Day 5 - A Little Bit of Trouble

Ren did like hats, even if he didn't wear many himself (the fedora he'd used to wear was tucked sadly away, in memories of times with people he no longer talked to, for whatever reason that had been), and went along with Hel's insistence obediently, laughing the whole way.

At least until his cover was blown.

"Hel," Ren half screeched, though because he was trying to keep his voice down to avoid too much attention, it was more of a screechy sort of whisper. He hastily yanked the hat back from her hands and shoved it onto his head, pulling it quickly down over his ears.

The little girl was still staring at him.

Ren stared right back.

"This isn't what it looks like."

Day 5 - A Little Bit of Trouble

Hel made a groan, from another aisle, as Ren ended up snatching the hat back from her. She uttered something back about how she didn't need that hat anyways and could find him something else. She was completely unaware of his little...ahem, friend.

The little human girl's bubble gum bubble popped, but instead of ending up all over her face, it simply deflated down. Her eyes were still semi-wide as she stared at Ren, and while now looking the much taller figure up and down, she started to pull her bubble gum back into her mouth to chew.

She knew what she saw.

That dude had kitty ears. Not only that...but his skin was kind of yellow and stuff...Huh.

"Are you a furry?" She asked.

Day 5 - A Little Bit of Trouble

Ren was still holding onto either side of his hat, practically cramming it onto his head, ears flattened beneath it. He turned to look at the little human ghoul, and she was staring at him with a wide-eyed expression. Ren gave her the biggest, most winning, most sparkling, most reassuring smile he could possibly manage.

"I - wait what."

What the Jack was a furry?! Had he been found out? Was that a new term for a Halloween creature? Had their covers been blown? Did this little ghoul know something that they didn't?! What was happening?!

"Uh." Ren said brilliantly. "Uh."

A pause.

"Y...yes?" Maybe if he tried that whole reverse psychology thing, it would work and this ghoul would think he was just kidding around.

Day 5 - A Little Bit of Trouble

The little girl stopped smacking her gum to stare up in stunned silence at the monster again.

"...So you like...to dress up in a creature costume and go hang out with other kids who do the same thing?" A pause. "My older sister, who goes to conventions, says furries also do weird things in their costumes. Do you do weird things in your costume?"

Where ever Hel was, she was really into looking at dem hats.

Day 5 - A Little Bit of Trouble

Ren opened his mouth and then promptly shut it again. Then he opened it again and shut it once more because whatever words he'd been planning on saying had totally slipped his mind and now he was just staring at the little girl with a blank look on his freckled face.

"Uh." He said. "I...well, yes, I mean, I do have friends that uh...like to....dress up - but we don't do anything weird," he added hastily.

He had the feeling he was making the situation worse. Where the Jack was Hel.

Day 5 - A Little Bit of Trouble

The little girl loudly smacked and popped her bubble gum, giving Ren the most unimpressed and not convinced look.

It was then Hel finally showed back up, barreling right into Ren's side in her excitement to show him a really stupid hat she found. "Look!" She cried, shoving it in the monster's face. "It is a foam cowboil--cowboy hat! I think of Mot when I see it!"

The little girl then stood there judging the both of them, because this weird furry guy had a friend show up and was showing him a ridiculous foam hat.

Very weird indeed.

So much judging.

Day 6 - Almost There

"Ehhhhh..." Hel made a face as she scratched her jaw. They'd be going home tomorrow, and while it was kind of sad, because she did like exploring, she was kind of glad, too. A thought had occurred to her was they hung out on the edge of one of the casino fountains, human people watching.

"So..." She leaned, touching shoulders with Ren. "The human world...it never expands, ya? I mean, I know it is very large...but our world...it never stops growing! That means no matter how much you travel and adventure...you will never see all of it!" Hel's cheeks briefly puffed out before she huffed a bit. "Think you will see more of the human world after this, friend?"

Day 2 - Settling In

"We should do EVERYTHING, REN!" Hel cried, the poor boil getting the volume amped up since he leaned in to talk to her. "WE WILL GO EVERYWHERE!" She then pumped a fist into the air.

Day 3 - Getting Familiar

"Ya. I suppose!" She looked at them a bit wide eyed, and then looked at Ren a bit wide eyed. "What else would they do if they tipped over?"

She beamed though, as Ren possibly knew Mac, but the beam was soon followed up by a scowl as he brought up Freya. It was a little sister reaction. She had to do it. "Ah! Really!?" She exclaimed as she leaned in closer to Ren, her eyes now completely wide as she stared up at him in awe.

"You want to get married, as well?" The way she whispered it was almost conspiratorial.

Day 4 - More Than a Hallway

"Hey!" She made a face as he snatched the dollar away from her, but wasn't upset about it for too long as he spoke up. "Paper instead of seeds, I suppose?" She rolled her shoulders and made another face. "Seems stupid though, ya? Paper rips so easily!" She took the dollar back when it was handed to her.

