Well, this was just fantastic.
Ears back, teeth bared, the rosette mare ducked beneath another wild leap of the snarling beasts, braying out her own challenge as another turned to charge her. The pack of feral wolves had come upon her without warning just moments after the Demon's departure and cryptic threat, her stamina already tested by the confrontation- it was just poor luck that followed her today, if the gods were sympathetic to her at all. Her focus was barely holding together with the fear for her family that the Demon had inspired, and this attack was just the icing on her cake. Four of the dark canines had howled, rushed the treeline and leapt at her without provocation- it was enough to make Cetra curse, loudly and profanely.
A sharp bite on her hindquarters made her spin and spit in rage as she raised a wing to swat off the beast who was scrabbling at her hide with sharp claws for purchase, holding on with the power of its jaw. Swearing again as another dove at her heels, she bucked and kicked, striking one in the jaw and loosening the other from her flank enough to bat him off. She could see the other two in her peripheral vision, slowly closing ranks around her, though their circle was loose and incomplete now that one of their kin was nursing a broken jaw.
Snorting her defiance and frustration, the winged mare weighed her options. Escape was quickly becoming a necessity, although sanctuary in this case was not to be found. With the Demon on the loose, there was no way she could return to Hakan- not, at least, without backup. Four wolves shouldn't have been an issue, but her strength had already been tested by the winged Demon, and her mind was not where it should have been. None the less, she had endured- would endure, until something came along. Best hold down the fort and wait for opportunity to arise.
Baring her flat teeth in a threat she was sure the beasts would understand, Cetra stood to her full height, wings flaring in a threatening invitation for attack.
"Give me your best, then!"
