It was the night of the big talent show and Blue was rightly nervous. He wasn't the only one, several other colts and fillies were milling about backstage, each trying to remember the different parts of their acts. One kid had a top had and a wand, a future magician; another was practicing her dance moves; yet another was going over the lines of a poem she planned to read. Blue took a deep, relaxing breath as he looked down at his instrument. It was a brand new guitar his Big Daddy Draft bought him just for the occasion. The blurple colt spent all night tuning it, even now he picked a the strings listen for any off notes. His Daddy Lull bought him a new jacket, then helped him slick his hair back perfectly for his performance.

He knew almost his entire family was in the audience, which for him was A LOT of phonies. His two fathers would be there, his two sisters and brother. All his aunts and uncles as well as his grandparents would be there. Even some of his cousins. It made for a packed house, his eyes traveling over the faces he knew through the peep hole in the curtain. It was enough to make the butterflies in his stomach lift him up into the rafters. Again he took a breath, trying to calm his nerves. His voice would go out if he was too nervous.

"Alright you kids! Show's about to start! Get in line!" one of the directors came calling through the back. All the foals got in line, Blue being the last one. Each act lasted just a few minutes, none of the foals really having drawn out and amazing talents like older phonies. The magician managed to spill his playing cards all over the stage. The dancer did better, only tripping up a little on a turn. The poet did the best, reading off his poem with flair and a deep emotional depth. Finally it was Blue's turn.

Blue walked out on to the stage, seeing his parents an siblings waving at him from their seats. It was so quiet out there on stage, everyone staring at him. It was really a first for the colt, normally he only performed in front of his family or a few friends in the park. Now he was before almost 60 phonies, all staring at him and waiting for his act to begin. He closed his eyes and took another deep breath, he knew music was in soul. Heck he was pretty sure it was part of the gene programming in his family. Music was his life, his passion, his....his purpose!! With a flick of the hoof he began to play, his Rockabilly tune pounding out from his guitar, back up sounds of drums adding to it. He sang his heart out, danced across the stage, and finished with a huge flair. He had the audience dancing in he aisle. He never felt such amazing energy.

Once he was done, he took a bow to a standing ovation. He knew the prise was his. The judges came up to hand him his reward when they suddenly stopped. He heard a gasp from the audience, causing his eyes to open. He looked towards were they were looking and there on his rump was his cutie mark. A big smile grew across his face as his fears disappeared. He knew his purpose, he knew his passion. "That's right baby! Blue Suede Horseshoes knows his place! Right here on this stage!"
