Alex let out a soft breath, a year had passed since he had been in the house he was in, he was ten years of age and still talking to the woman known as Bentley. She was a nice woman, very pretty, though his parents never seemed to notice her. They had to be joking, but after some time, he finally grew used to the idea that only he could see and talk with her. The bus came to a halt and he got up out of his seat and he pulled his backpack along, getting off the school and walking towards the house. The bus was a loud area to be on, especially with kids his age. The boy sighed softly and looked at the house. He was sure Bentley was waiting patiently for him to arrive home.
Alex opened the door and entered, he wasn't greeted with Bentley, oh no, this time it was his parents. His smile instantly went away and he frowned. He was ushered into the living room by his mother. He placed his bag down since he had no homework and sat on the couch. He watched as his mother sat next to him and his father paced back and forth in front of him. Was it going to be another negative talk about Bentley? He had hoped not, though he looked down at the floor. Whatever it was, he was just stay quiet. He knew not to fight what they said, he would just continue to do it later on.
"Alexander, you must stop with this Bentley you speak of. You cannot keep up with this act. There is no other woman around besides your family. I understand that you do not have many friends in school and get picked on. This should not give you a reason to have an imaginary friend. When you are four, five, maybe even six it is understandable, but ten years old and soon to be eleven. You cannot keep doing this." His father started as he looked down at his son. His mother nodded silently in agreement. "We understand you want friends, sweetie. Though, this one is not real. So you need to stop, it isn't healthy for a boy of your age to be pretending that someone is around." His mother added in a gentle tone as she rubbed her son's back. "We see and hear you talking to her, but we do not see anyone, so you must stop with this imaginary friend before it gets out of hand." His father said, finishing up what he wished to speak of and placed his hands behind his back.
Of course, Alex did not like this talk, but he nodded his head, "Y-Yes sir." He let out softly. After a few moments he was released to go upstairs. Alex hurried up the stairs, of course, he did not care what his parents said. He saw Bentley and could speak to her, she understood!
