Classic Crooner flitted from the house, wings buzzing with lightning speed, shouting following him out of the door. His mother had said not to eat the cookies before dinner, then promptly found him face first in the jar. The reprimanding that came next was loud and swift, and Crooner escaped to the outside world, clutching a juice box to his body as he flew.
By the time he reached the end of the walkway, his tiny wings were tired, and he dropped to the ground, stumbling into a quick three legged gallop. Crooner ran for a few minutes, then slowed down, panting.
When he finally caught his breath, he sat down, smoothing his dark hair and making sure that the pink streak was as close to perfect as possible. It wouldn't do to look like a scoundrel now would it? He then lifted himself off the ground again with his wings, and fluttered to a bench to watch the parkgoers, juice box sitting on the bench next to him.

"Do you mind if I sit beside you?" The cheerful voice belonged to a green filly, who smiled happily at Crooner from where she stood beside the park bench. Mossflower waited patiently for his response, the bag slung around her neck full of today’s packed lunch. Some days there was just too much today without wasting time going home for a snack, so she always made sure to carry something along with her.

Crooner looked over to see a lovely filly asking to join him. Her orange eyes stood out so startlingly against her mane that he was at first surprised. Then he realized that this was his chance to test out the new moves he had be practicing by making a pass at her!
"Sure you can dolly." he said, bringing the juice box in front of him to allow her to sit. "I'd be nuts to deny such a pretty dame a spot!"

"Thank you!" Mossflower took a seat beside him with a happy grin, then she reached into her bag for her lunch. "I have an extra cheese sandwich today. Would you like one?" She offered as she unwrapped the brown paper package.

She was offering him lunch? This was starting off well!
"Well hot dog!" he said, taking the sandwich from her larger than his hooves. "I'd love one!" He set the sandwich aside to pop the straw into his juicebox. Nothing said suave like holding a drink in one hand while you talked to the ladies.
At least that's what the black-and-white movies he had found in the attic had showed him anyway.
"You're alright kid." he said with a smile. "What's your name?"

Mossflower giggled. He seemed really nice and it was always good to make a new friend. This was going to be an especially good day. "My name is Mossflower." She answered before taking a bite out of her sandwich. Too bad she'd forgotten to bring her own drink along.

"Mossflower eh? Pretty name for a pretty dame. I'm Classic Crooner." He sipped his juice box, then exchanged it for the sandwich, which he took a bite out of. It was simple and delicious.
"You make this? It's dynamite!" he said after swallowing his bite.

"It's just cheese and butter oh and a little bit of tomato relish, but thanks," Mossflower said, pleased he was enjoying it so much. She took another bite, chewed and swallowed. "You're really nice, Crooner. We should be friends."

Crooner nodded. "I think we should be friends too Mossflower!" he said, scooching every so slightly towards the emerald filly. Alright, friend accomplished. Now to turn on a little more charm...
"So tell me something, did it hurt?" he asked, taking another sip from his juice box in what he hoped was a cool way.

"Why, when you fell from heaven!" He said, widening his eyes. "You mean to tell me you aren't an angel?"
There it was! She walked into it perfectly. Now he just had to be prepared for her to be impressed...

Mossflower giggled. "Nope. Not me." She finished her sandwich and brushed the crumbs away.

Crooner went to say something, but his voice stopped mid syllable. She...she wasn't falling all over him. She asking him to be her boyfriend right away! Did he say it wrong?
Crooner blinked a couple of times, then shook off the uncertainty. Maybe Mossflower just didn't get it.
He finished his sandwich as well, running his tongue over his teeth to make sure there was nothing in them.
"Well that doesn't make any sense." he said once he was sure that his choppers were clean. "Because your eyes are heavenly!"

Mossflower was confused as to why he was still on this topic of conversation. Angels and heaven were all well and good but it didn’t apply to her in any way, unless… "I’m sorry, but my family doesn’t go to church, so I don’t know much about that stuff." She smiled brightly. "But thank you for complimenting my eyes."

Now he was just confused. He complimented her twice, and she wasn't falling head over hooves in love yet!
Crooner was at a loss. His mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. This was always supposed to work! When he talked to Candy Dandy, she said her father said stuff like that all the time, and he got all kinds of mares!
"Uhhh, no-no problem." was all he managed to come up with. What was he supposed to do now. He cleared his throat, then said "Uhm, thanks for the sandwich. It was really cool of you to share."
He got up to leave, but barely took two steps before turning around again.
"Can I ask you somethin'?"
