Psykgi Mentha
Psykgi did what she did, and usually, she managed pretty well. But, of all of the things she got assigned to do, dealing with the wigglers was the hardest. Was it really only a few sweeps ago that she'd been like them? They were so small, so different mentally from her, and from those she associated with, that it was hard to figure them out sometimes. Harder still, when they needed assistance. How, she wondered, could she help their minds when she didn't understand the normal ones? But, she supposed, practice would make pretty good and mimicry made almost-perfect. So, she kept her smile on her face while watching how more experienced orderlies acted, and got through the activities with as much professional cheer as possible...
But it always left her more exhausted than usual. She hoped that would change with time.

Psykgi Mentha
Psy had been told to confiscate the socks of one of the patients. Despite being actually in fairly good condition and clean, she'd been told to hold it far away from her. As far, indeed, as possible.
It was a little silly, to be honest. Garishness isn't catching, she thought to herself amusedly. Even if the colorful fasion wave was still sweeping through Civisect city. Still, she was starting to see why it was frowned upon in the center. Not because of 'rebel tendencies', but because it went against the soothing atmosphere (and the targeted discomforts.) It was imperitave to control the color environment as much as society permitted.
And that meant no garish socks.
I wonder, though, she thought as she carefully 'disposed' of the sock as she had been told to do, whether a rainbow of colors or grey are more aberrant? It was something to mull over, at least.

Psykgi Mentha
For some reason, she kept being assigned to the wiggler facility. Why, she could only guess at - and it probably had something to do with testing her resolve. Or just sticking her in the job that no one else wanted... which was odd, because she was reasonably certain that there were other trolls at the center who loved working with wigglers, or were better at it. It could even be a little bit of both. Well, the joke was on them, because she wasn't going to let them down no matter what she did. She would do her damndest with a smile on her face, kids or no.
Tonight's activity was a scaled-down dummy-insulting-and=beating.Lusii were not allowed to do the striking - the children had to punch it in the mouth on their own, and take their turns doing so. Her job was to note down the interesting things that came out of the children's squawk-gapers, encourage the children in their violent rejection of Anti-empire propaganda, advise on safe punching form, and make sure that they took their turns and that none of them tried to punch each other in the face. That was against the rules.
One of the yellowblooded children was concerning her because what they were saying every time they came forward to hit the dummy didn't seem all that sincere. Or... something like that. She couldn't put her finger on it, but something seemed off... Well, not much she could do about that right now! She'd just report it later.

Psykgi Mentha
One of the patients she was working with shared a cupcake they'd gotten from Dr. Resmem herself. Of course, Psykgi knew the true origin of the cupcakes, but that didn't make them any less sugary and tasty. They were a good patient, willing to be open about their problems and endure all of the activities necessary to repairing their mental balance and their perception of their place in the world.
"You know, I think all of my problems stem from my ex..." they said. Good for them, that they made that sort of relvelation on their wiggling day. It would be what they did with it that mattered.
Psykgi thought back to her, ah, erratic behavior at Bloodfest. Of course, being Bloodfest, emotions always ran high. But had she taken civic pride too far when she'd attacked the smoothie salestroll? Despite his booth serving compost and mustard and gog only knew what? She was a redblood, so possibly. Such behavior was unusual for her, after all.
She bid the happy patient adeiu and finished off her cupcake in the hallway, letting her lusus clean the remains off of her fingers. It probably was not Eridia's fault, the purpleblood was not that important. But the feelings she had had for Eridia before the Tower... maybe they needed an outlet?
Well, she'd investigate her own mind further later. She had work to do now.

Psykgi Mentha
Psykgi looked over the chart again. Apparently, the patient currently in the theatre was suspected of potential aberrant tendencies. Again, though, with the colors. After seeing it so often on the charts, she could sort of believe it, actually - that wearing a variety of colors was a sign of challenging the system, that hiding those colors in their socks implied some level of sedition (as opposed to pride or appreciation). It made sense, but what did that mean for trolls like Static or Calida?
Either way, she was in charge of this one tonight. "Here we are!" she said cheerily, as she led them to their seat. "You need to watch the whole thing - no closing your eyes..." she strapped them in securely, tightening the straps with the ease of practice. She'd done this before. "It's for the best - for your safety and for everyones." she gave them a pat, "I'll be here when you're done and when you're ready to talk about your feelings, okay?" She backed away and waited for the program to begin.
She'd seen it all before. The point was that they saw it, and that she saw their reaction. She stood at the ready with her clipboard, and prepared to take notes.

Psykgi Mentha
Pairing off this patient for the weekly How Are You Doing In Your Therapy was difficult. They didn't get along very well with others. Aggression was fine of course, it was a part of the Alternian way of life, but hyper-aggression - the sort that sent them flying at other trolls throats at slightest provokation, in public, without regard to blood rank or... anything, really... was a recipe for being arrested and/or culled. That they were a kid, and willing to try to change was a promising sign. And they were doing fairly well, from what Psykgi could tell. But, understandably, for this particular therapy, they required some... creativity.
Psykgi's job was to supervise the product of that creativity - keep them in a, clean, comfortable, calming room and pair them off one-on-one with a more socially adept young patient. It was working well. They were talking and Psykgi observed it all with a very keen eye -
This was what progress looked like.

Psykgi Mentha
It was the hyperagressive patient's first wiggling day party. Not their first wiggling day, obviously, but the first one with other kids. They thought they were ready to have a party without tearing into someone's throat. Psykgi was there to help supervise as the kids in the children's ward celebrated a little. This time, everyone got a 'fresh baked' cupcake, since they were trying to encourage constructive social behavior in all of the trolls involved.
So far, so good - no one had been bitten or mauled, and the kid genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves. Good. Positively reinforcing acceptable behavior was important. She'd make sure they got an extra cupcake later if they kept it up.
"Mentha?" She turned to the orderly, smiling at them, though she kept the group in the corner of her eye as they did party things.
"Hmm? What's up?"
"Which one is..." the orderly pointed to a name on a file.
"Oh gosh, well." She turned to the group of kids, squinting slightly as she did her best to remember the names of each. "I think... yep yep, that's the greenblood over there, the one with bleached tips. The one with the chirpbeast toy on the cupcake."
"That one?"
"Yup!" Psykgi watched one of the interactions carefully before deciding that things were still going well.
"Have they mentioned..." The orderly opened the file, "... any of these?"
"Mm, no, but I'm not involved with their case." Psy said, smiling apologetically, "Ah, excuse me." She was seeing signs of stress in the hyperagression patient, so it was probably time to gently get them out.
