know where Cucumber Lane is?"

"No, there's no eclipse now." And Umbra has yet to see one, though he supposes they are spectacular. The little colt's head tilted the other way, nose scrunching up as he made the critical decision to like this odd colt. Umbra wasn't so sure why, he rarely really liked anyone, but this one was weird and he kind of liked that in a friend-companion-type.
"I have no idea. Does it have a lot of cucumbers?" Umbra asked, raising back up onto all fours as he was currently smelling an adventure about to take foot.
"Umm, only when they're in season," Nightvine said. "My dad was the first to build his house out there, so he got to name the lane. So any of the new houses that were built there are on Cucumber Lane."
Nightvine looked about, then looked back to Umbra.
"My name's Nightvine," he said. "I fell asleep, but I can't remember even being on this lawn when I knocked out. Last thing I remember was someone with a rake, but I could have been dreaming that part."

"You probably were." Umbra replied serenely. No one in his family rakes- either the leaves pile up to an unmanageable level or his mother whisks it into a heap wit magic. While all of them were rather lovely to look at Umbra would be the first to admit they could be rather lazy about certain household things. Umbra also didn't see anything particularly bad about it, too.
"Well, I suppose we should find your Lane of Cucumbers." Though Umbra would mentally think it highly strange that someone could just lose their home.
"Really, you'll help me? You won't get tired and go to bed, even?" Nightvine seemed truly surprised at this. "I need a map or something. I don't even know where here is."
Nightvine stepped out of the leaf pile and had a look around.
"You live here? Do you know the time?"

"Yes. No. I don't have any maps that aren't of stars. Yes-" The colt tilted his head up, eyes wide as he observed the heavens above on the cloudless night. His right ear twitched.
"It is around eight forty-six." He answered serenely before his attention abruptly popped back over to the other colt.
"Oh, good," Nightvine nodded. "Then I have a little time. I can't control when I fall asleep, I got that from my momma. Well, half of it. She's never all awake but I wake up all the way at night."
Nightvine looked down the street, it seemed as quiet as could be save for the sounds of other night creatures.
"Do you know the name of this street, at least?"

"We're on Milky Way." Umbra replied, head turning so he could peer down the street- as if he could see where Cucumber Lane was from his front yard.
"We're probably going to have to walk a while to find out where you came from." Umbra said- though more for himself than for the odd colt he had discovered. Umbra had the very strong feeling that he absolutely should not let the other colt out of his sights until he was back with his family. Probably fall asleep in the middle of a street or something dangerous. Not that Umbra was irritated by it- he had plenty of his own oddities to fault the colt's for his.
"Oh, Nightvine," Nightvine repeated with a nervous laugh. "I'd say you got your head in the clouds, but I think it's up waaaay higher. Is Milky Way really what it's called?"
Nightvine looked around for his cap. He dug in the leaf pile until he found his felt paperboy's cap and his burlap sack containing his spade and a bucket.
"Most nights I hunt for mushrooms and night blooming plants to add to my night garden. When I need pocket money, I dig for worms and grubs and things," he said, brushing the leaf detritus from his things. "What do you do all night?"

Umbra ignored that comment about his head being up in the clouds- mostly because it was true, but partially because it wasn't really relevant to the situation at-hand to argue with the lost(?) colt. Umbra was certainly giving Nightvine a look like he was the one with something wrong with his head, though.
"... Yes, it really is Milky Way. Are you really asking me about my hobbies? Aren't you the least bit worried that you have no idea where home is?" Honestly the thought was baffling to Umbra. He couldn't read stars like a lot of his family could, but he knew enough to get him home when he wanted to be.
"What's wrong with asking about hobbies?" Nightvine cocked his head at him. "I don't think I've ever actually been back at my house in like... a couple of nights."
Nightvine scratched at his mane and pondered.
"I guess I should wash the dirt out sometime, huh?" he laughed. "I mean, I don't have to be home, but I think my dad is probably flipping out by now."