"Ah...ya!--WOAH WHAT!?" For the bazillionth time this trip, Hel ignored all the stares they got at yet another sudden outburst. "You are trying to open a night club!?" This was excitingly awesome news!

[ Day 1 - Arrival - Paris Las Vegas]

After a few hours of being here, Pokerus had discovered a few things:

1. It was really jacking hot. Not even 'halloween stuck in a desert' hot but 'fry a jack dam egg on the pavement hot because the human sun was insane and she would honesty be cooler in a volcano' hot. She found it best to stay indoors, the strange human machines producing cold air to keep things cool.

2. Humans couldn't see her. Well, not without a lot of effort on her part. If she kept out of peoples way and did nothing they would walk right past her. But if she concentrated hard enough, they would start to notice. Perhaps they could sense something 'else' was here, or they saw a flash of blue out of the corner of their eye. She figured if she tried hard enough she could get their attention, but she had to be careful they didn't see her.

For this purpose she had dressed moderately, with her normal pair of ripped up jeans, sleeve-less shirt and boots, and a large hat to cover her ears and horns (She still had trouble shifting those out). Her tail was a little easier to focus on, much like her wings which she shifted in and out all the time, and she had better success getting rid of that.

3. There where so many humans here. It was mind boggling just how many of them there could be in one place. Apparently this was a really famous city.

[ Day 1 - Arrival - Venetian nighttime ]

Pokerus watched the boats ferry people across the river, mildly amused by the spectacle meanwhile wondering why humans would need to have a moat inside their mauls. She had heard of demons splurging on extravagant designs but this was rather overdone, wasn't it? Regardless of the intriguing set up, she needed to find a place to bunk for the night, which brought a new set of challenges for her to face.

For starters, she had no clue if she was supposed to purchase a room from somewhere, or if she should find a nice cave to sleep, or if humans did something completely different. The old style cottages in the books she read looked nothing like the giant buildings littered everywhere, and it wasn't as if she could go up to a human and ask; her attempts to look more human were progressing, but she wasn't about to fool anyone right now, unless she found a really convincing disguise. Plus she wasn't supposed to be seen by humans anyway. Which was strange, considering she needed to scare humans in order to get FEAR so she had to be seen in some form, right?

The whole thing hurt her head. Best to leave the scaring for another occasion and focus on blending in and learning how humans worked.

In the end, she just found a large fancy looking hotel and slept on the floor in the corner of the building. She didn't need a bed to sleep anyway.

[ Day 2 - Settling in - Tour the Strip ]

The next day had Pokerus following a group a humans who were listening to something called a 'tour guide', who took them onto one of the humans large machine things with wheels. Oh wait, buses, thats what they're called. She wasn't one to take the bus often since she could fly, so it was a interesting experience that involved less teeth and things trying to eat the bus driver.

She made sure to hop on last, keeping her head down low and placing a few coins on the drivers little desk as payment, glad her parents had gave her some human money to use while she was here.

The tour guy was talking about a bunch of stuff about the city, and while interesting she hardly understood a word of it, choosing to sit at the back and keep as quiet as possible while everyone else chatted among themselves, looking out the window and watching the sights roll by.

[ Day 3 - Getting Familiar - Stratosphere ]

Having decided to go on the really jacking tall tower she had seen before, Pokerus now found herself at it's summit and idly watching humans who she felt had lost all sense, go on a bunch of chairs that had then dangling over the side of the building. Why any human would put themselves at such risk was beyond her. Seriously if any of those chairs broke they would be in for a very long fall.

On that note, would she be able to fly in the human world?

She made a note to ask her supervisor when she next reported in. She wasn't about to test it herself in case she would fall and dissipate.

She headed to the elevators again making another note to ask what would happen if she dissipated in the human world. That was important too.

[ Day 4 - More then halfway ]

So far Pokerus had seen plenty of strange and wonderful things, including many of the humans intriguing contraptions. Like the helmet that you put over your head and showed you strange visions, that was pretty weird. And the multitude of skellyphones and electronic devices that everyone was using. She could see where halloween go their inspiration from. The buildings were always a sight to see, though there was one she had not been to yet but had seen many a human walk into, which was the giant casino, one of the things she actually knew about.

Today she ventured into the large building, staring at everyone and everything while trying to make sure she didn't bump into anyone by accident. Everywhere she could hear the dings and whistles of the machines, with humans sitting in front of them placing coins into small notches. Some were using peices of paper, which she figured was a form of currency. A strange thing to use indeed, since when was paper worth anything?

The dragon knew the concept of gambling, though wasn't one to partake in the ritual. She didn't like parting with any treasure unless she had to. The machines though were utterly foreign to her. She watched a human put some coins into one machine and press a button, the little symbols on the screen spinning down at a rapid rate until they slowed, most not matching up. Then he put another coin in and repeated the process.

It didn't take long for her to figure out the idea; the icons needed to match and if they did, more coins came out. She frowned though, as it seemed like the human was putting in more coins then he got back. Defiantly not worth her time.

She left the human to his strange game, moving to observe others play more traditional games, blackjack and poker.
