Xiuhcoatl rarely found herself with a sunny disposition and found creatures with this curse to be completely insufferable. This leopard was naturally shorter than most, but it was exacerbated by her also natural slouch towards the ground. Her top lip was even longer than her bottom, giving her face a natural frown in it's neutral state. It was if she was born to be a grumpy old maid. The few that have ever seen her smile usually lost their lives moments later as the only thing that truly made her happy was the kill that came after a successful hunt. Xiuh had fought with a few creatures that she would not eat and some that wished to make her the prey instead of the predator, but she had only killed one other leopard and it was not a pleasant task and if she could have avoided it, she would have.
The sight of the leopards blood brought her restless nights and each time she saw a creature with similar features, she promptly went in the opposite direction. As the sun was going down, Xiuh began her hunt for shelter from the vermin which roamed only at night. This brought her to the base of a cliff. In the distance she saw a black pelt, unanimated.
Before she approached, she called out. "Hello?" When there was no reply she came closer, perhaps it was dead. As she was not prone to cannibalism herself, she felt no interest in finding out for sure. Her intention was to walk right past the black spotted creature, but when she was close enough to see that it was a leopard and a male and still breathing, even this hardened female could not bring herself to leave him to die.
Slowly she outstretched a paw and nudged him. Covered in blood, she prayed this was not a trick which she was about to be the butt of.
"Can you hear me?" She whispered.

Xiuhcoatl blinked as the bunny told her the tail of this leopard at her feet. As he roused, she felt an overwhelming about of pity for him. Pity, or perhaps empathy? Unlikely. It was also quite unlikely that the silly little bunny was even telling her the truth. But what would it get out of lying to her? The male was beginning to stink, but from messing himself, not rotting. Not quite yet, and not on her watch, for reasons she could not truly explain.
"I'll be right back. Don't move," A cruel joke for her own entertainment, nothing more. If she was going to do something for this poor soul, she needed a little humor to get her through. She found the skull of some creature's lunch days ago, and took it in her mouth to a stream not far away. There she filled it with water and brought it back to him. Xiuh tipped it slowly so small drips could fall into his partly crooked mouth.
If this creature did truly awaken, he would be hungry.. She groaned at the thought of hunting and sharing her spoils. Every few minutes, she gave him another dip of the water and waited.
