[PRP]The River & The Rose (River Nocturna & Margaery Tyrell)

This is a private roleplay between River Nocturna (Kyrieko) and Margaery Tyrell (Mahogany Sunset).

Margaery sat in a quiet corner of the grove, in the corner where one of the rows of rose bushes curved. Her family had painstakingly laid out the garden when they had returned to the Kawani Lands, years before she had been born: its rows and beds had been planted strategically beneath the trees to allow the roses enough sunlight - but they had also (perhaps a little vainly, Margaery had always thought, but she was proud at the same time) planted them in the shape of her family's sigil, the golden rose whose descendants they now cared for. The planting must have been an undertaking of such a scale she could only imagine it; her grandmother was the only one who had been alive to see it, and she often spoke of remembering when the roses came up only to her knees.

Now, they came up to Margaery's shoulders, but she was not a large mare; some of their visitors had walked past the rose bushes and had them only come up to mid-thigh. Some such visitors were here today - a pale mare with blood red wings named Daenerys, a Targaryen of Westeros and a queen in her own right, though she was younger even than Margaery. The queen, or, as her people called her, khaleesi, had come to Highgarden with a herd trailing behind her. The introductions over, Margaery's parents had let the queen and her people settle in as the sun began to set on the day.

Breathing in the scent of roses that ever perfumed the air, Margaery closed her eyes and thought of the promise she had made to herself - the next herd that passed through would be the one she went away with. And at long last, one had come.

She had been quite nervous about traveling, though she should have grown used to it by now. But change was not something she easily dealt with any longer. Especially when she was starting to grow used to khalasar life. But this trip was a little different from the others. Or so she had surmised. They were traveling to a part of the land she had never been before, and at first, River had almost decided to make a small side trip to visit Dark Side. But curiosity (and maybe a handsome stallion) had convinced her otherwise. And so, River made her way to Highgarden for the first time.

And it was beautiful! The mare had never seen anything quite so lovely! In fact, if she thought about it, River really couldn't recall any of the lands she'd been to being so lovely. Sure there had been a couple locations she'd grown fond of. But nothing like this! Even the scents in the air were relaxing and just as lovely. River found herself not feeling so anxious and walking with her herd with a slightly lighter step. Of course, when introductions were being made, she tried her best to look as small as a draft mare of her size could. A task made a little easier when she stood beside others of equal (or even larger) size.

By the time the sun was beginning to set and the khalasar was settling in, River needed a chance to breathe. To get away from all the excitement and let her anxiety ease. She didn't want to go too far, however, since this was not their home and they were guests. But she didn't want any of the Highgarden residents to catch her alone either. So, she inched towards the garden of roses. They were a shade of gold she'd never seen before and when she leaned closer to sniff them, their scent was pleasant. "So beautiful... " River murmured, letting their scent relax her again.

Margaery's ears flicked at the sound of a nearby voice, soft and lovely. Opening her eyes, she caught sight of a unicorn standing a few yards down the row, admiring the roses. Gauging whether or not she should interrupt her - she looked so at peace - Margaery watched her for a moment. She was one of the few who nearly dwarfed the rose bushes, so Margaery knew that, were she to stand up, she would likely be dwarfed as well. "They're lovely, aren't they?" she asked softly, though she didn't get to her feet; she didn't want to be too intrusive. Sometimes there were only so many new things a person could handle, and Highgarden was a lot to take in. When she had emerged from her basket, she had almost fainted from all the sights and smells and introductions that had to be made. So Margaery sat there on the ground in her little corner, legs folded daintily, and watched the mare, praying to the Seven Above that she hadn't startled her too badly.

River gasped and froze, tail wrapping around her back leg as wide eyes looked around to find who spoke. Her chest felt too tight and she probably was forgetting to breathe. When she finally spotted the speaker, River felt so embarrassed for not realizing someone else was out here trying to enjoy the roses! "Y-Y.... yyyy-yes." She barely manged to get the word out. Oh gracious, she hadn't overstepped any bounds coming out here, had she? The last thing she wanted was to also embarrass the khaleesi!

"I-I.... I...'m t-terribly s-s...sssorry for intruding." River squeaked out, wishing she could just find a large hole and hide in it. Why had she walked off on her own?! Traveling had stressed her a bit, yes. But... being alone? In a new place?
